View Full Version : Poll : Would Cahill Make Man United XI?
Dick-Sucker 09-14-2008, 08:26 PM Im just curious as to whether Cahill would make Man U XI? I mean im watching Berbatov start there, and Cahill is by far the better footballer of the two. Positional play, aerial ability.
But it would be an interesting question. I do think he would link up very well with Rooney. And Tevez.
Mickey Maguire 09-14-2008, 08:50 PM He would make the bench, probably be rotated so he would start some matches.
But he wouldn't be a certainty every time.
I don't think he is better than Anderson, who has a better vision and passing range. He isn't better than Hargreaves (although obviously they are a different kind of player, so it depends who he plays alongside).
I'd rather have him then Carrick, who i don't rate too highly. Scholes is getting on a bit, but also has a better vision and passing range. But he gets more goals than Scholes and has more pace.
And that statement about him being far the better footballer in comparison to Berbatov is mind-boggling and begs the question, have you seen more than one game involving Berbatov?.
Also depends where you would play him, upfront with Rooney or Tevez, wouldn't work because neither are out and out strikers. He could link up nicely with Berbatov, but whether he would be better up there than Tevez or Rooney is highly doubtful.
Alexis Vastine 09-14-2008, 09:14 PM If shit players like Rooney and carrick can make it, then why not? Cahill would probably punch his weight unlike them two bums who hide behind better players.

Actually. Yeh i do agree, with your comparisons.
Cahill may not have the long passing game or vision of the others, but he sure makes up for that with his aeiral ability.
Yeh with Berbatov, on his day hes dynamyte. But 6 times out of 10 he will be quiet. You will see this season with Man U mate.
I would just love to see how Cahill would go with Rooney and Tevez. And being fed wide from Giggs and using Scholes vision. I really think he would excel.
And he would do better than both Tevez and Rooney are doing now.

Yeh. I thought for the last two seasons he had been fluking it. But now its kind of realizing, that Cahill maybe is a class player. Very dominant.
Funny enough is, hes doing well in a team that doesn't suit his style of play that much. I think with one of the top 4 clubs, he would score a lot more.
Alexis Vastine 09-14-2008, 11:23 PM Just skimmed through some of the lond winded repluies. People need to realise that Anderson is shit, he can't pass for shit and bottled it on weekend so many times. I couldn't see Cahill do that with his temperement.
Also, can Anderson hargreaves and Carrick really play in an attacking role? not really, as the two englishmen are really holding midfielders and Anderson is a so called bnox to box midfielder who can't shoot! Scholes is knocking on a bit but is still the top choice for the scum to add any attacking element to the game. after a careful review, i have to say that Cahill would probably be a regular. Also, ferguson likes underrated players even though sometimes some of them turn out to be shit.

I think Cahill would turn into like a major name player if he went to Man U, like Ronalo or Rooney. Or close.
Mickey Maguire 09-15-2008, 08:14 AM He hasn't got age on his side though. Every player that we have mentioned is younger than Cahill, some by many many years.
Joe2608 09-16-2008, 08:38 AM No i don't think he would.

i think Berbatov is a better player than Cahill but to answer your question yes Cahill would probably get in the United team if Fletcher can get in it then Cahill has a great chance also Cahill is a goal scoring midfielder and they not easy to come by
Dick-Sucker 09-16-2008, 09:26 AM Whats the age argument?
Its about how good you are, not your age.
Cahill seems to be getting better with age.
I can only see him getting better if he stays injury free.
Hes the best player in the air, in the world, well close to it, for heading ability and inside the box diagonal runs.

:lol1:
Cahill is a decent player but he is no Xavi,Cesc,Essien, you seem to think he is a lot better than he actually is
Mickey Maguire 09-16-2008, 11:21 AM He's nearly 30, you think United will want to buying someone who has only got a few seasons in him?.
Alexis Vastine 09-16-2008, 05:43 PM united buy all sorts of shit so why not? It will add quality to their team. Since he plays for our real rivals (who give us a tough game) Everton, might I suggest he is too good for Utd?
Terrible for once your talking some sense, cahill is an average player in terms of ability, who has hit his peak so will be good for a while. Nothing more.
The dude said best player in the world in air, not midfielder which would have been outlandish too. LOL, that is completely wrong if you just look at the forwards in the Prem alone: Gerrard, Crouch, Torres, Keane, Owen, Fowler, Ngog, Heskey, Bellamy, Cisse, El Zhar, Benayoun, Babel,Vitor Coutinho Flora and Dirk Kuyt!

Its pretty easy to say. Apart from Miroslav Klose, Cahill is the best aerial player in the world. Using his head that is.
Another 5 good seasons left in him!

well C Ronaldo is better in the air than Cahill and Drogba puts him to shame
Crespo,Ballack,Toni all have a shout at being better than Cahill aswell
Iamnotausername 09-17-2008, 12:03 PM This guy said Mundine is the best athlete in the world :nonono:
Cahill is a good player, but noweher near best in the air. For one, most target men are better in the air than him. If he was on a Les Ferdinand trip I could understand the arguement, but he's nowhere near that level of aerial ability.

It doesn't end there! Even some of his team mates are better in the air than him. And Everton are shit!
**** that, even shitty John Terry (who has never scored with his foot!) is better in the air than Cahill!

I never said that idiot. I said its open to debate. You can't classify one sport as greater then the other. Maybe do some reading you drip.

Are you fkn serious lol? If there better then him in the air, why does Cahill score more goals with his head then the Everton team put together.
ROFLMAO.
Get real mate.

John Terry scores what a goal a season? Cahill scores close to 10 with his head. I think the comparisons are stupid. One is a defender the other one an attacking midfielder.
Do you think Terry would outscore Cahill if he was an attackive midfielder.
ROFLMAO!

They showed this on setanta today.
Everton games with Cahill last season was 18 = points gained were 40
Games without TC = 22 by memory = points were 18
Now if you can find me a more influential player in the PL, i doubt you can. Even without Ronaldo Man U would still stack up around the same, minus 12 points or so. Everton loose 22 points a season without Cahill being there.
Dick-Sucker 09-17-2008, 07:58 PM well C Ronaldo is better in the air than Cahill and Drogba puts him to shame

LMAO are you retarded? When does Ronaldo win contested headers?
He doesn't!
Cahill wins headers that are contested. Ronaldo taps them in.
If you can't see how one is better than the other in the air, and also better than Drogba, then you guys need help!
Cahill = Best aerial player in the world.

Ronaldo has scored some great headers. His leap is amazing and he attacks the ball very hard shown by some great headers.
Nani Anderson Carrick Owen Hargravas 4 signing which helped them win the UCL and the EPL. I don’t see Cahill making the squad at all. Also Cahill best aerial player, you ****ing must be kidding me and never mention Ronaldo and Cahill in the same sentence.
Dick-Sucker 09-18-2008, 05:36 PM cant be bothered to argue with such a retard its pointless
You can't be bothered to argue, because you are retarded. And it takes so much effort to remember a few simple words and type them.
:asshole:

Are you ****ing serious? Are you that stupid?
Did you see Ronaldos header in the champions league? Lol at point blank, he put it wide, and it was uncontested.
Ronaldo does not win contested headers. Cahill does.
Im not to sure how you ****wits can't see this. Cahill may be flawed with his passing and shooting. But his heading is A + and only Miroslav Kloser can rival this. And possibly Fringe.
You guys are stupid stupid and more stupid.
Do you reckon Ronaldo could win a contested header over Vidic? like Cahill did at old trafford last year.
Face it your all a bunch of dumb arses. Who don't know shit about soccer.
Man United are struggling. And Cahill shits over Carrick and Anderson, and even Scholes now. He could do a better job.
Morons!
Iamnotausername 09-18-2008, 05:59 PM :nonono:
Its not even worth arguing with you. You're too retarded.
Cahill's a decent player, thats it! He is not the best at anything apart from being an Aussie football player.

That is why they won the title and the UCL, right. Last season they had an even worse start and won. Cahill wouldn't crack into the Liverpool 11
Mickey Maguire 09-18-2008, 08:50 PM Ultimate (or whatever the hell he calls himself these days) would argue that a Kangaroo would beat a prime Tyson in a fight, until he was blue in the face. He is just that kind of guy.

Yeh those 3 players were being carried, by 8 extraodinary players.
Seriously if you can't see Cahill is better in the air, then Scholes, Ronaldo, Carrick and Anderson.
Then you really are ****ed!
All of you!

Come on.
Cahill is so good in the air! Hes like up there with Miroslav Klose!
We all have to agree on that.
Calling Ronaldo as good as Cahill in the air, is fricking ludicrous! In Every Way!
