View Full Version : What are your opinions on Joe Budden?
Floyd Sinclair 08-08-2008, 05:57 PM Im familiar with his music but i dont know his discography like i know Nas', jays, biggies, pacs, or even the games. All i know is that when it comes to diss songs hes one of the best, hes got versatility, and hes consistent going by the material i have heard. Who is the song of 2008...i cant name many rappers capable of making a song like that.
Some consider him a legend...some consider him the best out right now. What do ya'll think?
THe TRiNiTY 08-08-2008, 06:03 PM One of the most slept on artists, by both the underground and mainstream. He can make happy/club songs, so the underground cats overlook him. Then he comes out with mood music and the mainstream overlooks him. Sad, because he's ATLEAST 10 ten right now.
CaRnAgEViOLaToR 08-08-2008, 06:04 PM heres my take on joe:
hes a aboslute beast on the mic and right now he is top 5 imo. check out his tracks "in the air", "broken wings", "long way to go", "walk with me", "all of me" and "are you in the mood yet"..or just check out mood muzik 2 and 3. great stuff. he is what the game needs right now
Truth 08-08-2008, 06:43 PM Jay-Z is my favorite rapper of all time but I liked Budden's diss....it was a grown man diss. Budden dissed him but he did it in a respectful way, if that makes sense. He even said he doesn't hate Jay-Z but he just had some things he wanted to say. I think he said that...
Truth 08-08-2008, 06:47 PM Joe Budden can straight up rap. I'm checking his next album...
Floyd Sinclair 08-08-2008, 07:22 PM Half of boxden.com thinks hes a legend...and i remember him gettin alotta support on sohh. It always suprised me because i thought he was nice on the level of lloyd banks or the game but i realize now hes in a different class.
He came at g-unit real hard

Kobe Bryant 08-08-2008, 07:35 PM He's nice but he doesn't have a discography. Unless you are counting mixtapes. It's really sad that artists can't even release an album. Forget about flopping they can't even drop albums. It's really crazy. He can spit and has a crossover style with a lot of wit. He's nice on the mic for sure. But his first album was ehhh and his mixtapes are really good.
Floyd Sinclair 08-08-2008, 07:35 PM this mixtape is real nice...this was when i realized that i counted joe budden out too quick after hearing one of the disses from the game.

It shouldn't be I thought he just released the same material but under an independent record label. It should be the same. But they took off the yelling background of the DJ. And some of the songs that were cut off early on the mixtape are in their entirety on the album.
sisforshaq 08-09-2008, 12:02 AM Dope MC, couldn't materialize on his debut album. Ill stick to his mixtape music and enjoy it. Well check out his 2nd album "The Growth" if it ever drops.

DIOS DOMINICANO 08-09-2008, 12:01 PM If you were dropped from outer space, and you didn't know who the "superstar" was, and somebody played this for you, who would you say is the better rapper?

Im not the one to compare jay-z and joe budden...I've been listening to jigga probably for almost 10 years. Budden had the better verse on that song but how old was he in 1996 when jay-z dropped reasonable doubt, a classic album? Ill give budden this...from what i have heard of his music hes more consistent with his lyrics. But the big difference here is i know jay-z is a legend...he has one of the most consistent discographys of any rapper dead or alive. Budden has one album and several mixtapes. I understand the way the game works now its more beneficial for rappers to release mixtapes instead of albums but im really not the one to be comparing the 2.
The most respectable opinion would come from someone who has put hours...days into listening to both of them.

Which is why I say 'pretend that you were dropped from outer space'. I do NOT want you to consider the context of Jay's entire career.
There are a host of reasons why someone gets hit records. Jay had the benefit of Premier and kanye and whoever.
I love Jay. Don't get me wrong. But Budden is genuinely nice.
"This ain't a movie, but Meet Joe Black"
'I'm not from around these parts..Stojakovic"
Dope MC, cant make an album for ish.
