View Full Version : oranges
Stormin' Norman 08-13-2008, 05:22 PM This fruit actually has scientific benefits. The smell of the citrus when you peel an orange is supposed to wake you up more than sipping a cup of coffee in the morning...I swear to god it boosts you in the middle of the day, they are great.....I know this fruit has alot of sugar in it. but they are so good in the middle of the day, my lunch consists of 1 orange but I'm trying to cut alot of weight right now. 1 orange, if you haven't eaten anything but a banana for breakfast, tasted better than any meal you'll ever sit down and eat at any fast food ****box, even when you're driving while you're eating (Supposed to reduce enjoyment of food.)
serious, try out the oranges......tangerines....i didn't favor them at first but once acquired to the fresh juice in them it is extremely addictive in the middle of the day.
sukhenkoy 08-13-2008, 05:51 PM Any fruits are better than the **** you'll get at fastfood restaurants. End of.
mkm88414 08-13-2008, 06:11 PM you're a big guy, dont you think you need more to eat than a banana for breakfast and an orange for lunch?
youre looking at like 300 cals for half the day...

how much do you weigh, if you are under 160 you really wouldn't understand what you gotta do to lose weight fast, when you're 275 lbs.
Danny Gunz 08-13-2008, 06:16 PM how much do you weigh, if you are under 160 you really wouldn't understand what you gotta do to lose weight fast, when you're 275 lbs.
If you are only eating that much then your body is gonna start eating away from your muscles not fat.
I know you are trying to lose weight to get healthier but doing it that way will just kill all your stamina, strength, and your speed can drop significantly if you just starve yourself to lose weight.
I have seen it happen to boxers, wrestler, mixed martial artists, and football players. but do whatever you want to lose weight
mkm88414 08-13-2008, 06:28 PM wellp, im 164.4 so i guess i do know what it takes to lose weight fast haha
not to mention i used to wrestle...
im just sayin seems like not nearly enough cals to keep your metabolism goin. and theres always a trade off in cutting weight between the speed u cut and performance. the faster u cut large amounts of weight the worse ur performance gets. i guess thats just my opinion and others could and probably will disagree.
i cant imagine ur very happy right now on that kinda diet...
but do whatever you feel it takes, i wasnt trying to rain on your parade.
mkm88414 08-13-2008, 06:30 PM i almost forgot what the thread was about though
i eat an orange WITH my lunch everyday

Don't eat it next time. Just smell the juices ;)

it sure does....
Darkstranger 08-14-2008, 05:04 AM Your a big guy, you need to be eating a lot more than a banana for breakfast and 1 orange for lunch. The way you're eating at the moment is just slowing down your metabolic rate and your body's going to go into starvation mode. It will also start eating away at your muscle mass so even if you start dropping weight your physique will pretty much look the same. You need to try and eat regularly throughout the day to get your metabolism going, and try and consume protein with each meal. This will help you to burn fat rather than just dropping water weight. I was 252lbs when I first started boxing last year and I'm now floating around 230lbs and holding onto my muscle mass. You're in the Super Heavyweight class and like me you probably don't have the option of being anything but a Super Heavyweight, so you don't have to worry about making weight or drastically having to drop weight quickly. You just need to knuckle down, get yourself fit and drop your bodyfat percentage whilst trying to hold onto your muscle mass. Aim to improve your athleticism rather than just thinking "I need to drop weight fast".

Actually, the bigger you are, the more weight you can lose. Fast. The bigger you are, the more energy you burn, just by being, so the more you can eat, and the less you have to do to burn a lot of calories. Especially when you're fat. Try being 160, at 7%BF, then come back and tell us it's hard to lose weight being 275lbs, 30%Bf,

haha, believe me, I know this. when I started back in may of 06 and took it seriously I went from 320 to 255 within a 6 month period. it came off like butter, but I guess the way the post that you replied to gave the assumption that I thought a thin guy lost fat easier or something......but good lookin out.

thanks for the input, good words.
as for having the option of being anything but 201+ lbs, there are other options. I mean, the money is at heavyweight, but if a person really wanted to, with a proper mindset a guy like you or myself could probably get down to 180-185, kill themself before fight time and make 175. but, like I said, heavyweight is where the money and respect is in boxing...little guys hate to hear it but it's true.
danny stash 08-15-2008, 10:42 AM Is their something wrong with you? I mean you posts are so out of left field man. Who the **** eats an orange for lunch and thinks its a healthy lunch? You need to speak to a nutritionist or someone who knows something about something.

what he said....
lgreen 08-15-2008, 12:01 PM hello all,
Well, indeed the scent of oranges is good for us and is used in many food dishes too. Some of its properties are: Love, Prosperity, Divination, Luck and for healing-----Relaxing, Balancing, Stimulating, Sensual.
So there you are, and please do eat more than an orange for lunch----how about a light protein shake? If you don't use milk, it can be low calorie----no bananas either as they are high in sugars.
mkm88414 08-15-2008, 12:20 PM like I said, heavyweight is where the money and respect is in boxing...little guys hate to hear it but it's true.

At least norman posted a video of himself sparring and hitting the bag - I'll give him credit for that.
Until you do the same, don't piss on him (especially with the video you posted a while back).

I made top amateurs around here stop comin around the gym to spar me, I'm responsible for my gym basically leaving because I was there, except the coach. I am the reason a 2005 southern association heavyweight champion basically quit boxing. Maybe he thought because he always got his ass kicked sparring a whiteguy who never had a fight that he'd never make it, and that's what made him quit. Oh well, that's behind me. The truth and fact is, that I got his blood on my boxing shoes. This mother****er competed in the olympics I got the blood of an olympian on my boxing shoes, I consider that a ****ing accomplishment. I didn't get a sanctioned bout because of my hand injury and stuck around the gym for about a year just sparring whoever'd come in. But you can go **** your mother, who's cunt smells something like...carpet cleaner...... Spouting this bull**** talking about who's gonna make it and who's not, this weightlifting vid my bud Sukhoy is telling me about already has me in stitches, you ****ing punk.....
But the fact still stands...If I never had a fight, and am sending guys home who have had over 40 total and only lost 7 of those, it means something to me...it means that if I take it seriously I could clean out this punk ass amateur louisiana division, except for that one guy at the top Quantis Graves, he's a bad mother****er. But that's what training and sacrifice is good for, it's good that I fear Quantis

hey man, ive been meaning to talk to you about that oatmeal and honey you recommended...ive been eating that daily for almost a week now and i look forward to it more than any breakfast ever, I'd rather that over eggs and bacon anyday...it sticks to the stomach and just feels very fulfilling until lunchtime, I try not to use a bunch of honey though, just a little bit and I add milk to mine......

Yeah. That's exactly what I use. I use about three tablespoons of 100% oats (no artificial ingredients, just 100% oats), a half cup of 2% milk, and 1 tablespoon honey. You're right in that you don't need a lot of honey because 1) honey contains a lot of sugar, albeit it natural sugar; and 2) it tastes great even with a small hint of honey.
Ever since I started eating this in the morning I've been feeling a lot more energized throughout the day.
Lenny McLean 08-19-2008, 07:39 PM The sugar in fruit is natural fructose and good for you unlike white sugar. Don't confuse the two! Natural foods are always better. I start day with Tropicana and some fruit. Tangerines are not oranges but from the orange citrus family. I also enjoy clementines and satsumas. Graze on fruit like these through day and you will see the fat blowtorch off your body. Load up on them in morning. A majority fruit diet has many other benefits. Become a green machine and have 70%fruit, veg and salad and 30% quality natural source protein such as fish. This is the recipe for success. The Gracies forged a career on it, and five time World Cup winners Brazil followed a similar diet back in days before their players went to big European clubs to be corrupted with white pasta eating obese dieticians.

Obviously fructose is much better than refined white sugar - I know that. That's why I haven't eaten white sugar in over 6 months. Nonetheless though, if you eat a ton of fruit a day and don't exercise, that fructose will still slowly turn into fat because it is excess calories that aren't being used for physical exercise.
As a matter of fact, if you say natural sugar is better - which it is - why do you start your day with Tropicana. That **** is filled with white sugar ;)

Tropicana is pure unconcentrated orange juice. There is no added white sugar in UK version anyway. Maybe they put it in for fat americans.
Who said anything about no exercise? This is a training forum. Fruit will boost your stamina and give you EXTRA energy so you can do intense exercise. You will feel good. Any diet is a "calorie cutting diet" champ, the only way you can lose weight is by consuming less calories than you burn. Also protein is vitally important post workout, along with carbs for the best possible recovery. But like everything moderation is the key. Eating a **** load of fruit every day will do just that, give you the ****s, you'll be on the toilet most of the day. A wide range of healthy foods and a relative knowledge of the amount of calories you require each day should be common knowledge for a boxer. However you get these stupid fad diets popping up which can kill you (atkins) and you wonder why no one can lose weight. PS having a sport science degree is pretty pointless unless you actually read up constantly on journals. Otherwise you have the blind leading the blind like someone said before me. Hell people are there are still teaching that the burn after a workout is caused by lactic acid, those people should not teach anything.
