View Full Version : UFC tanks lightweight division
Fury Dragon 09-21-2003, 08:40 PM No More Lightweight Division
In an apparent move to streamline their promotion, Zuffa dropped the Lightweight division (155 lbs and under) from it's ranks. With the title situation in flux since Jens Pulver left the UFC, rumors filled the air that this move was coming. Now an unnamed source close to Zuffa confirmed that the division no longer exists. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
Wow...way to go Zuffa...way to prove how ****ing stupid you are yet again.
The Golden Bear 09-21-2003, 09:33 PM UFC's loss. I loved the light weight division.

ronnie dobbs 09-22-2003, 01:45 PM damn i was hoping to drop 125 pounds and fight in the lightweight division but i guess dreams are crushed.
really stupid move by zuffa
mmafanman 09-22-2003, 02:55 PM So what exactly does that mean? The UFC won't allow 155-pound fights any more?
The Ensanity 09-22-2003, 03:19 PM NO GENKI?!?!??!?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fury Dragon 09-22-2003, 04:31 PM From what's going around they are merging the LW division with the WW division. Obviously if there are fighters who aren't confident in that weight class, they won't fight.
I believe UFC 44 - Undisputed will be the last event with the lightweight division. I'm still looking into this. Unbelievable bull **** though. Zuffa is retarded.

realkaps 09-23-2003, 10:44 AM The hot rumors on the internet, especially one particular site that continues to claim that the 155 pound division will be eliminated, is absolutely not true. The UFC President said that couldn't be further from the truth.
White told MMAWeekly "We are NOT getting rid of the 155 pound division. I don't know where these things come from, but that couldn't be further from the truth."
The UFC President continued saying that "the 155 division is one of the most exciting in the sport. When we get a television deal done we will also be open to expanding to even more weight divisions."
Fallout 09-23-2003, 10:53 AM Good

The Ensanity 09-23-2003, 02:34 PM MORE GEEEEEEENKI!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Beelzebub 09-23-2003, 02:47 PM More Franca, Bang, Sudo...less Tank = Mad Ratings
I never heard about this rumor...What I heard was the complete opposite. I heard the UFC might be adding a 145 lbs division
Fury Dragon 09-23-2003, 04:08 PM My news came from Inside Fighting. Somehow I'm not surprised it's not a good source.
