haha...this is going to flop as bad as Audley on the BBC. Only somebody who is stupid would pay ppv money to watch a prospect.

I like Khan, but this is just ridiculous.

Shame for Khan. He was getting good exposure on ITV but now that his fights will be on PPV, I can't see many people who will be willing to pay.

I certainly won't be unless he fights on the same card as Ricky Hatton or something.

jeez...going the same route as joke caser chavez jr.
man its good to see not all UK is riding on cheap trick khans tailwind!
when will he fight some one that is at least ranked closer to 100?
i feel that the crowd that follows joke jr. and khan may be related to the crowd that follows those circus act wrestling.
but theres money to be made here for them because of the general lackey boxing fans, the ones with the most money.

What the ****? I thought he signed a 5 fight deal with Setanta?!! That's what it said on their website!

I don't mind paying for Setanta, but I'm not paying £15 to watch ****ing Khan!

**** am I paying ppv for his fights, this **** is what's killing boxing. As a fighter he has gone no where yet it will pretty much kill his exposure and the people on his undercard.

The only people who will pay to see this tosh is his loyal fans. I live in the UK I didn't have to pay to see Zab vs Clottey or Cotto vs Margarito, I didn't have to pay to see Pacqiuao vs marquez and Diaz.

Thinking about it the only fight I had to pay for involved a British fighter, Mayweather vs Hatton.

Anyway I could go on for days, the fact of the matter is I see through the illusion the media has built on him and he is not worth ppv money.

Amir Khan hasn't even won the british title yet, never mind a world title. Hopefully he gets koed in his first fight so he just flops completely. I'm alright because all "superstar" (not like he is one but still..) will show on BFBS and I can watch the fight for free.

08-19-2008, 05:33 PM
this isn't going to sell at all.

warren has clearly moved him to ppv far too early...maybe he's trying to maximise his earnings in the few more fights he can get out of khan before he runs out of joke opponents and actually has to step up.

Nicky_Hatton
08-19-2008, 07:31 PM
Is a ****ing joke.

I thought Setanta were going in the right direction, and I thought Warren dealed with them.

Sky probably thought this stunt was the ideal retalliation to setanta kicking arse. No one wants to pay 15 quid to see Khan. He aint at that stage, and even if he was I wouldn't pay.

I thought great Khans moved on a step from itv, to sky, to box office (When he's world champ LOL WHEN I mean if)

Why tyhe **** did he skip sky sports 1, and he should have stayed on itv1 where he was pulling decent size viewers.

People are dumb enough to buy this ****. I'll still be tuning in to radio for the glroious moment when he gets knocked the **** out. Many people think Khan is still the real deal. Even boxers down at gym dub his as next Floyd and they actually think he is better than Naz who was world class at same age!!! Khan is another joke like Audrey and is nowt more than British class. He should have stayed in the Am's until 2012, he would have done well.

Ugh, this is such a joke, I really can't say anything that hasn't already been said/is known on the matter so I won't even bother!

Is there a way I can stream this for free online or catch it the next day or anything? I'd like to watch it [for the thrill that Khan might finally get KTFO and fade into oblivion] but certainly am not paying 15 quid ..

In England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland overall Khan is more known than Calzaghe.

Wow, hang on a second, you mean to say that Amir Khan, a professional boxer marketed en masse to the public, packing out stadiums and well into double digits for his fight total, is more popular than someone who won a medal in an amateur competition, in a country on the other side of the world?

Madness.

I think the only reason this fight is ppv is because arthur v cook is the main event, plus khan is fighting on the undercard. i don't reckon khans next few fights will be ppv, even warren must realise khans a long way from 15 quid.

No you dick

the hype surrounding the boy wonder Amir Khan was a lot greater after winning silver than Degale's is by winning gold.

Everyone saw a future world champion in Amir. Nobody sees a future world champion in Degale. Just saying.

Khan needed ITV with his fights free to watch he had a big casual following, but moving onto sky is the wrong move imo his popularity will drop of now as most casual fans don’t have sky sports let alone get a ppv, Look at Calzaghe he was a nobody to the general public but as soon as he got on ITV he started to become a big name this is completely the wrong move. We need Boxing on terrestrial TV, Hopefully Froch next fight will be on ITV.

That was the overreaction and hype because we didn't do so well in the olympics in terms of boxing when Khan won his medal. This year we took a strong team and we expected medals, so when we won one it wasn't as surprising as Khan's was.

Seriously though Khan PPV, I couldn't give that much of a **** about him when he was on ITV, no he's on box office, it'll save me wasting time watchin him, I can have a wank instead.

I'm not saying if you do well in amateurs you automatically do well in the pro ranks, but If Khan's so good why didn't he win gold then?

Authur-Cook isnt ppv material either though, aurthur hasnt fought for about 50 years and cook lost his last fight. This ppv card is beyond a joke, anyone who buys this deserves to have their money stolen by frank warren

BEFORE Khan went pro the hype surrounding him was a lot greater than Degale because people could recognise the talent in him (as opposed to james degale).

Also, Khan was 17 at the olympics. Degale is what, 22? Amir also managed to destroy Kindelan in an amateur rematch on ITV which pulled in the viewers.

Plus Amir is just a very entertaining boxer. Degale isn't.

Dont get mad because I said Amir Khan is more popular than Joe Calzaghe in the UK. The truth hurts. I'm a Calzaghe fan but lets face it when Amir wins a world title everybody will know about it. It won't take him 10 years of holding onto it to get recognised.

Fair, but also consider how many boxers went to the 2004 Olympics, and how many went this time around.

Being known and having a fanbase is a different story. I gurantee Amir can't sell out the wmbley stadium which calzaghe could do. Amir is just really over-hyped, so people who don't follow boxing read about him in the newspaper thinking hes a superstar when really he hasn't even won a british title yet.

A ppv event - What a liberty, £15 for what amounts to Khan in a learning fight and nothing more than a domestic match up between Arthur and Cook.
the undercard looks pretty decent though.

This is a good deal,Khan (hopefully) on box office. He obvioulsy got a signing on fee but this time he has to deliver. He cant keep fooling the public. If he brings bums to fight the public wont buy (hoping the public are rational ).

There is a good incentive.6 fights is like 2 yrs.His popularity will be reflected by the sales. If the sales are low Amir will push Warren to stop bringing bums

Alexis Vastine
08-30-2008, 10:15 AM
fighting bums has given him false confidence that he is a puncher and he's developed a style that will get him in trouble! he is going in and out throwing flurries like pacman when really he should be standing back and trying to become a boxer not a puncher. Preferrably a very fleet footed counter puncher to protect his glass chin. His style, his bull**** opponents and his bull**** trainers/managers/promoters are going to get him sparked out sooner than he should have!

box2box
08-30-2008, 06:36 PM
the worst thing about this is that he was starting to get a very good audience on itv and getting people to watch boxing.

now he's going to lose them by going to sky and lose even real boxing fans like myself and others who have posted who are not going to pay £15 for a ****ing commonwealth title fight.
