View Full Version : Most likely fight for De La Hoya?
INFAMOUZ 11-03-2004, 02:52 PM Anyone care to guess where Oscar goes from here?
DLH - vs. Tito, Wright/Mosley winner, or just retires?
I can see him taking some time off to regroup, but where does he go once he's ready to fight again. I still think he has a few good fights left in him and there could be some interesting matchups ahead if he decides to pursue anyone at the top of the 154 or 150 category.
jabsRstiff 11-03-2004, 02:55 PM He'll fight Vargas. Then the loser of Wright-Mosley.
Maybe Mayorga or Forrest, as long as both look terible in their return bouts.
The only guy I want to see Oscar in with is tito, Oscar recognizes that there is unfinished business, how come tito and papa tito don't. They act like they beat Oscar up so bad that a rematch is pointless. So what if he has not looked like a great fighter in his last few outings papa tito, the majority of the boxing world still thinks tito was beaten in the first fight, and through eight rounds it looked like two fighters on two different levels. Oscar vs. Tito....other than that who cares.
It is a very good question though, where does Oscar go? if not tito I think he could outbox ouma, maybe Kassim is the next guy.
jabsRstiff 11-03-2004, 03:14 PM Oscar would NEVER face a guy like Ouma....a tough-ass lefty who is high-risk & low-reward.
PRboxingfan 11-03-2004, 03:18 PM Oscar would NEVER face a guy like Ouma....a tough-ass lefty who is high-risk & low-reward.
Ding, ding, ding! I think he'd come back to 154 and try for Santos, probably. He won't fight Mosley again, Winky would beat his pants off, Forrest would KO his ass, Ouma is too much of a risk and would probably beat him, too.
I'd say Mayorga or Santos are the best shots for ODLH right now.
What do you think of tito v. oscar and why it has not happened in the last few years and why it won't happen know public relations boxing fan.
Jab-I agree that Ouma would be a high risk low reward type fight but I think it is a belt that Oscar can easily win. Granted Ouma is a lefty but look at his fights, everyone he fights comes straight at him and dukes it out, phone booth syle. Oscar would build an early lead on the cards and Ouma would have to come come come and then keep coming hoping that the legendary fade of hoya would happen. But on paper I think this is a very winnable fight for oscar.
Tito why not make 20-30 million, maybe it's cause you understand like all of us cult fans do that styles make fights and your style is not right for goldie. And by losing two this hispanic wannabbee it would hurt your public relation boxing fans out there way too much. I mean Puerto Rican boxing fans, sorry I got confused what PR meant.
jabsRstiff 11-03-2004, 03:34 PM Sure....Oscar COULD win against Ouma.
But, Oscar isn't into COULD unless there's a really big dollar amount attatched to it.
Oscar cannot beat Trinidad at this stage.
Oscar is too hittable...& doesn't have the legs to RUN the whole fight.
Plus, if that arm punch to his SIDE, from Hop, dropped him.....I can't see him taking a Tito left down there.
m00ks 11-03-2004, 03:36 PM He'll fight Vargas. Then the loser of Wright-Mosley.
Maybe Mayorga or Forrest, as long as both look terible in their return bouts.
I don't know if Vargas will ever fight DLH again. Still it would be at 160 so maybe it's a better deal for Vargas. Jab, Who would u give an edge to if ever there's a rematch (160).
jabsRstiff 11-03-2004, 03:41 PM I don't know if Vargas will ever fight DLH again. Still it would be at 160 so maybe it's a better deal for Vargas. Jab, Who would u give an edge to if ever there's a rematch (160).
Oscar....
Vargas is shot.
Truth 11-03-2004, 03:43 PM I think a Vargas fight will be his next move.
Sure....Oscar COULD win against Ouma.

First off Oscar could fight me or you and there would be a big dollar amount in it.
As for Tito, cmon, Hopkins barely laid a glove on Oscar for eigth rounds, obviously BHOP was winning but it was a very difficult chess match(When is the last itme BHOP may have thought he was losing in a fight...JOINES JR, Bernard was scared about how this one was going). As for the body shot, this is the first time Oscar has been ko'd and I will give him the benefit of the doubt that it was a perfect shot.(that punch caught no part of oscar's arm, maybe you are referring to how Bhop threw it, I don't know). Tito would catch alot more shots than Bhop did against Oscar and just does not do well against people who will move. Agree/disagree on who would win thats great, agree that this is a fight that should happen, if Oscar sucks he will make tito 20-30million and get ko'd, who else has can tito fight with that kind of reward?
m00ks 11-03-2004, 03:47 PM Ding, ding, ding! I think he'd come back to 154 and try for Santos, probably. He won't fight Mosley again, Winky would beat his pants off, Forrest would KO his ass, Ouma is too much of a risk and would probably beat him, too.

Santos isn't of the same caliber. Mayorga at 160 can't hold it together. Yep, good choices for DLH.
jabsRstiff 11-03-2004, 03:53 PM The punch Hop floored Oscar with was far from perfect. It was an arm punch, it had NOTHING on it. It didn't sink in, or shift any part of Oscar's body.
I have NEVER seen a world class fighter drop from that kind of body shot.
It BOUNCED off of Oscar's side.
Your body is not your temple, or the top of your head...where GLANCING blows make your legs do funny thngs.
For a body shot to take effect, something internal has to get whacked. That **** slapped some skin & touched some ribs.
Either Oscar has a glass side, or glass balls.
As for him making Hop miss......big deal.
Hopkins wasn't stepping in with his shots & for whatever reason...seemed tentative.
Don't tell me Oscar gave him anything to benervous about...because at 160, Oscar's featherfisted.
Again I will give Oscar the benefit of the doubt, I do disagree with you when you say that the body is not the temple. Have you ever falen on a football wrong? Do that and you will be ****ed for a minute or two, look at the Dorin body shot, that little ****er has been through hell and he got hit with one great body shot and forget about it, so the body in a way is like the temple, it can disconnect you for a moment. As for how great the body shot was, who the hell knows, does it have to be thrown hard, or break something inside to be ok with you, what if it was placement, not the most powerful shot but the perfect shot? You and I will never know how good/bad that shot was...only Oscar knows and like I said I will give him the benefit of the doubt this time.
As for making Nard miss, or Nard not really asserting himself, granted Oscar is featherfisted at 160 but give him credit, BHOP was not willing to attack, thats a fact-if NArd was not himself you have to give Oscar some credit for that, it wasn't like he ran from Bernard.

Well I think that benefit of the doubt is probably what convinced him to go down. I've fallen on a football wrong. I fell on it when it was upright and stabbed me in the gut. You can't breath. But I wouldn't compare that with Nards shot. Even B-hop was surprised DLH went down.
Sir_Jose 11-03-2004, 04:37 PM My god could jabRsriff be a bigger hater? some of the **** he says is just so ****ing stupid its not even funny?
DLH afraid of Ouma? Im a huge Ouma fan, but no way in hell does he ever beat DLH. In case you didn't notice Ouma looked like **** last time out.
I think he fights Winky. DLH would be favored against Spinks and Wright if those fights were made.
borikua 11-03-2004, 04:52 PM he needs to fight at weter or super welter...he will get killed at middle...
bigdlb12 11-03-2004, 05:24 PM I say he should fight spinks or Zab, IMO he can beat them either one, after that he should go for Joppy and then Trinidad and if he beats tito, his last fight vs Hopkins9 win, lose or draw, call it quits
bigdlb12 11-03-2004, 05:25 PM I say he should fight spinks or Zab, IMO he can beat them either one, after that he should go for Joppy and then Trinidad and if he beats tito, his last fight vs Hopkins

bigdlb12 11-03-2004, 05:25 PM I say he should fight spinks or Mayo, IMO he can beat them either one, after that he should go for Joppy and then Trinidad and if he beats tito, his last fight vs Hopkins
win,lose or draw,call it quits
bigdlb12 11-03-2004, 05:37 PM dlh said he would never fight margarito

You need watch Klitschko v. Lewis again to see what an arm punch looks like. I clearly cannot just post in the lounge because I have to keep you in line.

As was the case with Duran & a few others.....DLH is over the hill! The only result of another fight/s, is DLH beating himself. He's got plenty of money...still fairly good looking...nice wife, home life...Too much male macho ego ****!
He will end up as a washed out, punch drunk idiot, if he carries on. IMO, he is already 4 fights over the limit!
In his last fight, the only thing he hit with intent, was the ring floor...in frustration at being counted out! He's becoming the Golden Boy without the 'G.'

My God, you are a little sensitive Oscar nuthugger.
It doesn't matter whether Oscar can beat Ouma or not, you idiot, it's the fact that he's a tough fighter who wouldn't bring the $$$ with him.
Tell me....when is the last time Oscar faced a YOUNG, up & coming type of fighter ?
Castilliejo ? Vargas ? ? Gatti ?
No, FOOL...he NEVER fights guys like Ouma.
Not out of fear....but out of shrewdness.
I speak the truth about Oscar, sorry. Clowns like you are so in love with him.....you won't even admit that he *****ED out & stole your money back in September.
Gimmee a break Jose...I'm no Oscar-hater. I just tell it like it is with him. Sorry, his jizz has you drunk & stupid.
GxBrak 11-05-2004, 02:04 PM guys guys i hate it when you fight, lets be friends. there there come on lets hug...all that i am saying is give peace a chance
Prorock 11-05-2004, 02:16 PM "Tune-up" in the first. Than it may be Tito, Winky, Sugar...
PRboxingfan 11-05-2004, 03:29 PM Santos isn't of the same caliber. Mayorga at 160 can't hold it together. Yep, good choices for DLH.
What? I give Santos the edge over DLH right now because DLH is over the hill, IMHO. DLH had said, before the Nard fight, that if he losed he'd return to 154. That's why I put Mayorga (who also said recently he's coming back to 154) and Santos because I doubt ODLH will fight Winky (who would win 10 rounds against him) or Ouma, the other two title holders in the division.
dpfinley 11-06-2004, 01:57 AM Cotto is at the top of my up-and-coming list. He has the heavy-hitter power in a small package - everyone loves that.
DLH vs Trinidad is a future possibility. Oscar still has something to prove - I want to see it, regardless of the outcome.
As for Mayweather being the future of boxing... his future is taking it in the ass in prison for a few years. Another talented fighter who can't stay out of trouble, and constantly beats on his woman. What a badass!
maxpayne 11-06-2004, 02:14 AM dlh vs tito Its to much money for them to turn down. i don't expect that dlh take a tune up fight.
dpfinley 11-06-2004, 02:29 AM That is easily the biggest money fight for any two fighters right now, especially with Tito looking positive in his comeback. And you know DLH needs to win a BIG fight to keep his career going strong. I hope he doesn't waste his next fight on a tune-up contender, because as we all witnessed with Sturm, that may not be worth the risk.
phallus 11-06-2004, 02:30 AM Winky Wright could be a good fight for Oscar, Wright is very skilled but he's not a big puncher - he'd probably shame dlh but wouldn't hurt him too much, besides his ego. Spinks would be another good fight for dlh, although at this time i see Spinks winning, he's a clever and slick boxer, and i know he's hungrier for the win than dlh, a rematch with Tito could also be good
Neuraxis 11-06-2004, 03:23 AM How is DLH over the hill? Just because he doesn't belong at middleweight does not mean that he is over the hill. This just in he won more rounds against Hopkins than Tito did. So I guess Tito should retire as well.
phallus 11-06-2004, 03:47 AM over the hill??? i never said anything about dlh being over the hill, it's just that he's not hungry anymore. i don't think he's realized that he doesn't want to fight anymore. He can be in there for a few rounds, but once it gets tough, he starts thinking " Why am i still doing this?"
FistoftheDallasStar 11-07-2004, 12:12 AM This might be true but I think a Tito vs Oscar fight would bring the best out of both fighters.
