View Full Version : Sakuraba Vs. Randleman.....
realkaps 10-20-2003, 11:11 PM From a Randleman Interview.....
There has been a lot of talk on who you are fighting in Pride, who has been confirmed ?
Sakuraba.
It’s confirmed ?
Yes they should be coming out with a PR in the next couple day‘s.
Nice, what are your thoughts on this fight ?
No more mister nice guy. I’m going all out, im gonna hurt him. He is either going to have to KO me or im going to KO him within 13 min. Your gonna see a lot of stand up and arm bars and I’ll throw in some kimuras.
:nonono:
I really really want Sak to win......
Mr. Beelzebub 10-20-2003, 11:16 PM WTF?
Is not a bad match up for Saku. I really hope Saku can beat him if this fight happens.
lightweight 10-20-2003, 11:22 PM Randleman+arm bar on Saku=hahahahahahahaha
realkaps 10-21-2003, 12:29 AM Randleman wont be subbing Sakuraba anytime soon. But he is strong as **** and a good wrestler, I think he will try some G&P and end up getting caught in a sub.....
Fallout 10-21-2003, 12:48 AM Sakuraba is going to die
Bluecifer 10-21-2003, 12:40 PM I have to go with Creed on this one. I love Saku and hope he wins, but Randlemans strength is gonna be a major problem here. The only sub I see working on Randleman is a choke and I don't see Sak getting his back on this one. Bad match up for Sak IMO. I would have WAAAY preferred to see Sak vs. Busta. Why the Japanese want to see Sak murdered is beyond me...
mmafanman 10-21-2003, 02:03 PM Randleman's too big and strong for Sak. Why is Pride continuing to sabotage this man's career by putting him against guys out of his weight class? It doesn't make any ****ing sense at all.
realkaps 10-22-2003, 10:06 AM LMAO! From MMAweekly....
A press conference was held in Japan to officially announce the fight. In somewhat of a bizarre angle, Pride is referring to Kevin Randleman as "Donkey Kong".
They are billing it as the fight of 'the IQ wrestler vs. the real Donkey Kong.' Sakuraba did PR for the announcement with a fake mustache on calling himself 'Sakuraba Mario.'
Fallout 10-22-2003, 10:10 AM If Sakuraba goes in shooting fireballs at Randleman he might have a chance. Otherwise, he is going to lose.......AGAIN

lightweight 10-22-2003, 11:13 AM hahahaha
For the Silva fight he was up to 200lbs and he said he had much better strength so he may not be hopelessly overpowered. I hope he gets some more mass and chokes Randleman out, I don't know if he can though. Very hard fight for him, but I think he has a fair chance of winning.
Kempo Chris 10-22-2003, 11:53 AM ahahahahahahah
mmafanman 10-22-2003, 12:21 PM The added weight won't help Sak's already limited mobility at all. And a big part of what made him great was that he moved so well. Sak was at his best when he fought at 185, not at around 200.
Bluecifer 10-22-2003, 03:22 PM I'm betting that this will be Sak's last fight. I would love to see him win but just don't see it happening.
Mr. Beelzebub 10-22-2003, 03:30 PM Saku is gonna pull off the sub win.
Bluecifer 10-22-2003, 03:38 PM I hope to hell your right Bub. BTW, has Randleman ever been subbed? Has Sak ever KO'd anybody? Hmmmmmm. Seriously though, I DO hope your right. Sak is still my favorite fighter of all time.
lightweight 10-22-2003, 04:17 PM One sub loss to Carlos Barreto in a Brasilian show, but he hasn't faced a sub guy like Sakuraba before IMO.
I think they gave Sakuraba this fight because he beat Rampage who beat Randleman and they probably think this will be a win for him. Those crazy Japanese.
Bluecifer 10-22-2003, 04:35 PM Oh. I didn't know about Barretos. What technique did he use?
Mr. Beelzebub 10-22-2003, 05:25 PM I believe Carlao Triangled The monster in one of those old Vale Tudo tournaments
The Ensanity 10-22-2003, 08:13 PM Kevin cant finish Saku.
He will get frausted, then tapped
Randleman has ONE good skill, and thats wrestling...I think this fight will be much like the Rampage/Saku fight....Kevin will be doing alot of defending and WILL GAS....
I have NO worries that saku will win this one
realkaps 10-22-2003, 08:34 PM I predict a rather boring fight. Randleman will take the top postion, some G&P and end up getting caught in an armbar or choke....
Mr. Beelzebub 10-23-2003, 10:15 AM Saku by mata leao or triangle choke.

I agree that his wrestling is Randleman's best asset. But his striking has improved vastly since his early days in the UFC. He stood with both Rampage and Rua, two very good strikers.
Fallout 10-23-2003, 03:00 PM I can't belive what I am reading. What makes you think Sakuraba has ANY chance of beating Randleman?

The only way Sak wins this one if he catches Randleman with a sub. Although that's not in the realm of impossibility, he'll still have to do it from his back. I just don't see Sak being able to take Randleman down and keeping him there.
Otherwise, I see this one playing out like the Sak vs. Igor match. Sak does well for a while, but then Randleman's size and power catches up with him later on.
The Ensanity 10-23-2003, 05:13 PM If I remember correctly RUA almost subbed him and he couldnt put a simple KEYOCK on a SMAAAAALL japanese guy....In fact I think he BARELY finished that SMAAAAALL japanese fighter.
Trust me, Saku is a waaaaay better grappler than both of those guys....(I know Rua is good on the ground, but he is no saku)
DragonZero 10-24-2003, 12:01 AM well i'm going off how saku's chin has looked lately and it hasn't been too good since crocop knocked his block off i say randleman wins by late ko
lightweight 10-24-2003, 12:14 AM Cro-cop didn't knock his block off, he injured Saku. He's only been knocked out by Schembri(freak ko) and Silva.
Mr. Beelzebub 10-24-2003, 12:37 AM Sakuraba has the bad habit of completely dropping his hands while throwing leg kicks, this is how he got KTFO by Wandie last time. I really hope he can keep his hands up and tries to bring the fight down to the ground. Saku needs, and overall, deserves a f'n win for Christ's sake.
The Golden Bear 10-24-2003, 12:49 AM Saku
Mr. Beelzebub 10-24-2003, 01:02 AM The person that posted before me is a very wise man.
phatman86 10-25-2003, 12:16 PM yup sakuraba is why i started loving mma...go saku.
DOGGx0 10-25-2003, 07:58 PM saku fo life!
Tanner Rhoden 10-25-2003, 08:07 PM Yeah, Sakuraba via GnP.
computer fogie 10-25-2003, 11:39 PM Randleman can probably keep Sak on the bottom as long as he wants. But he doesn't know how to get the TKO while in the guard. If Sak survives long enough to gas Randleman, his chance of getting a sub becomes much more likely. I'm starting to lean toward Sak by choke. It's a tough one to call.
