My two favorites happen to be:

1. Bahamadia
2. Jean Grae

Both of these women rap just as well as most of their male counterparts. Gonna throw up 3-4 of my favorite tracks from both.

Bahamadia...

Feel free to add some others. I really like Lauren Hill, Shawna and Foxy Brown too. Obviously I acknowledge the pioneers like MC Lyte and The Queen too.

Anybody else got some favorites or shout outs? Female artists are rarely the topic of convo on this forum, so I had to give em some love.

One-4-Teen (Funky For You) is my favorite track outta all of them. I had that **** on repeat the first time I heard it. "Pep Talk" is another gem.

Lady of rage was definitely ill. The Brat when she first came out ahd some fire. I really don't listen to female emcees though. I've heard Bahamadia through the Sound Bombim 3 album.

The Lady Of Rage was the greatest female lyricist of all time, too bad nessary Roughness sucked due to bad production, Afro Puffs was the **** and Break down was nice from her album
