However, I guess I'll just say the following three for the sake of discussion: 1. Roy Jones Jr. 2. Floyd Mayweather Jr. 3. Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson Rockin' 03-25-2005, 04:04 AM Hilmer Kenty- I never got to see many of Hilmers fights but if the question is who is your favorite fighter it would be him. This man is a first class person in and out of the ring. If you ever meet him you will know exactly what I mean. Harry Greb- With no decision contests as well as bouts that went on the record Greb fought 299 times. Fought to many hall of famers to list. The guy, from everything that I have read was a merciless and fearless fighter. Fought for 5 years half blind with a detached retina going to war with Gene Tunney, Mickey Walker and Maxie Rosenbloom to name a few. Stanley Ketchel- Guy starts out fighting as a middleweight, with no formal training and wins the middleweight title. Defends against hall of famer Philadelhia Jack O'Brien twice and then moves up to heavyweight to fight Jack Johnson. That man had some huge cahones. And then on top of that fights Sam Langford and gets a newspaper win in 6. Those are 2 of the best heavyweights of the time. This list can very simply by what mood Im in but I have alwways liked these guys...............Rockin' John2226us 03-25-2005, 02:09 PM 1. Rocky Marciano 2. Sonny Liston 3. EXIGE 08-08-2005, 05:20 PM i dont wanna start racial tension, but why do boxers turn to islam?? Oh yeah i just realised that they all turned to one religion or another didnt they. I dont tihnk it is the religion in itself its just that those individual fighters chose to go with that religion. Dont ask why? Good observation there though. BAREKNUCKLES 08-08-2005, 11:51 PM Harry Grebb Sugar Ray Robinson Muhammad Ali in no particular order. Thoth 08-09-2005, 06:19 AM 1. Barrera and Morales are forever linked for me because up until their first fight I never really cared for boxing. 2. Jack Dempsey, i've probably seen that clip of him beating on Jess Willard more than any other piece of film. It's pretty amazing. 3. Roberto Duran is probably my favorite fighter from boxing history. He's very exciting to watch and his screw you personality has it's own charm. TheBrownBomber22 08-09-2005, 09:11 AM Sugar Ray Leonard, Floyd Mayweather and Erik Morales Kidgarfield 08-09-2005, 12:38 PM Matthew Saad Muhammad Marvin Hagler Salvador Sanchez. 3 most exciting would be Saad, Gatti and Basilio. whatdahieu 08-12-2005, 02:35 AM from past that inroduced me to boxing 1. tyson, who else could garner so much media attention other than ali 2. duran, damn to watch this man fight was beautiful... no i'm no ***.. and if you study the way duran fought and frazier fought they kind of fought the same..... i guess duran just copied 3. frazier, i don't care ali and foreman beat him, they're all time greats too, he was magical now that i watch and whos currently fighting 1. mayorga, letting ppl hit you in the face, drinking beer, smoking.. hes the working mans champ 2. gatti, was the working mans champ until he hired buddy mcgirt.. let the brawler brawl and the boxer box.. you gotta tell me he'd do better with freddie roach, man i wish ray arcel was around.. 3. pac-man, even though hes only got the straigh left he's still exciting even when hes not punching just like aganist marquez he took some rounds off and still looked exciting... don't know why i wish ward was fighting but he was only really exciting when he fought either gatti of club fighters cause when he fought vince phillips and zab judah he was hopelessly outclassed, game as hell though Tha Greatest 08-12-2005, 05:26 AM Thomas Hearns Sugar Ray Robinson Joe Louis These are all my idols because all from Detroit and want my name to be there in the future... but my 3 favorites to watch... I CAN'T PUT JUST 3:( oldschoolboxingfan 08-14-2005, 01:35 AM i dont wanna start racial tension, but why do boxers turn to islam?? Start racial tenions? How could you do this in here? That is like saying there is racisim towards blacks in the NBA when 90% of the players are black, but there is not racisim but have a white NBA and all the race hustlers would come out of the woodwork like Fat Al Sharpton. Look at how many pick Rocky who was the only heavyweight that retire undefeated and beat every black and white he took on.
