View Full Version : What a ****e grand final
mgkirkpatrick 10-05-2008, 09:54 AM I thought it was going to be an absolute arm wrestle after the first 15, but Melbourne just couldn't stay with it. They had no plan B in attack and were too thin in defence. Unbelievable how much difference Cameron Smith would have made.

We sucked in attack and we sucked in defence.
Picked a hell of a day to put on their worst display in years.
Steve Turner's defence was pathetic and his wing was the target all night.
The funny thing is he played really well in the prelim.
Well I guess storm are going to need to rebuild a bit now, so I don't anticipate us being in any more Grand finals for a few years at least.
Going to miss Crocker & Falou plus Jeremy Smith & Kafausi.
On another note I know how gifted Inglis is, but for the money he is being paid he sure goes missing a lot.
Go the Storm :****you:

How come the game is always played in England? Surely they should alternate the venue?

Leeds. The Australian clubs don't take that game seriously. If they did we would kill you every year, just like we do in the Tri Nations.

Melbourne were shot with Smith in the Team, Smith was in the team when they got beaten by the Warriors.
Melbourne peaked too early this year, the form had to run out sooner or later.

You're right, but i think his 40 tackles a game in the middle of the park would have seen the Storm covering the entire try line better. Almost all the tries were scored right on the line.
Manly were definitely the best team in the comp at the business end of the season.
KostyaTszyu44 10-07-2008, 05:28 AM yeah it was pretty crap to watch unless you love manly
good to see storm beat though

exactly right, i mean they beat the storm last year lol u really think that possible if storm really cared about winning
Dick-Sucker 10-08-2008, 01:45 AM I think Melbourno were no way the same team without Cameron Smith. In saying that i do think Many would have got up pretty comftorably even if he did play, probably around 10-20 points.
I think the big factor in the loss, was Melbournes forward pack. Who i have never rated. Brett White to me has been the most over rated prop i have ever seen play the game. Also Kaufusi, is very lazy in defence. Usually its the backrowers such as Foalu and Inglis taking the ball up, and the props were getting credit, even though they weren't doing much. Which quickly came to reality on sunday arvo.
boxing_great 10-08-2008, 06:57 AM wtf was melbourne doing? 8 times out of 10 they would smash manly.i think losing those key players ,cameron smith, hoffman must have had a huge impact.
Greatwhitehope 10-08-2008, 08:42 AM Loved it, anything that involves Melborune getting destroyed suits me to a T.
Savino 10-08-2008, 11:33 AM Im gonna watch the repeat of it tonight on Setanta. I was looking forward to watching it sunday and my dad bloody deleted it on the sky+. brilliant result that for Manly. Leeds will beat them next year though.

Yeah Leeds will win for sure.
They really either need to scrap that match though or get serious with it. It is ridiculous that the SuperLeague side is like a month into their season and the NRL side is still in preseason. I understand why it is in Britain every year, as it would not get any attention out here but they still need to have a look at the timing of the match.

Hi Mate
Just wondering if I could get a sample of your hair for a doll I'm making?
