One of the up-and-coming lightweight fighters in MMA, Alberto Crane, appeared on Tuesday's MMAWeekly Radio Show just three days after submitting Christian Carvahlo in the main event on Ring of Fire show in Colorado.
Crane spent a large portion of the interview talking about his fight with Javier Vazquez, which he won by split decision this past February. The previously undefeated Vazquez tore his ACL shortly after the beginning of the fight and has still not been able to return to MMA competition, but he pressed on in the fight with Crane and nearly pulled off the victory.
Crane said that he respects Vazquez' toughness and heart, but he honestly doesn't think the injury made that much of a difference. Crane said that the fight would have had the same outcome with or without Vazquez' knee injury.
Alberto Crane said that he was happy with his performance in that fight, and he would be confident about his chances of victory in a fight with a healthy Javier Vazquez. Crane said that Vazquez would probably spend most of the fight trying to avoid his takedowns, but
Crane is confident that he would be able to take down Vazquez due to the smaller cages used by King of the Cage. In addition to a rematch with Vazquez in King of the Cage, Crane said that he would love to fight in the UFC against any lightweight fighter that Zuffa puts in front of him. When asked who he would personally like to fight more than anyone else in the UFC, Crane mentioned the names of Yves Edwards and Hermes Franca
