I might be having my amateur boxing debut on November 29th. I'll post more details as they come. Any advice?

Keep your hands up, nothing looks worse than a fighter who drops his hands to his sides during a boxing match. Keep em up & block! Keep moving, dance around with footwork, after you hit him, move again, don't forget your jab, follow thru with a good punch!

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Momita. The past few weeks have been very interesting up at the gym. Coaches calling me a natural, promoters watching me fight and train, dropping experienced fighters in the ring, etc.

Now I get an offer for a fight in November? Unbelievable. It's a dream come true really, so I hope that if it works out I won't get knocked out.

dude its ameture so it'd be like 3x2 minute rounds or 3x3s. so you have to go nuts inthere to score points. the main thjing is cardio youve got to be abl;e to go none stop for each of those rounds. iive seen good ametures with gr8 skill loosee because they tire after 2 rounds.

bob is right, hope you have worked on the cardio, besides having an ability to punch & jab, being able to last all rounds & still have energy is important.

It can determine the outcome to alot of fights! Are you a technical or KO artist?

Hey...... maybe we'll get to see you on tv & say, yea thats Fury, should have seen what he posted yesterday.......:)

You know, to be completely honest I'm not sure if I'm ready. I think the offer is a bit pre-mature. I've only been strictly boxing for about 3 weeks. The coach and the school seems to be caught up in the "hype." I've performed very well against experienced fighters at the gym, and supposedly pack a lot of power...or "bang" as my coach calls it.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm being pushed into this fight because I have fast hands that make me look better than I really am. You know...he promised me someone "green" for my first fight, but how can he guarentee that? How does he know for sure? The guy's coach/manager could be lying to my coach about how much experience he has.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I have a month to make my decision, and I can back out at any time. But before anything is agreed upon I'd like to know. I hate backing down from anything when it comes to fighting.

It can determine the outcome to alot of fights! Are you a technical or KO artist? I'm somewhat mixed. I like to play the technical roll at least in the beginning. I like to jab a lot, and counter fight. However I sometimes like to come in with some powerful shots. My coach says my advantage is my superb counter fighting and fast hands...so whatever that puts me in...

The way to find out is to get in there & "do" it Fury. You won't know if this is just "hype" until you compete. Your coach should be able to ask around & find out about whoever they set you up against.

If you have been sparring with pretty good boxers & you are punishing them, you just might be pretty good, alot of boxers are "discovered" by taking out experienced people, ya know?

You might just be getting the jitters, if you are impressing people with your speed & punching power, I'd say give it a shot, you might be better than "you" think! Only you can decide that.
