So I was looking at the Fall Ringside catalogue today, which just came in the mail yesterday, and they have a lot of resources for boxers/trainers in terms of instructional dvds and books. If any of you have used any of these videos or books in your training, please review them in this thread!

First off, I was wondering if anyone has ordered any of John Brown's DVDS. They run the gamut from shadowboxing, to defense, to footwork, to counter-punching, to bag technique and drills and I was curious as to how helpful these dvds are collectively and/or in terms of each individual release. I can imagine that some are better than others within this collection....

Then there is the great trainers dvds featuring 4 volumes focusing on trainers Ken Adams, Archie Moore, Ace Miller, and Jesse Reid. Does anyone recommend any of these volumes? Why or why not?

In terms of boxing books, I am interested in reading your reviews on the following:

1) Explosive Power and Strength by Dr. Donald A Chu. Dr. Chu is a prominent Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, so I know this book has to have some valuable info. Your thoughts?

2) Nutrition for Boxers. Anyone check this one out?!?

3) Ultimate Guide to Weight Training for Boxers. How is this?!?

4) The Boxers Workout... this is the least appealing to me of the four, but nevertheless worth hearing about it if one of y'all has it.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

The videos are all in the download section, just have a quick search. Not too sure on the books though, a quick google search and i'm sure you can find ebook versions.

thanks salty, but the only ones i found were TITLE videos. That would have been cool, but the links all expired.

I am curious as to what some of you who may have checked out the videos thinks about the two. Is either series good? If you've seen both, which is better?

I think that a quality instructional video, or book can be a good supplement to augment one's training regiment with a trainer. It certainly couldn't hurt!

Thanks

Just airing. What the hell are the guys at Ringside thinking! They jacked-up their prices rediculously when the economy is so bad!!! Thank God Title's prices are still the same. I'm not buying from Ringside until their prices DROP!

i downloaded a couple of those off limewire about year ago they were very detailed about eveything. it looked like it was filmed in like 1995 or something either that or they used an old ass camera.

Thanks bro. Which ones did you download? Which ones were the best of the ones you saw? Did they help? Thanks!

If youre talking about the one from ringside, yeh i have it. Very helpful, goes into a lot of detail, and has some sample diet plans too. Good book.

I got the John Brown Advanced Shadowboxing. It's okay. Not great, but it had some good points.

There was a bunch of that Troy dude's vids up on megaupload a while back. Absolutely useless! The only decetn boxing book is that Todd's workouts from the greatest champs. it gives you an idea of what you need to do. If there is any books actually giving instructions, I will be highly skeptical as boxing is something hard to explain in writing.
