But only if it was the final realease. Like Godz so carefully worded it, "amazing potential". Load times and lag make it painful to play at times though. The first zoom on over the shoulder also leaves much to be desired. Limited controller configuration customizing is also a pain. I also have issues with hit recogntion on upper chest but especially head shots which are not always one shot one kill (even in non-competitive testing scenario). Weapon accuracy also should be tweaked. M-16's (the most accurate Assault Rifle in game) is too often off the mark even with first shots at even medium distances. Game also seems a little slow even compared to other Socom's. I would say speed it up some. If the fix even half the problems the game would be well worth buying. The ingame clan support is unbelievable and socom is always on the vanguard of clan/team support options and tools. Mech. 09-16-2008, 05:01 AM Thats disappointing to hear. For it only being a month away I dont think most of what you mentioned is going to change. I think at this point theyre just hammering out connection issues and maybe exploits. I just didn't want to count the chickens before they hatch. I dont want to sound as if I'm knocking the game its an excellent game and might be the best shooter available for a good bit with COD taking a step backward. Let me explain further about the lag. The lag is only there if you join a room mid-game. If you are in there from launch of game then your good. Load times are bad either way though. Also many of the clan features are not activated or fully functional in the beta. Can be a great game. Sox8055 09-16-2008, 12:15 PM I honestly dont like socom, its a bad ass game trust me, but I am going to save my cash 4 Far cry 2 and Saints Row 2. Blood is back, and when you hit someone, you hear a sound effect, which is a nice touch. The guns are nice, so far. When a guy dies he goes limp and it usually makes for some funny ass positions. To clarify what GodzHand said about the lag. It only lags if you join into a game that is in progress. It will lag from kinda bad to really bad, loss of game sound and no mic. However if you stick it out till the end and the room goes back to lobby and your there for the launch of the new map then it will be fine with no lag, game sound fine and mic operating fine. The SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 patch addresses the following issues: * Abnormally long network synchronization issues when some users in a game have a poor network connection. This issue causes 4-7 minute (or longer) load times when late joining a game. * Fixed an issue where respawn game late joiners were sometimes stuck in spectator mode and could not respawn into the game. * Removed the latency detection network test which was causing some users with poor network connections to receive the network latency icon (red X). * Fixed an issue where clients with different client versions (patches) could play together in a default medley game. * Fixed an issue where if the session master leaves the game, late joiners could not "green up" and late join into the game. * Fixed corrupt characters in the European and Japanese EULAs and Server News. * Fixed many join game issues and made joining a game quicker. We are still optimizing this. * Fixed an issue where if you add and then remove someone from your block list they were still unable to send you a message. * Improved accuracy while moving (based on user feedback). Partial implementation. More improvements to come. * Reduced the encumbrance penalty (based on user feedback). * Changed the default round time for Medley games from 8 minutes to 6 minutes (based on user feedback). We are still looking into the following issues and they will be addressed in a future patch: * Some late joiners have really bad framerate (5fps) and crash if they exit the game from the start menu. Left2body 09-19-2008, 03:06 AM Thats todayt how you get in? I already had the beta this is just a patch for the Beta that was released on circa Sept 5th. There were a few ways to get in........firstly members of the closed beta had codes already sent to them. Then Gamestop had a limited offer of codees for people who preordered Socom. Each Gamestop Code allowed for 3 downloads. There was also Qore members that either had the full subscription or just ordered the June Edition of Qore. Those guys were given 1 code on Sept 11-12. Left2body 09-25-2008, 11:34 PM We are happy to announce that the SOCOM Confrontation Public Beta 1.40 Patch will be released on Friday, September 26th, at 1200 GMT/UTC (8am EDT, 5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST). The SOCOM Confrontation 1.40 patch addresses the following issues: * Fixed an issue which was causing an abnormally large number of simultaneous kills. * Optimized the Armory so that selecting weapons, attachments and general menu navigation are much faster. * Fixed another issue where you could get stuck in spectator cam when late joining a game. * Fixed an issue where occasionally late joiners would have very low framerate and crash when exiting a game. * Fixed an issue where occasionally late joiners would have no audio. * Statistics improvements. Statistics are now being tracked at the team level and not the player level. This will ensure stats are tracked for dropped and late joining players. * Further improved load times for late joiners. * Fixed several stability issues. The following changes were made based on user feedback: * Added new burst firing accuracy tuning when moving. You are now more accurate for the initial burst while moving but accuracy deteriorates as you continue to fire more shots. * Scopes are now accurate. * The select screen scoreboard is now exited by pressing the select button. * Improved tiebreaker rules. * New HUD animation to indicate when you are reloading. * Crosshairs now turn grey when your magazine is empty. We are actively looking into the following issues which are known to exist in the 1.40 patch. These issues will be fixed in a future update. * The select screen scoreboard, round complete and game complete screens appear blank. * Infrequently, some users loose controller functionality for a couple of seconds. Please note, this patch also adds game logic to limit the number of people who can late join a game to 5 at a time. If more than 5 people attempt to late join the game you receive a "Game Full" error even though there are still slots in the game. This will be improved in a future update. Also note, the network latency detection has been added back in. We believe that we have now worked out most of the issues with this. Please report in the SOCOM Confrontation PlayStation.com forums if you are seeing the "red X" disconnect icon under normal gameplay conditions.
