them_apples 08-30-2008, 02:40 PM he was, but he should have been able to finnish Douglas off, goes to show Tyson had slid...into a one punch fighter, he was beating fighters based on physical attributes and fear..where as in his younger years he was using skill.
mspiegelo 08-30-2008, 03:04 PM yes... that ref ****ed up. you have to pick up the count from the time keeper. you can see the time keeper at 5 when the ref just gets to three. i counted a 13 second knockdown.... still mike should have never fired kevin rooney. he was far from peak form for this debacle of a fight...

I've seen worse problems in Boxing but it does 'appear' the count was slow.....either way how Mike didn't finish him is the real question and how Douglas mustered the heart and courage to come back and actually beat Iron Mike is another.....He was on a mission that night, it was destiny.

As you know a lot of the fight game is mental.
If you just saw a guy get a long count it can affect your game.
Tyson was also not trained to his best for this fight.
His own fault yes but truth is by the rules of the game he should have won.

No matter all of that is Mikes fault.....I don't feel any pitty for him.

Fair enough.
How would you feel if it was you?

A typical response when you have zero intelligence.
FACT is Douglas went down for more than 10 seconds.
Rules state he should have LOST.
FACT is TYSON WAS ROBBED.
Whether YOU like it OR NOT.
For the record...I don't care.
I just state FACT.
You have NOTHING for your argument but OPINION.
And yours is WORTHLESS based on your response.
No constructive account for your opinion.
You FAIL.
Again.

lol....you're taking this far too serious Phil. Again, have a nice day Phil....or try to anyway seems this is really bugging you. it happened almost 19 years ago Phil....give yourself a break ok.....
wpink1 08-30-2008, 04:06 PM False...The rules are the fighter....The Fighter is to listen to the referee and whatever pace, count the referee has, it is the referee's count and instructions to the fighter that is official. Not the official time keeper. The exchange between the time keeper and referee is exactly that. between them two.
You expect the fighter to listen to the time keeper
Finally if you look at the fight, yu will clearly see douglas was ready to get up long before the referee reached 10. He even hit the canvas in frusteration of being knocked down.. He did exactly as he was supposed to do. He took as long as he could to clear his head, and got up before THE REFEREE reached 10. Exaclty what they train fighters to do.
Seems this is aolways left out of the analysis. Once again ifyou boxed you would know that the figher follows the referee instructions and is always told to take as long as possible getting up to clear his head.
TheGreatA 08-30-2008, 04:31 PM Absolutely not. I thought this myth was busted almost as soon as it started but I guess some people still believe it.

marciano1952 08-30-2008, 06:37 PM no dougless wasnt hurnt when he went down and could have gotton up at any time he wanted but decided to take his time while getting up
randy johnson 08-30-2008, 10:38 PM Who says Buster Douglas couldnt have got up sooner? You cant determine that and the point is Douglas still knocked out that cowardly rapist.
Smokin'J 09-03-2008, 10:43 AM its also mike tyson's fault for not stopping don king for firing the only guy that was left alive caring about mike, kevin
