View Full Version : Woodgate for England
col Blake 08-22-2008, 06:48 AM How the **** can he play for England after what he done, He unlike Barton needed a gang before he would start a fight, Woodgate was in a gang who kicked the **** out of an Asian student in a race hate attack, nobody says a thing, Everyone is calling for Barton to be kicked out of football, Woodgate gets rewarded for his sickening attack with an England cap, Barton gets 3 months. and there is very little chance Barton will ever play for England again (granted he is not good enough).
Should anyone with a criminal conviction be allowed to play for England?.
It was a little different. Woodgate wasn't even convicted.

Woodgate aint good enough either. He was utterly **** when he came on. Has poncy hair. Injury prone. I've never ever rated him, and I don't know how anyone can. He had a **** time at madrid, and will never be better than the likes of; Carragher, Ferdinand, Terry, Campbell, Brown/ any other half decent England centre half.

I agree, I can't see him being any more than a bench warmer for England.

Woodgate is a top CB
Woodgate played well at Real Madrid the media make this stupid assumption he was a flop because he came back he was'nt his injuries are why he came back i watched him play for Madrid he had one bad game when he first arrived but after that he got his fitness level up and he was regarded as Madrids best defender
i remember Arsenal going to the bernabeu to play Madrid and i can remember thinking Woodgate is gonna have Henry in his pockett here but he got injured early in the game and had to be replaced and i can remember thinking now i believe we can beat these because they are weak at the back without woody and Meija ,Ramos are **** at defending and what happended Henry teared right through the middle of the defence and strugged Ramos off to slot home to take us through
Woody is a top CB if i had a guarantee that he would stay fit for the majority of his career i would swap him for Gallas or Toure any day Gallas is a clown he might be a good RB but he is a **** CB

i like you mate, but this post is utter ****. A fit and ready woodgate is in fact one of our top centre backs. I would play him alongside ferdinand, and ledley king is the only guy who would challenge him for his place. He has great awareness, can play the ball well and reads the game fantastically.

:-(
Yeah but that;s hypothetical you know it's never going to happen.
As for his merits, fair enough but surely Rio does all of those, and much better. Must be something in that Yorkshire water. I'd rather have fire and ice, aka a meathead like Terry partnering someone with those attributes.
I still don't believe he was ever madrids best defender. I know madrid were hardly renounded for there water tight defence.
Ok done some research (Wikipedia.) ok 9 , YES THAT'S 9 appearances in 3 ****ing years!
"Real Madrid
Woodgate signed for Real Madrid in August 2004 for a transfer fee of £13.4 million.[2] This was to the surprise of many in the football world,[citation needed] due to his frequent absences through injury at his previous clubs, and indeed he was injured at the time of the transfer.
Woodgate did not make any appearances for Real Madrid in his first season in Spain, and also broke up with girlfriend Kate Lawler during the year, eventually making his debut on 22 September 2005, in a league match against Athletic Bilbao. The game went badly for him, as he scored an own goal and was later sent off for a second bookable offence; however, Woodgate was applauded and cheered from the pitch and was regarded for a period of his time at the club to be something of a cult-hero[3] He scored his first goal for Real Madrid in the 4-1 UEFA Champions League defeat of Rosenborg B.K. on 19 October 2005, his first appearance for the club in European competition.
By February 2006, Woodgate had established himself as a first-team player, with the other centre half position alongside him often rotating among the likes of Sergio Ramos, Iván Helguera, Francisco Pavon and Álvaro Mejía. One Spanish newspaper even described him as having "become Madrid's true leader".[4] However, further injury setbacks again stopped him playing. He was considered to have an outside chance of making the England squad for Germany 2006, but due to surgery on his back was not named in the squad.
In July 2007, Woodgate was voted the worst signing of the 21st century by readers of www.marca.com, the website for Spain's biggest selling sports daily, Diario Marca. The 27-year-old was the runaway winner polling 37.11 percent of the votes cast."
I'm pretty sure Walter Samuel occupied one of of the centre half slots at one time as well?

i agree whole heartedly Woodgate's greatest strength is his reading of the game and his positional sense he is better than Terry & Caragher at reading the game etc
Ferdinand is one of the very few that can match him for positional sense

Woodgate was convicted for the assault.
fasman 08-24-2008, 02:35 PM Woodgate even looks like a racist, he doesn't have to say a word and you know that he hates Non-Whites.....
Alexis Vastine 08-26-2008, 01:46 AM Most chavs are racist. It is ignorance.
