Most of us have a place we go to relax or just to get away from people. Do you hide in your basement? Go for a drive? Sit at a lake? Visit a friend?

The bathroom is the best room in the house for meditating. I lock myself in there with a good book and some air freshener...good times.

I've got three choices. They're all based on time and money.
1. Just getting off of work: I goto one of two of my favourite coffee places, the General Mercantile (an old barnwood/montana style), or the Firetower Cafe (a local structural firefighter owns it, and it's totally decorated with firefighter memorabilia).
2. Want to get lost for a day: I grab my fly-fishing gear, two good cigars, couple of yummy beers, and drive to Hauser Dam, and go fishing below it. Big browns, rainbows and walleye. Lots of eagles, merganzers, ospreys, steep gorgeous canyon access. Lewis & Clark cruised up the area (the Missouri starts out from under the dam).
3. Extended weekend (3 days and disposable cash): Chico Hot Springs. 5 star restaurant, very reasonable rooms, and it's set in the drop dead gorgeous Paradise Valley. Lots of Hollywood stars goto Chico, no pretenses though, snobs are not welcome. You can soak all night under the stars in the outdoor pool and order drinks from the poolside bar. Afterwards, you and your choice of date can go and sit in front of the fireplace, or lounge in the ****tail bar, stroll the gardens and watch falling stars, or go back to the room and re-soak in the italian tiled jacuzzi in the room....

Montana ****ing rules!!

RELAX????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Seriously, though. I TRY to relax in my sewing room. I need to install a lock on the inside of the room so no one can enter when I am trying to escape. I sew to relax.....love to sew....and make gifts.....and clothes.....and other things....:)

I get on my bike and ride, best get-away ever, clears my mind, relaxes me, and no one has to be near me or with me to enjoy it.

Lookout Mountain off Laurel Canyon. I have no way to get there right now without a car. To far to walk.

I lived on the other side of the state.
I didn't know about the fires. I haven't really been watching the news much lately. Tired of this Gov. crap already.

Is it because all the bums off of 110 Freeway make you feel better about yourself? Yeah, me too.

Half a million acres of forest went up this summer in Montana. It was an insane year, Montana was the biggest show in the nation. I was on the Lincoln Complex, north of Helena by 40 minutes. Missoula got it's ass handed to them. The whole damn state was choked with smoke and ash. Didn't see a clear sky for over a month. We have had some significant cooldowns with snow and the fall settling in, so the fire show has been over for about 3 weeks. Some are so large that only the winter will put them out, but thats the way it goes up here. Lightning and fire are intergral parts of Montana's ecosystem, -just nature doing her work. I got to go out on a few thru volunteering with the Red Cross, and bringing firefighters and emergency workers dinner, etc. Very fun stuff....
