Im a big hockey fan so I gotta go w/the late 70's Canadians in a slight edge over the Habs of 55-59.
The Montreal team's of 76-79 boasted such all-stars and creative talents as Guy Lafluer, Larry Robinson, Ken Dryden, Steve Shutt, Guy Lapointe and Serge Savard.
They spawned great nicknames like "the Flower", "Big bird", and "the big three".
Ironically enough over those years, 2 of the 4 1st round picks have ended up playing for Montreal later on.
They have what is arguably the single greatest season in team sports when they went 60-8-12. Only 8 losses in 80 games.
They won all the major trophies, dominated the all-star selections and here's a strange one, a list of all the players from those teams that have gone on to coach or GM in the NHL...
Bob Gainey
Ken Dryden
Serge Savard
Jacques Lemaire
Doug Jarvis
Doug Risebrough
Mario Tremblay
Rejean Houle
can any other team say they had 8 players from a single season go on to coach or GM ? I dont know...probably not.
This is the Club that in my opinion is the Greatest Team in Sports History.
