What's going on? Why won't Capello pick him for the squad??

He's the best right-back we have, and can also do a job at centre-half. I'm puzzled as to why he isn't in the squad, let alone starting 11.

I think it is because the last few times he played for England he was a total joke at right back, awful. Wes Brown has done ok i the position and Glen Johnson is improving. At centre half Micah is good but abit short at only 5' 11".

yeah Glen Johnson has really come on since leaving Chelski

Wes Brown has improved aswell not my fav player by any means but i must admit he has done well for England recently

Richards is naive at CB at the moment IMO but he will probably develop into a top CB eventually his height is not that much of an issue IMO cause he has an immense jump on him, like Cannavaro he is not the biggest but he can leap pretty high

Richard ability to jump really high is one of the reasons he is so dangerous on set peices aswell

Yep. Richards has great potential but he is not good enough a player to be able to just claim the right back spot. He has a few challengers for the position and some are currently better there than him. He should never get near the centre back spot for England until his positional sense is better.

I could not believe he did not get the nod to play right back for the U21's though against Wales. Pearce is a true ****wit, O'Hara at left back, Wheater at right back and one up front against Wales at home.

i think Richards could get a place at RB for the national team but deffo not CB he is as good as Brown,Johnson as a RB but he is not as consistent probably due to his age etc

O'Hara is **** ,Wheater is one ungggglyy mother****a :lol1:

You from the blue half of Manchester by any chance?

Wes Brown owns him at right back at the moment I'm afraid.

He may not be as honed or polished, but I do think that he can make a bigger difference than Brown both going forward, and as a presence at the back.

Also mate I think he should be nurtured in the under's and let Brown the 28 or whatever year old have it.

ALthough saying this, Walcott has been brought up and shone. I think it's because we already have alright defenders.

Richards is definitely one for the future though.

you just made me realise aswell its probably better having a more defence orientated fullback in Brown than having someone like Richards there who is not as experienced and a more attack minded than Brown

having Theo and Richards on the right hand side may leave us a little vulnerable defensively they lack experience etc

I would leave Wes in, he has done well for England the last few games and has been good for the Scum too.

I dunno is Richards really that attack minded?

But yeah you couldn't reallly have that much inexperience on the right flank, Capello probs knows this.

Richards is lightening quick but I think he lacks maturity. Wes has proved himself at the top level. He has stood in for Neville at man u and England and I think he deserves to be there. Our back four is pretty solid really, they all played in the champions league final so you can't really question their ability.
