View Full Version : A new season dawns on the NHL.
Lucko 09-18-2003, 11:18 PM Anyone pumped about the hockey season ?
My team is the habs, Ive got a hard road to follow this year. I can only hope Theodore makes a complete return to form.
How about the Leafs ? They made some great moves, picking up Owen Nolan could be just what Sundin needs to lead his team into the conference finals this year.
Curly Howard 09-18-2003, 11:20 PM YES!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait. I drove past the Blues practice rink yesterday and saw them going in. I'm so ready for this year. baron is back too!!!!!!
realkaps 09-18-2003, 11:20 PM I like the Sharks, for no reason really other than they are the only team I go see live. I also like the Leafs, because they have Tie Domi, and Hockeyfighter hates Tie Domi.....
Lucko 09-18-2003, 11:30 PM Hockey is a beautiful sport. It was actually the first and only sport I was into for years, alot of years. I remember the first game I saw was a NY Islanders playoff game in 1980, against Minnisota I think. Yeah they met in the finals that year.
Since Im such a long time fan Im kinda jaded by the new NHL. To me the new NHL is anything after the 1992-1993 season. That is the last great year, after that the trap came into play and started what we have now. Molasses hockey.
HockeyFighter 09-18-2003, 11:30 PM Domi blows and so do the Sharks. But I don't hate the Sharks...they just plain suck. The Hockey News is picking Ottawa to win it all this year.
Curly Howard 09-18-2003, 11:33 PM I haven't been keeping up on the trades or anything this summer
realkaps 09-18-2003, 11:34 PM Your Tattoo makes up for your lack of attention.......

Right. The Sens made some small changes and do look like a well rounded team. Who would have thought you could have a front line dominated by Europeans and still do well in the playoffs ? Not Don Cherry and not me.
Don't pay attention til playoff time. Go Preds, make the damn playoffs at least.
HockeyFighter 09-18-2003, 11:43 PM Look at Colorado's top 2 likes.
1. Tanguay - Forsberg - Hejduk
2. Kariya - Sakic - Selanne
No team in hockey history could match that.
But their goaltending is the question mark this year.
Curly Howard 09-18-2003, 11:44 PM plus there blue line is one of the best
HockeyFighter 09-18-2003, 11:47 PM I dunno about that. Blake, Morris, Foote..then no one really, Skoula is nothing special.

Only if your history starts in 88.
Take a look at these teams HockeyFighter...
Oliers 83-84,85-86,82-83 and 81-82.
Bruins 77-78.
Penguins 92-93.
They all had major offense to spare, I can guarantee that they won't put up numbers like these teams did.
Those first 2 lines are impressive though.
HockeyFighter 09-19-2003, 12:00 AM The 80's was a write off. Rule changes and player development ensure those days are long gone. I would put Colorado's top 6 against any top 6 in history.
realkaps 09-19-2003, 12:03 AM You guys have lost me now, back to MMA discussion.....
DragonZero 09-19-2003, 12:10 AM i hate hockey ..this is all
