View Full Version : Heath Herring vs Brock Lesnar
number6 08-04-2008, 05:41 PM Whats everyones pick for this fight?
I think its another dangerous fight for Brock due to Heaths experience at top level. His standup is looking improved aswell.
I still lean towards Lesnar to take him down and get a ref stoppage due to GnP.
Any thoughts.
Kakutogi-Gumi 08-04-2008, 07:43 PM Watch out Heath. Another wrestling match!!
zubi29 08-04-2008, 10:40 PM I think this could be a good fight Ive seen Herring fight nog and kongo and he looked great in them two fights although he let nog of the hook but i havtn seen any other of his fights...on the other hand i only seen lesnar one time and he is still inexperienced in this fight game but his wrestling could do wonders for him in this fight.. i think the safe bet is herring because he is to evolved and his skills are more polished
KESSLER 08-05-2008, 12:01 AM I am gonna go with Lesnar by submission.
Mr. Beelzebub 08-05-2008, 12:08 PM This can be very similar to Heath's fight against Tom Erikson (Erikson is a far better wrestler than Lesnar). But I don't think Heath is gonna be able to weather the G'n P and take Brock out on his feet... Heath seems slower and with worse cardio than in his Pride days.
Brock Lesnar by Lay and Pray decision... Yawn.
MJ406 08-05-2008, 01:40 PM yeah Brock might just be way too strong for Heath.
Harms 08-06-2008, 12:13 PM I'm not sold on Lesnar. I'm going Heath.
th4l3pr3ch4un 08-06-2008, 03:11 PM Brock is more of an athlete then heath is... i dont think theres any question about that physically brock is the bigger, stronger, faster man... he has great take downs, and his ground work is outstanding. I even think he has some striking in the arsenal, he landed a couple shots standing vs mir, ( his ground and pound needed improvement, but he was moving very well down there). The only thing heath really has on brock is experience. (which is obviously a very big advantage to have) I am expecting big things from both of these guys.
Kakutogi-Gumi 08-07-2008, 01:59 AM Also keep in mind Heath has problems with accomplished grapplers.
RMAcero 08-07-2008, 08:02 PM Brock by brute strength TKO in the 1st round. This is Lesnar's last chance to show Dana White why he can cut it in the UFC and he's not gonna pass it up.
Palma 08-09-2008, 03:33 AM Heath by KO in the 1st round!!
Dorian 08-09-2008, 04:27 AM Lesnar by 1st round ko, i think with Heath willing to stand he will get caught early
Don Corleone 08-09-2008, 12:08 PM This wil be totally Herring. I see it a 2nd or 3rd round TKO. Anyone want to bet 20K for this one...

confirmed...
Dorian 08-09-2008, 01:34 PM confirmed...
alright, good luck!
th4l3pr3ch4un 08-09-2008, 03:40 PM can a broke ass dude like myself get 3k on lesnar?
Blair_Wells#32 08-09-2008, 04:47 PM i've got brock winnning either by early ground and pound, or unanimous decision. Herring couldn't even handle obriens take downs an brocks alot stronger than he was.
vinnie7731 08-09-2008, 07:33 PM to me heath herring looks in the best shape he's ever been in. should be a good fight. i think experience over strength wins in this fight, but you never know.
MJ406 08-09-2008, 08:07 PM yeah this is a very good match up, as Brock's a very strong but raw having only been training for MMA a year
where Heath is the much more experienced of the 2.
looking forward to this.
*love or hate Brock but he's been matched very tough for his first 2 UFC bouts.
Very boring fight, lesner still has a long way to go.
TheGreatA 08-10-2008, 12:06 AM Most boring trash I've witnessed in a long time.

I actually thought it was a decent fight.
ElGranLuchador 08-10-2008, 01:00 AM i found this entertaining
brock was very dominant but couldnt capitalize, he threw some brutal knees
brock has a lot of potential
ImAhUstlEBS 08-10-2008, 02:31 AM Brock has the most potential in MMA right now, he's like a smaller badder Bob Sapp but with some skills and a physical deamnor that if twiked could bring him alot of money and fame in the UFC! He's gonna turn the UFC out, did you catch him after the fight, with that charisma and stage presence, his gonna bring that WWE to MMA in a exceptable fashion1

He should of gave him the F5. He would of been home early.
Palma 08-10-2008, 03:21 AM I guess I picked wrong!
th4l3pr3ch4un 08-10-2008, 03:45 AM i thought this was a very solid heavyweight fight... brock showed his dominance... the man has only fought 2 MMA fights prior to this one, can you blame him for playing it safe againsta a VERY Solid veteran, herring has won against guys on the caliber of check kongo.. that says enough right there. Brock does have some learing to do, but if he can continue training the way he has been the world is in the palm of his hands!
KESSLER 08-10-2008, 04:29 AM It looked to me like Lesnar didn't want to finish him off. He had a few openings to lock him in submissions. But Lesnar just beat his ass instead.

Did he go for the F5 at any point?
Blair_Wells#32 08-10-2008, 04:44 AM Boring...what the *F* kinda fight were u guys watching.... he controlled the pace an he ground game, i found the fight exciting, he controlled position from beginning 2 end..
i'm not one 2 judge but are u guys the types who like the brain dead brawling???
Brock showed alot of growth 2nite in his fight, he showed patience when he had position and when he was danger of subs he pulled out.
Brock showed growth 2nite, an i'll say it right now, if Brock and Couture fought Brock would win on his over all dominance alone.
if u think this was boring 2nite u all should just wait for Kimbo Slices Brain Dead style fixed fighting.
ElGranLuchador 08-10-2008, 04:59 AM Did he go for the F5 at any point?
no but he tried a shooting star press
he phailed big time

C'mon bro, you can't seriously compare Couture to Lesnar just because Lesnar won this fight. Sure I got to give it to him, because he almost got a win over Mir if it wasn't for his in-experience and he beat Herring, who is a top HW in the UFC, but I don't see how he would be compared to Couture.
Stylisticly, Couture would beat Lesnar, and has way more experience and skill. Couture is also good with bigger fighters and Sylvia and Gonzaga proves it. But Lesnar's weight would be the only factor towards him even winning if he fought over a much smaller Couture.
Lesnar is still maturing and still has limited experience in MMA, but he chooses to fight the top guys and I gave him respect for that, but again, if you compare their styles and on paper, Couture has the better edge over Lesnar, but Lesnar's size would probably be his only factor on beating the much more skillfull and smaller Couture.

I thought it was boring because Lesnar made zero effort to actually finish the fight aside from the first punch he threw. Only enough so it wouldn't be stood back up.
He laid on top of a crappy wrestler for 3 rounds. Good for Brock that he took advantage of Herring's obvious weaknesses but it was not exactly a spectacular performance.
The other two main fights of the night were good.
Blair_Wells#32 08-11-2008, 04:48 AM laid on top??? did u see how lesnar was riding him an pounding him all 3 rounds?
did u no see herrngs face???
how did he lay on him all rounds like orbrien. brock completly messed up herrng.
and yes i believe that brock would beat couture right now, both wrestlers an brock would ride him 2 if it went 2 the ground, randy's a good strategist an i think he would go against fedor well but with brocks raw aggression couture wouldn't have an answer.
it would b wrestler against wrestler an brocks better.
brock would mess up randy on the ground.
gandhalf 08-11-2008, 08:22 AM Fedor would submit Lesnar in the 1rst easy. He's like a bigger version of Sherk. He's an amazing wrestling though. And he's got a lot of strength for sure but it's not ncaa competition. It's still mma. That's why smaller opponents can beat him.
phallus 08-11-2008, 10:36 PM lesnar looked good but still pretty raw, he did " donkey kong on herring's head" but i don't see him doing that to bog nog or randy. fedor would submit lesnar quick. he needs a few more fights. i think dana should put brock in with kongo next time

Im not sure about Couture beating Lesnar, experience and record wise this is a mismatch. But the only guys i see taking Lesnar out are men with fantastic sub game's or brutal standup.
Randy is a warrior who has done it all but he doesnt fall into either catagory.
Sharpharp 08-12-2008, 01:29 PM Lesnar didn't have a clue what to do, he just layed and prayed for most of the match. Plus for Lesnar to come out with ****y comments like i rode the stallion blah blah after only 3 fights, i hope he gets knocked out good n proper in his next one.
