Looking to starting doing some jump rope work, and I was looking at some websites on jump ropes, noticing that there are weighted ones. What would be good for a beginner like me?

What would be good for a beginner like me? One that turns. It will take months for your skipping to develop anyway. Definatly don't get the ones with ball bearings in them. I got that as my first rope and it wouldn't work properly. sukhenkoy 08-18-2008, 06:03 AM I would start with a speed rope (non-weighted). After you get decent with this, you can move on to the weighted one as it really works your triceps. Landon S 08-18-2008, 01:10 PM Start with a light speed rope. As you improve you can start experimenting with different styles and weights. Personally I like some of the "crappy" ropes with a heavy cord, as it spins the weight pulls in all directions working your shoulders pretty good, but you cant get them spinning quite as fast. sweet*science 08-18-2008, 04:35 PM Don't go with leather, the twist and knot up, the cheap beaded ropes is good. You can get them for like 2 bucks if that. Nice and light easy to turn and develop your style and form with. |
