YUHHHHHHH! 09-12-2008, 11:20 PM Okay, I'll first tell you about my daily routine. [Weekdays]
Wake up, grab a drink.
6AM - Jog for 30 minutes.
Back to sleep for a few hours.
Wake up (Usually) around 9/10AM.
60 Crunches, Straight Leg lifts, 50 push ups.
Go about my day, I eat healthy and nutritious. A lot of all natural products.
10PM: 20lb Bicep Reverse Curl Warm up, 55lb dumbbell heavy pump - 30 Reps, Forearm Curl, 50 Push ups.
Either Chest/ab exorcises depending on the day.
Work 12AM - 3AM
Rinse & Repeat
Okay, now that is [roughly] my typical Weekday routine. I'm a solid 6', 221lbs. Added with all of that, I'd like to ask a question. Typical forearm curls have been good for me in the past, but I'd like to increase my size/solidity more so than I already have. At home, I've got about 380lbs, a bench, preacher curl, heavy bag and pull-up bar available. Do any of you have any odd workouts to increase forearm strength?
'ENRY COOPER 09-13-2008, 10:19 AM Forearms you're looking at doing wrist curls mainly:
Sit and grasp a cable bar with a narrow to shoulder width underhand grip. Rest forearms on thighs with wrists just beyond knees. Allow the cable bar to roll out of the palms down to the fingers. Grip cable bar back up and flex wrists. Lower and repeat
Or you can do them over a bench/table or whatever:
Place a barbell beside a flat bench and the kneel on the other side of the bench. Hold the bar palms down with your hands about 16 inches apart. Place your forearms flat on the bench and put the back of your wrists on the edge of the bench. Lower bar as far as possible, then curl bar up as high as possible. Do not move your forearms! Can also be done with two dumbbells.
Also, about your routine, I'm no expert, but working the same muscle everyday (your biceps) hinders growth/strength development. You should probably only work body parts once or twice a week. Maybe throw in more back + tricep (eg skullcrushers) work into your routine as well.
Peace.

wheres the boxing? or u just training to get your body in shape?
Squirrel 09-13-2008, 11:51 AM There's no boxing in this regime?
If you're going for fitness, conditioning, bulking or strength building then your regime is pretty poor to be honest.

Yeah, my bicep workout is really just to tone. Not to sound like an *******, but I usually take the 55lbs with no problem and have no grip problems after wards. I haven't done Skullcrushers since Highschool football, thanks for the reminder. I'll try it out tonight.

Sorry I forgot to add that my weekends are mostly a night out with some friends/playing some Gears of War, [lol I'm a Super Mega Nerd on the inside.] Or training at my local boxing gym on a heavy bag/speed bag. I ordered an HD camera so I can post some videos on here for you guys. I want to find some sparring partners, but I have been unlucky so far. Either way, I can't get enough of the Heavy bag, I love hitting **** and making a lot of noise. I'm improving on the Speed bag as well.
I haven't had any amateur boxing bouts, watching the people who have done it at the gym, I really don't see anything that I couldn't do. But I know that it is easier said than done, I'd really like to try it some day. I'm only 19, but I've been in quite a few fights. I'm a bouncer/doorman at a club, hence my odd job hours.

Pull-ups good all round excercise that work the fores, I do with hanging on to ledge (a large square wooden beam) so I cant wrap my fingers around a bar (which is easier) this will help grip and work fores. Also dead lifts, and shrugs (trap) exercises with heavy weights will hit the fores hard,
Spambo boy 09-13-2008, 04:59 PM Here is my routine.
6.30 Woke up, got out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, i noticed i was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and i went into a dream
Ah

I feel like a real snobby ***** on this forum sometimes. I certainly don't claim to be a good boxer, I train hard but I haven't been doing it long enough to honestly criticize... but the number of guys who compare boxing to street fighting and don't respect the time and the patience and skill required to be good, or to even have a decent amature fight is disturbing.
So with that being said, come round to my gym, I'll spar you based on your ignorance.

1.) I never compared anything to street fighting. Boxing is completely different.
2.) It's wrong to believe that I could become an amateur boxer? I didn't know believing in yourself was fodder for criticism.
3.) You accuse me of ignorance, yet you make blind assumptions about somebody you don't even know? Step off.

That's how your post comes across. I'm definitely not judging you as a person, cause then I would be ignorant. I believe anyone can learn to box or even be a pro, and should never let age, fitness or whatever hold them back.
Your post gives me the impression that you think cause you are a bouncer and have been in fights and like hitting the heavy bag you are ready to go now...
Do you have a trainer?
peewee1460 09-13-2008, 07:35 PM if you enjoy street fighting, give dana white a call. don't assume that being in the ring is easy. your first time in the ring will not be an easy experience. I'm sure you can bang on the heavy bag and be real loud and scary and i'm also sure that if you were put in the ring with someone your size who had their game together you'd get beaten, bloodied and battered for every single second of each and every round.
peewee1460 09-13-2008, 07:36 PM that being said, if you work hard and learn the sport you'll do well.

It's not your fault for assuming these things, really. You're more than likely a small town guy, that has dealt/heard of small town bouncers, right?
I'm not ignorant. I use what I was blessed with as a job for now, I don't think the way that you think I do. I'm a humble person, but thanks for making a rude generalization anyways.

I never said that it would be easy. I'm also pretty sure I never said that I had any idea what it's like to be in an amateur boxing match. I would certainly hope if someone trains every day to box, that they would be able to do that to me.
sukhenkoy 09-13-2008, 08:19 PM An experienced boxer will embarrass a street fighter in the ring. I've seen it happen countless times at my gym.

I agree 100%. I don't understand why people think I am claiming to be a good boxer, I clearly said that I've never done any amateur boxing.
Oriachim 09-14-2008, 03:40 AM I hate bouncers, they are so power mad where I come from.

I come to the conclusion that you associate boxing/bouncing/street fighting together, because you linked these ideas together in your own post. I have no further opinion about what you think of these things... I have no idea.
And now for your assumption of me... CLASSIC! I love it.
I don't live in a small town, but I do like them. They have cheap beer, great fish and chips and you can do cool stuff like fishing and roo shooting.
I've lived in about 15 countries, and all of them had small towns... except for some reason I've never had a problem with bouncers. Actually, lots of my friends work in security or in clubs and pubs and I've done so myself.
Oh, and I'm not a guy. I'm a girl for god's sake.

yeah, it's all about skills and technique, i've seen a few "king of the streets" types get schooled when they step into a real ring... there's no substitute for proper technique, especially knowing how to cover up. i've seen and been in a few streetfights with untrained guys, and they never know how to cover up and protect themselves

Yes true but a good boxer isn't neccasry a good street fighter either, because on the streets people use weapons, wrestling, kicking, charging etc... Reason boxing is a sport is because of the rules/styles etc that go with it. Hence the fact Naseem Hamed got battered in a pub recently. (my mate from sheffield said that hes always getting in trouble since the hit and run incident).

yeah, a streetfight doesn't happen in a boxing ring, but boxing teaches good balance and other things useful in any kind of fighting
YUHHHHHHH! 09-16-2008, 12:18 PM Jesus Christ, how did my post turn into "STREET FIGHTERS CANT BOX."
peewee1460 09-16-2008, 05:13 PM bricks i'll have to admit i have sympathy for you because you seem like a pretty decent guy.
