Same as the Lil' Wayne thread.

On a scale of 1-10

10 period. Can rap about anything without coming off as too preachy. From iced out to politicaled out (even though that's not a word). His voice and presence on a track is the best I've heard. What would you say his downfall is his flow? I disagree and it's subjective anyway. Regardless his flow on Illmatic and It Was Written is only rivaled by Snoop on Doggstyle.

I think that Nas is a 9. He's more than solid at whatever he does on the microphone and he's one of the few mc's today who still has something to say that means anything. I think that one of his major drawbacks is that his actual flow and delivery is below many other artist in our genre. And since this is a genre where most fans look at "how" it's said rather than "what" is said, that does hurt him in the long run. In terms of his overall career, he's been pretty solid although the infamous Nastradamus album was a pretty big stumbling block. I think that he has classic albums in Illmatic, It Was Written, and The Lost Tapes.

He also has SEVERAL classic tracks such as One Love, The World Is Yours, If I Ruled The World, I Gave You Power, Favor for a Favor, etc. (I'm going to name all of them). With his resume, I don't at all think that it's out of the question to assume that Nas can possibly the best emcee that our genre has produced thus far.

Agreed, 9 . As an old school Hip hop head i really can't ignore a rapper's presence on the mic, that was a qualifiction for an emcee even before lyrics were.
