Assuming he beats down Joppy (and I think he will), would you put him in with Ex? I think he's very close to ready - and given Hopkins' age and recent performances, I wouldn't be surprised if Jermain could take him down.

View Full Version : Taylor - is he ready for Hopkins? GasPed 11-05-2004, 02:24 PM Assuming he beats down Joppy (and I think he will), would you put him in with Ex? GxBrak 11-05-2004, 02:27 PM I think taylor is an awfully good fighter but hopkins would just be too much, but perhaps he could pull it off if he knew how to use his size advantage (no height advantage, taylor just appears to be larger in size overall) Champoreeno 11-05-2004, 02:49 PM I don't think Taylor will be ready for Hopkins before he retires. Hopkins is better than Taylor in every aspect I can think of, and probably will remain so for at least the next year. I'm looking forward to seeing if Taylor can stop Joppy. He hasn't fought a true middleweight yet, and I'm not yet convinced he's as strong as everyone thinks. We'll see.. PRboxingfan 11-05-2004, 03:22 PM I think he stops Joppy and he would have a very good chance, more than most give him, to beat B-Hop. I think his jab would be the deciding factor; Hop doesn't respond well to jabs. tracylee 11-05-2004, 03:41 PM I like Jermain and believe he has alot of talent, but I think he should take on a few real, genuine middle wt's before getting in the ring with Nard. I havent heard anything about Hopkins retiring any time soon (doesnt mean he wont) but assuming he's gonna stick it out a while longer, I dont see any rush for Taylor to fight him. Like I said, I really like Taylor alot, but so far he's been fighting alot of guy's that are way smaller than him, and Nard just happens to be the middleweight master, and may be more than he's ready for just yet. Just my opinion :) TheFairPole 11-05-2004, 04:25 PM I think he is really close!!! One more fight after Joppy and he will be ready!!! I really think this guy is the next great in boxing!!! We all know that boxing needs one too... I hope it is Taylor!!! abdiel2k3 11-05-2004, 04:34 PM ofcourse taylor is ready for hopkins one hundred percent hes ready for hopkins to beat him at this point we havent seen taylor with enough top opposition to say if he is ready to fight hopkins much less beat him unfortuantly by the time taylor may be ready to face hopkins hopkins might all ready be gone teakay 11-05-2004, 05:00 PM I don't think Taylor will ever fight Hopkins, at least while he is still good. And NO, Taylor is not close to being ready for someone like Hopkins right now. A few more years maybe. I have a feeling Taylor may turn out to be another Six Heads Lewis once he steps up the comp, hopefully I am wrong. The Fix 11-05-2004, 05:28 PM taylor is not ready for b-hop. he needs to wait a year or so to see if hopkins gets old. i mean everybody ages hopkins has to sometime cause if this lasts longer it will be pretty incredable.dudes a freak Dr.Depravity 11-05-2004, 05:30 PM I think he soo close that he might as well be ready. Even if B-Hop beats him. So what. It would be great ring experience. It would make JT even better. SonnyG8R 11-05-2004, 05:37 PM I think Taylor is close. Give him a few more fights and age is an ever increasing concern for Hopkins. I'd love to see him kick Hp's ass next Fall or Winter phallus 11-06-2004, 03:08 AM i'd like to see how Taylor takes a punch, he's never been in with a real middleweight. taylor is a good prospect, but i suspect Hopkins will be too much for him, if taylor shows any weakness in there Hops will take him apart. i doubt BHop has as much respect for Taylor as he does for dlh, he won't hesitate, he'll just take taylor out Swifty 11-06-2004, 03:24 AM Taylor is a very promising fighter no doubt. But is he ready for he executioner? I doubt it. Though we can't be sure, as we've never seen taylor fight a "real" middleweight as many have already stated. But you never know, Taylor might shine just liek Riddick Bowe did against The Real Deal. PacKillsMorales 11-06-2004, 05:24 AM so even though howard eastman won purse bids taylor still fights joppy. i soooo love boxing politics. wtf is the shot joppy still doing. hope taylor puts him in deep sleep Supafly25 11-07-2004, 01:04 AM Taylor - Is he ready for Hopkins? NO Tha Greatest 11-07-2004, 01:14 AM i think he should hurry up n fight him cuz if he beats a old hopkins everyones gonna say he was out of his prime n make excuses phallus 11-07-2004, 01:16 AM what if he can't beat old Hopkins? ibeestingin 11-07-2004, 02:37 AM He aint ready for Hopkins. Supafly25 11-07-2004, 05:18 AM Hopkins is old, but Taylor still aint touching him. |
