View Full Version : After Moorer.. Who next for the Tiger?
Eyeh8you 11-05-2004, 01:31 PM I say either a Barette or Guin or JC Gomez level fighter or even better I say he starts to call out Wlad. I think he has the style to stop Wlad, all you need is a chin and a set of ballz and you'll win. I mean if Brewster can then why not Jirov.
What do you guys think, whos JIrov next opponent?
TheFairPole 11-05-2004, 03:18 PM I'd like to see him rematch Toney!!! The first one was a great fight!!!
bigddubb 11-05-2004, 03:26 PM Wlad v Jirov would be a good fight. Jirov has a serious chin and has some pop at heavy. If Wlad is too tenative, like he was for his last fight, he could be stopped.
The1God 11-05-2004, 03:32 PM Jirov vs. Byrd would be a good fight. But Toney is what he wants as well as the general public. Jirov's chin has always looked good, but I think a good punch from any of the big boys will make you sleep fast.
I could also see he trying to hook up with Fres Oquendo or Jeremy Williams.

James Toney will be fighting for a belt if he can stay healthy, so a rematch doesn't look immediately likely.
Jirov vs. Tarver would be a bigger moneymaker than a number of heavyweight battles. Jirov beat Tarver as an amateur; there's a backstory there as well as a better size differential.
Calling Wlad out doesn't accomplish mutch.
If Jirov can't get a big name, a Juan Carlos Gomez or someone ranked 10-20 would be a good stepping stone towards a Toney rematch or going after a contender. And I know a lot of people love Jirov, but he's not a contender yet. He's 0-1 at heavy. He needs a few more fights. After Moorer he should face another couple guys who aren't "top" opponents but are credible enough to continue to build Jirov's heavyweight reputation.

I think this pretty much sums up my opinion... Also the Wlad thing was for a reaction as a joke!!! Thanks for the bad Karma you ****ing douche bag!!!
teakay 11-05-2004, 04:27 PM A Toney vs Jirov match can be built up to be a huge fight, that's if Jirov keeps winning.
I'd like to see Jirov vs Tarver. I think Jirov can KO him, which will put Jirov in the publics eye for sure.
The Jirov-Moorer should be pretty good, especially for being on FOX Sports.
QueenCity 11-05-2004, 04:49 PM Jirov-Moore should be entertaining, a Cruserweight verses the 400 pound man-just leave it to Fox.
After that the sky can be the limit for Jirov, A heavyweight that 90% of the boxing fans actully enjoy watching, imagine that.

very interesting info; look forward to more
phallus 11-05-2004, 08:56 PM Jirov needs a least a couple of high profile wins so hopefully he can get
a title shot. However, maybe his losses at heavyweight will help him
look beatable so Ruiz, or Byrd might give him a shot. If Jirov were to win a hw title ( i think he can ) that would put him directly in the path of James Toney, which would be another great fight!
RJj1fan 11-05-2004, 11:24 PM I have always enjoyed watching Jirov. And he won his last 2 fights. I could very well see him beating Tarver and Byrd.
phallus 11-06-2004, 02:40 AM i can see him beating Byrd, too. Byrd doesn't have the power needed to keep Jirov away. i can see him beating Ruiz too, it'd probably be a late KO

I had him way down on points in the mesi fight - of course if it had been scheduled for 12 instead of 10 he would have won because mesi wouldn't have made it out of the 11th
ejk22 11-06-2004, 09:50 AM Hey bigdubb that picture you have with the guy getting knocked out is some real ***** ****. Any mother****er that cheap shots someone else who is involved in a fight or a heated argument is a ****ing coward and a ****ing *****. Not saying this about you, I am just expressing my opinion.
Duncan 11-06-2004, 11:57 AM Jirov should target Holyfield if Holyfield eeks by Donald. Holyfield is so far, far, far gone that Jirov could get a real big name on his record fairly easy, I believe. Plus, Holyfield fights his worst againts smallish heavyweights.
