MMAWeekly's Ken Pishna was in Colorado for the Ring of Fire show and once again another solid show by promoter Sven Bean. Here's last night results on the SoundOff Forum.


MMA 155 lbs
Christian Sanders (NE) vs. Vern Baca

Vern Baca wins 1st round due to tapout(strikes). Baca got the early takedown. Sanders gave Baca his back and the fight was finished with strikes from that position.


K-1 Rules 200 lbs
Tony Johnson (NE) vs. Steven Simmons (CO)


Steve Simmons started fast dominating the the first minute of the fight with effective kicks and punches. The tide turned when Tony Johnson landed 3 straight right hands. The third one ended the fight at 1:25 of round 1.

MMA 155 lbs
Rocky Johnson (CO) vs. Tom Sarah (CO)

Ken Pishna reports the first round had quite a bit of strikes from the clinch. Sarah ended up with a nice right cross to finish round one. Sarah pulled guard in round 2 and won with a triangle choke at 1:14.


MMA 155 lbs
Keith Wilson (CO) vs. Joshua Kaine (CO)


Round 1 had Joshua kaine attempting a few submissions from guard. Keith responded with ground N pound.

Wilson won by tapout via strikes at 2:13 of round 2.

MMA 155 lbs
Luke "Lil' Hulk" Caudillo (NE) vs. Brock Jensen

This fight saw all three rounds and went to a unanimous decision for Luke Caudillo. Ken had the fight scored closer than the judges saw it.

Ken said the fight was pretty close with both guys getting ahead at times. The start of the 3rd round saw some heavy leather flying both ways.


Chilo Gonzales vs Reuban Esco(Not sure on spelling of fighters names at this time)

Chilo won by tapout due to strikes at 1:15 of round 1. Chilo ended up with Reuban's head pinned to the mat and landed some brutal strikes forcing him to tap before the ref stopped it.



MMA 155 lbs
Fabian "The Freak" Acuna (CH) vs. Danny Jung (CO)


Jung started with flying knee which just missed. Jung almost had a triangle sunk in and 3 attempts at arm bar which Acuna was able to power out of them.

Jung got a takedown and as they were going down to the ground and Acuna pulled guard and sunk in a guillotine leaving Jung nothing to do but tap out.

Acuna wins tap out 2:31 of round 1 due to guillotine choke.


K-1 Rules 175 lbs
Cruz "The Saint" Chacon (CO) vs. Nick "The Italian Stallion" Rondinelli (CAN)


Nick dominated the fight and put Cruz down in the 2nd and 3rd. Nick got the unanamous decision after 5 rounds.



SUPER FIGHT: Heavyweight
Patrick Smith (CO) vs. Allan "A-Dawg" Sullivan (AZ)


Pat had his way the whole fight with mounting A-Dawg and eventually getting his back. Pat was able to rein down some shots to A-Dawgs head for a KO. Pat was calmer than his previous showings and it worked well.

Patrick Smith wins by KO 3:35 of round 1



ROF Rocky Mountain Championship 155 lbs
Christian Carvahlo (Brazil) vs. Alberto Crane (NM)

Crane took him down and worked gnp. Crane stood up in Carvahlo's guard and passed to side mount. He worked to full mount and Carvaholo turned and gave his back. Crane caught him in a rear naked choke and ended it via tapout.

Crane gets the win 3:56 into round 1 by tapout due to rear naked choke and became the new Rocky Mountain Champion.

Alberto Crane seem's like he's pretty good. I'll be keeping a closer look on him from now on.

Crane is seriously skilled on the ground. The guy's a BJJ champ. Maybe we'll see Pat Smith back in the cage in the near future if he keeps on winning. The guy's grown into a ****ing monster since I last saw him in the Octagon. I don't know if that's good or bad.
