yeah right so you do 1000 pressups a day, with 30 sec rest between each 100? have to see it to believe it..
Other people do more with less rest, such as 4 sets of 250. It is's nothing special and I am not even the fastest at them in my gym. Once you train with pro's, you realise it is fairly standard for your fitness to at least do 500-800 per day. Calslappy does 4x3 minute rounds of ONE ARM press ups and gets about 250 in each round, so that puts the possibilities into perspective!!!
Also, when I came back into boxing I started with sets of ten and did about 50 altogether and was rather chuffed. Nobody can start off superfit! But trust me mate if you chip away at it every day and build it up slowly but surely, in a year you will find it easy and you too can be as fit as a pro.
d_lyrik803 08-20-2008, 09:37 PM 5 Days A Week :boxing:
Resistance Band Stretch: 5 mins
Stretching: Neck, Back, Chest, Arms, Shoulders, Legs... Pretty much the whole body.
Rope: Three 3 Min Rounds, last 30 seconds running in place or double under (depending which one you like). 1 min rest but have to do 25 push ups in that rest period.
Shadow: Three 3 Min Rounds, working combination, pivoting, counters..etc. 1 min rest.
Drills: Slipping, Blocking, Pivoting Drills, (ending with counter punches) Four 3 Min rounds. 1 min rest.
Heavy Bag: Four 3 Min Rounds, applying drills, and anything else learned prior to that day. 1 min rest.
Double End: Two 3 Min Rounds, 1 Min Rest.
Speed Bag: I personally dont focus too much on the speed bag but when i do I use it for two 3 min rounds. 1 min rest.
Calisthenics: Depending on which days, usually alternating we do lunges, burpees, coordination drills on one set of days, then on others we do planks with pushups ascending and descending in a ten count interval (the worse ab/chest work out ever), & other abdominals. Usually last about 20 mins.
Also depending on which days my trainer may throw in sprinting exercises, sprinting for a certain amount of meters, I'd say roughly 25m and stopping to do either pushups, jumping jacks, or burpees. Usually done on the road, away from the gym, the goal being getting back to the gym. Probably do around 200m in total. This is random, so i don't even know when we do this. (British trainers push us hard).
I personally end my training session with the sledgehammer/tire exercise to build power, or flipping a 5 foot diameter truck tire or just jump roping for 10 mins consecutively. My trainer doesn't make me do this, i just do it for my own benefit.
I usually spar on Fridays, probably around 5 rounds or more depending if I'm up for it or not. But I'm probably going to step my game up real soon and spar with some better boxers on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
And I trying to get into the routine of running everyday but I usually do it twice a week 3 miles. I need to step that up.
Thats my routine in a nutshell.

MR. V 08-21-2008, 01:27 AM being in school, being a father, and working full-time makes my work out pretty minimal. when i do have time I go pretty hard tho. but here goes, on a regular 5 day basis (mon-fri):
200 push-ups (mixed) ((diamond, long width , incline, decline)
100 crunches
100 squats (no weight)
64 dumbell lifts (50lbs each arm) ((8 reps 8 sets))
usually takes around 25-30mins. and gives a really good pump.

This is my weight training day, usually the friday since i don't train on saturdays. I do everything, Bench press, shoulders, back, biceps, triceps, legs, dead lift, squats, pecs, ect. I do low reps with heavy weights since i don't want to gain any more muscle.
I recently dropped the mma gym i was going to, so more more sparring or mit training. I decided to dedicate myself to boxing only. I'm going to start a new boxing gym in september.

That is why you are single. You should beg me for sex and give me more than 30 seconds. At least 45 of 50 seconds should do it. In 8 mile eminem, took 1 minute and 21 seconds plus he was in love.

Theres not many serious boxers at my gym to spar.
hmm, i go through cycles were i emphasize a specific skill. i look at all training as skill training.
i do various push ups every 2 days or so. usually do about 50 or more straight per type of push up. also include other forms of arm exercises usually.
i do over 100 situps every other day. including back exercise to balance routine.
i do short but low posture stance training in conjunction with squats and the like 3 times a week.
every day:
warm ups, coordination aligning, stepping, movement skills, stance(still) power training, more movements skills, warm down then stretch before sleep. it goes something like that. too many things to describe and hard to explain.

Danny Gunz 08-26-2008, 04:11 PM Personally I mix weight training in with the boxing and it hasnt affected me yet
Everyday i go in and do the boxing my trainer tells me but this schedule is just my weightlifting schedule and everyday i try to run at least 2 miles and do at least 150 decline sit ups
Monday - Chest, usually i start with flat bench press, then incline then decline bench press, dumbell presses, and flys or other dumbell exercises i usually change it up ( usually i do 4 sets of 12 unless im maxing out)
Tuesday - Backs, wide grip pull ups, close grip pull ups, and then the last two exercises i switch up alot... and in addition i always do a 6 round heavy bag workout on tuesdays
Wednesday - Shoulders, military bench press, military dumbell presses, shoulder raises, and lateral flys
thursday - Triceps, I do alot of different exercises for these so i wont list them all
Friday - Biceps, I do alot of curls for biceps, Regular bicep curls, preacher curls, dumbell curls, 21's, and some other ones i dont know the names of
Saturday - All abs and core workouts alot of exercises i dont feel like listing them
Along with all of this i take multivitamins, proteins, and other supplements like BCAA's, and creatine (it helps dont say it is hurting me more than helping cause thats a lie as long as you take it right)

eman-resu 08-26-2008, 07:49 PM I doubt it, looks like a standup fighter and I doubt it'd hurt to get hit by a 110lb old man and I think his technique would fall apart with 175lbs sprinting right at him
Stormin' Norman 08-26-2008, 08:01 PM that guy wouldn't hit you...

And u know why you see those videos of those masters apparently knocking their students over or out cold without touching them etc? its because the how respect system and concept of saving face works, the whole being humble thing in Asian ways of doing things. You dont question your master, imagine if you were the only student not playing the game and rolling over like the rest!
For these reasons alot of these old supposed masters have more respect for their fighting ability than they deserve.

that oldfrail man u speak of is ****ing respected by everyone! my teachers teacher goes about 240 lbs, and he respected him. more like that old frail guy would smash your teeth in before u could move. and i say this having experience with people one person removed from him. my system is very close to his. that old guy, chen pan ling, was supposedly an encyclopedia of fighting knowledge. he isn't known for just talking. back in the 1800's or early 1900's, u couldn't just talk about fighting and teach without being challenged and questioned on your abilities. a bit different than it is here in america right now.

first, how do u know who gets respect for what? MA has it's own politics.
without touching them? that is either hypnosis in some form or pure bull****.
you don't question your master? what did u train in may i ask? and what asians do u know to know the culture?

Meaning that in all honesty i think most traditional martial arts are bull****, meaning they are no good in a real fight. Fancy stances and chi can't help you agaisnt a hard punch to the face.
But then again the only traditional martial arts i ever practiced were tae kwon do and karate as a kid.
Rickson Gracie once said something that i think is very true.:
"You take a black belt, punch him in the face once and he becomes a brown belt, punch him again and is becomes a purple belt..."
Most traditional martial arts don't hold up in a real fight scenario unless the person you are fighting use the same style and rules as you.
I know you are going to take what i said as an insult but don't, prove me wrong instead, show me videos, links proofs.

Most traditional martial arts don't hold up in a real fight scenario unless the person you are fighting use the same style and rules as you.
I know you are going to take what i said as an insult but don't, prove me wrong instead, show me videos, links proofs.
yes, key word here - *most*
unfortunately u r right in that many chinese, japanese, and korean martial arts teachers in america especially have not ever fought anyone or don't spar realistically if at all.
but there are many out there thst do and are the genuine article. why don't u just take a look at my profile, read my blogs and such. time cartmell is one guy from a side of my lineage who,not only has fought in various avenues, but is well respected in both traditional and modern mma communities. he is an expert in xy and bgz, and has a black belt in BJJ. also, i believe trains an mma team.
his main teacher in traditional arts won at least 3 full contact national tournaments. and having played with him on numerous occasions, i will back him that he is the real deal. as real as it gets. he is an MA bro of my teach.
one guy i linked to has his official fight results on his website. but that does not tell even half the story. he is so well known there is a comic made based on him. he is another bro of my teach - meaning they trained from same teacher, roughly in same generation, or were literally classmates.
i have met and known many people who have the goods in various arts. do people here really think boxing is the only legit form of fighting or that other arts do not study punching? my main art studies it in depth.
now u said your only real experience came from karate and tae kwon do. that obviously clouds your perception. when u fight, u don't jump into a stance!!! that is one of the very first things i learned in CMA. anyone who teaches in such a rigid manner and tells u to fight like that has likely never fought. real teacher know difference between principal and technique or function and form. if u met me and i showed u some things u would not have same opinion. and i don't even mean fighting, but showng u the hows and whys. they are not taught very well because they are not always known.
blame the ****s that give a bad image to the art, not the art itself.
and no, i didn't diss u did i?
TheBlackSwifty 08-27-2008, 08:14 AM first, how do u know who gets respect for what? MA has it's own politics.
without touching them? that is either hypnosis in some form or pure bull****.
you don't question your master? what did u train in may i ask? and what asians do u know to know the culture?
Like that video you posted of that other dude taking on half assed attempts by students.
I havent trained in Martial arts, I had a Japanese girlfriend, worked and lived with Chinese restaurant owners, Chinese-Malaysian girlfriend, taught English in Asia, studied international business and the impact of culture on doing business.

yeah, but are u accepted?
anyways, point here is do not talk about what u do not know. that little dude would throw u around like a a 5 year old. maybe u need to go play with some people who train the traditional way. if u are so kind enough to tell me what city u live in, i may be able to find a reputable group or school that u can go to and ask any questions u like. including telling them their **** does not work or they do not fight.
sounds like u need a lesson to me.

Sounds like you need to actually do some boxing
Sounds like you need to actually do some boxing
really, yeah, cause us traditional guys don't box lol. grow up man. why try to argue on something u don't know? are u that bored?
btw who do u think has more credibility, me or u two combined? let's take a vote.
TheBlackSwifty 08-27-2008, 08:58 AM and that stuff about how Žthe little dude would throw me around like a 5 yr oldŽis just the stuff about mystical bull**** I was talking about in another thread. He might throw around one of his students like that (allowing him to Žsave faceŽ) but myself or any other boxer would fight, and fight hard and if the old dude wins he would have to work for it! But you cant say who would do what without knowing much about who your talking about (size, weight, experience, age etc) on a forum so I will leave it at that
It doesnt matter what training you have had, If someone knows how to hit and has got the the will they can do damage. Hell, a 10 year old girl can kill you in a pub fight if she cuts you in the right place with a broken glass. Nothing makes old masters like this guy invincible. If they were, you would see them get in the MMA or boxing ring and end fights quick, is this gonna happen? **** no.
