Evening fellow bum boys,

I have been going through a bit of a personal problem recently.

Throughout the last year i have been in full time employment since i left college and i have noticed an alarming decrease in my capabilities of handling alcohol.

Now i am a relatively small guy (5 foot 8, 9 and a 1/4 stone) but this decrease is baffling me, i am getting older so i should be able to handle more beer right?, wrong.

At the weekend, during your bog standard eveing/night drinking session i don't fair to shabbily. But during an all day drinking session, i am susceptable to one or two flash knockdowns (ala Tito Trinidad), but i do raise to my feet and carry on. Generally lets say during a time period of 12pm-6pm after around 10 pints of Stella, i am ready for collapsing into bed (this is a problem).

During the weekdays things are more problematic, i am regularly finding myself feeling slightly sozzled after 4 pints, which is plain wrong.

Now the only logical explanation i can come up with for the weekdays is a lack of sleep (i generally get between 5 and 6 hours sleep per night)

Fella's is there any correlation between alcohol consuming capabilites and working hours?. Please help restore me to my former glory days.

Bum boys i need your help to elongate my alcohol handling capabilities.

I can only blame it on sleep and tiredness due to you working hard.

I had a party on saturday, and it was a late one I went to bed about 4, and then had another one the next day. I was cream crackered at about 11 that night and had hardly drank that much.

It does have an effect, especially if your stressed... but only mentally. The main factor could actually be the 10 stella's... Stella is probably the worst lager for your body due to the crap they put in it.

the main factors are as follows
How much you usually drink
How quickly you drink
Mood
Weight
The amount you have eaten
Your past experiences with drinking
Your sex

Used to be a pub manager.

I'm tempted to try drinking on holiday, however:

1) i dont wanna get caught, exposed and face the repercussions
2) i dont want to puke up because i cant consume it

My suggestion is to know your enemy. I tailor what I drink to how long I'm out for and do I wish to socialise. I steer clear of Stella and Kronenbourg because I know I can't handle it. So I drink weaker beers if I know I'll be beering over a long period. If I don't wish to go loo every 5 minutes I have mixers instead.

If i just wanna have a short session then I'll increase the strength of the beers I drink (Leffe, Staropramen, Stella, Kronenbourg, etc).

In summary, research your beers and tailor it to your needs.

Had a few pints of that on Tuesday night, still feeling the effects now! Nice beer but lethal!

Cheers fella's, the 10 pints was just an example i'm not like that every week lol.

What do you drink Don Gorgon?, i normally drink Stella or Kronenbourg, or even Strongbow where i go. I like Grolsch and Beck's too. I don't really like the cheap stuff of Carling and Carlsberg anymore compared to the others. & to me Fosters is undrinkable.

So does that bollocks of eating a huge meal before you go out actually work?. What about lining the stomach with a pint of milk lol.

I hardly ever drink, and this is what i dont understand...why do u want to drink more?? Doesnt that mean more money? I would have thought it would be a good thing to get pissed easier. Unless its just 'keeping up with ur mates' kinda thing.

Just drink slow no?

I tend to go for Carling/Fosters/Carlsberg if it's a long night. I understand why you wouldn't like Carling or Fosters because they're very weak. A big meal can work, a steak would probably work best.

As someone else just said drinking bottles is another means of not getting trolleyed.

Stella and Kronenbourg are my achilles heel, I tend to avoid as I know there won't be a happy ending.

Another method would be having a couple of Stella/Kronenbourgs then moving on to mixers.
