Why not have an NBA league for players that are not taller than 6 feet?

They have weight categories in boxing, why not have height categories in basketball?

They do. I can't remember if it's the USBL or something like that. I'll check on the particulars. It's more or less a minor league but there is a maximum height

why is it then not a money-maker?

i'm having trouble finding the link. I swear I've heard of a minor league, possibly now defunct league, for pro-caliber players - some even made it into the NBA. But it's not the USBL. Nobody wants to watch average people play sports - we watch because we can't play I suppose would be a good analogy.

I'm going to keep trying to find out if it was a figment of my imagination or not.

Well, middleweights can fight much more interesting boxing matches than most tall boxers. In basketball, if they adjust the height of baskets to a lower level, we may actually see a much more technically sophisticated play by people who are not tall but can move and maneuvr a lot better than the tall monsters.

If light-heavies, middleweights, and lightweights make money, why can't the middle-height basketball players do the same?

(Any way, just random thoughts.)

Here's a site that lists a lot of leagues, even those defunct.

I posed the same question on Pro Imdb Sports board to see if anyone remembers a league like that. Maybe it was just a fact that "big" guys weren't prevalent in one of the minor leagues.

Sorry for the confusion. Might check some of the links here:

i dont think it matters how big you are in the nba just as long as you have enough talent to compensate. thats why youll see players like earl boykins , mugsy bogues, and spudd webb they all learned to compensate for thier size with speed, ball handling, and work ethic.

allen iverson stands 6'1 with shoes so dude is like 5'10. he won the mvp award and league scoring champ a couple years ago.john stockton also floats around the 6 foot range and is the all time leader in assists and steals.there are a lot of players i could mention the shorter players are there but are overlooked by the giants. dont forget that a lot of the big guys deserve to be in the leauge they are extremely talented and worked hard for what they have.

If I am not mistaken, one of the best Baskeball imports that have played in the Philippines came from this League, I doubt anyone knows him or heard of him, but he was very good for a small guy, his name was Sean Chambers he was 6'3" and I think he played for a decade in the P.I.
