One punch power- Earnie Shavers

Shavers is the hardest hitting heavyweight ever.

But, Joe Louis is the BEST puncher ever in the heavyweight division.
Joe was history's most complete offensive machine.

I don't agree.

If Earnie Shavers or Joe Louis hit Frazier as much as Fore....wait, that's not possible, Frazier woulda been out long before that.

Ali -- who took from alot of those listed on the board -- said Shavers hit the hardest of anyone he ever faced.

Muhammad Ali, who fought the likes of Frazier, Liston, and Foreman, called Earnie Shavers the hardest hitting fighter he ever faced. That's enough for me.

What the hell do experts know about who hits the hardest. Have they taken a punch from those mother-****ers?

RockyMarciano
11-03-2004, 06:22 PM
Foreman then Marciano

There have been tons of guys who could hit insanely hard.
I wonder how hard George Foreman would hit with those 2oz gloves they wore during the Corbett-Fitzimmons era.
It seems like Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, and Jack Dempsey caused the most damage with their punches though, could be the gloves. I don't know if Foreman ever gave someone serious injuries.
John L. Sullivan supposedly deformed peoples faces...but that's with skintight gloves, basically oven mitts.

i think Shavers is the hardest hitter ever, i'll take Ali's word, he sampled some of the harderst punchers in history. He took Liston's, Foreman's, Frazier's, and Marciano's shots, i think we should listen to Ali, he would know. "Experts" didn't get hit with what Ali did

I was going with what my Pop said Foreman, but if Ali said that it's Shavers then, I am sure my dad will also believe Ali....

My pick is Mike Tyson, look what he did to Larry Holmes!!! Don't get me wrong i think all the others were hard hitters but Mike had something different.

11-04-2004, 07:02 AM
Wez....

Holmes also says Shavers was the hardest hitter he ever faced.

& Jack....no one knows for sure....but, if we can't JUDGE who the best hitters are....than I don't want to hear YOU say Whitaker & Floyd were great boxers,. I mean, c'mon EXPERT....how the f*ck would YOU know ?

Should probably agree with ali shavers, number of cases could be made for Louis who kod guys with flurrys of punches, Foreman did have power. Max Baer did have scary power aswell. Dempsey had good power aswell. John L Sullivan hit hard too. 2 many to name one by one.

FistoftheDallasStar

Foreman and Tyson in that order. I think a 40 year old fighter still having the ability to knock out a 20 something Heavyweight Champ in Michael Moorer is all that needs to be said. Amazing.

MikeHunt

It has to be Shavers or Foreman............Why didn't these two ever fight?

ibeestingin

I'd say Shavers, Foreman, Tyson and Liston. Louis would come after them.
