Concerning my son:

The last couple of days have been better. It's been a week since I started giving him the choice of left or right. All I had to do was give him the warning last night of "left or right" and he straightened up. Tonight, he is stayiing with daughter's bf while we completely clean out his room of ALL distractions. We are going to remove all toys, his computer, etc. and leave only his desk, his bed, and some of his clothes. When he gets home he is going to strip the wallpaper trim, patch the holes, sand them down and primer the walls. He is also going to rip out the carpeting and tear up all the tack strips. His door will be removed. His room will be like a shack. He will be on "room arrest" (thanks Momita!)

He will then be allowed to "earn" the right to paint one wall at a time. He will earn the right to put in new flooring, hang up a poster, a picture, a bulliten board. Maybe, just maybe, then he will learn to respect his room, his belongings and the rights and belongings of others in this house. Please pray for me to maintain this "tough love" and pray that my son finally sees the light. That is all I ask. Thanks guys!

No can do.....he's been having real back problems. Besides, the state law says he has to have a roof over his head, a bed to sleep in, clothes on his back and food in his tummy. We are giving him only what the state law says we have to give him, just so we don't lose him to the state. Too much crap with the CPS. Been there done that when I was a kid.

I'd leave the door on, but switch it around, make it lock from the outside, board up the windows and give him a bucket to piss in.....

Okay okay....this is a big step for me.....don't push me too far. LOL
Actually, I'm to the point with him that if I could do that, I probably would. Woulnd't be legal.....I do love my son, I just don't like him very much right now. :-(

Seriously though, you guys have been a big help just by listening and with 'some' of the suggestions. Prayer for those of you who believe is the biggest help you can give me. Thanks :)

I know....but I tied a knot and I'm hanging on to the end of my rope. If this fails, then I know that I've tried everything. Because I have. I don't want my MAD crew to become the MA crew.....

He wants a dog, he doesn't take of him....liking feeding him, watering him, giving him his meds (recently had surgery) He doesn't do his homework. He doesn't do his chores and when he does do all this stuff it's with very loud complaining. Which is normal, but frustrating on top of everything else. And this is a daily thing. Not one day goes by that he doesn't act out or start fights or just be a general pain in the butt.

He has: stabbed Jim's jeep tire with a screwdriver, cut up almost all the screens in the house, stolen money from all of us, stole from my neighbor on MOTHER'S DAY (that was a "wonderful day") has tried to start fires, has threatened to kill himself, tells us how much he hates his life because we make him do his hw, chores, etc. I could go on, but my posts are long enough as it is....

Yes, I expect my kid to be a part of his family by pulling his weight around here. We all suffer when he pulls his crap and we all have fun when he doesn't. I just want him to be a well-balanced individual who is a productive member of society and not someone who sucks the government for money and services and expects that the world owes him. not too high in my book. :)

LOL @ Bzob!

Oh how I long for the days when it was acceptable to lock kids under the stairs and beat them when they mouthed off. Nobody questioned your parental methods back in the day. Now, everybody is a social services employee. You're lucky if you can slap your kid now without being sent to court (if you're in California, don't even expect to make it that far IMHO).

I dunno what your kid did to warrant this kind of treatment MCM, but that's some harsh ****. I hope whatever he has done/is doing certainly warrants this reaction. And if so I just hope he can see the correlation between his actions and your reaction....

Send him to military school.

Nothing like Sgt. Hartman to straighten a little maggot out.

Yes it some harsh stuff. But like I said before, I am at the end of my rope and I tied a knot to hang on. His psychologist (spoke with him today) agrees that he will benefit from less stuff in his room. Fewer distractions to keep him from the task at hand of homework. He also liked the idea of him doing the work himself to hopefully have him take enough pride in taking care of his belongings and his room. I don't expect a perfectly kept room, but I would like to be able to walk into his room without getting hurt. I am going to take pictures of the before and after so you all can see....:) And I hope your last statement does come thru. Thanks for caring.
