View Full Version : Addicted to fast foods, fizzy drinks, beer and sweets?
Oriachim 08-04-2008, 01:24 PM Anyone else got this problem? Or anyone HAD this problem but was able to solve it?
I got a fight in febuary but i'm not trying as hard as I should and everyone is getting annoyed at me for constantly eating mcdonalds after training for 3 hours hard work. I got a very fast metalobism so I haven't got a problem with weight, but I'm so addicted to all this stuff, its crazy.
dfwtx 08-04-2008, 01:52 PM No I do not have a problem with this simply because none of these are addictive substances. You probably don't want to hear the phrase "man up" in regards to your question but that's actually not bad here.
fraidycat 08-04-2008, 02:07 PM Just quit eating it.
Seriously.
On the run and need to eat? Eat teriyaki or pho. Switch to unsweetened tea instead of Coke.
Otherwise, eat lean meat, raw fruit, wild rice, and steamed vegetables. The WAY you feel after a week of eating clean food will make you never want to eat fast food again. I swear by it. Within a month you'll be finishing your workout and craving a slab of grilled salmon and a bowl of frozen berries instead of a Big Mac and a Coke.
I've been off sugar for two years, now. Coke and even sugar in my coffee makes my head hurt immediately. And that greasy feeling that's left in your mouth after eating fast food? ****ing gross. All that fat coating your tongue. Blecch.
sugarshanenas 08-04-2008, 02:59 PM ehh everyonce in awhile i'll have a coke but not much
sukhenkoy 08-04-2008, 03:28 PM the easiest part of this sport is, and quite rightfully should be, the diet. If you can't say no to ronald mcdonald, I honestly don't know what to tell you. Just stop eating that **** for a week, and see how you feel. Guarantee you'll feel loads better.
KostyaTszyu44 08-04-2008, 07:35 PM i eat junk once a week or maybe once a fortnight if im disciplined enough, oh and i dont drink coke, maybe a coke zero/ diet coke once and a while but regular coke, no way that **** is so bad for ya
but if i have a bout coming up in the next 3-4 weeks i dont eat it at all, not because i have problems with weight but because it just makes me feel sluggish and i train more efficently without it in my system
Oriachim 08-04-2008, 07:54 PM Reminds me... Bruce Lee once said "Junk food makes your fighting style more sloppy and sluggish". Another reason I wanna give it up.

Easy part? Not if you do it properly.
Maybe you have a fast metabolism but I guarantee you that eventually it will get to your ass. I seen it happen so many times. People hwo can;t diet or eat some healthy foods are always BUMS.
Chayal Boded. 08-05-2008, 01:13 AM just don't carry money with you when you go to the gym and there won't be an option
Fernando Torres 08-05-2008, 01:34 AM I only take my keys and phone anyway because emptying out your jeans to carry all that **** is dumb! Shouldn't be a problem having dough with you. People need to stop being weak minded and if they have goals, the changes will be EASY. I enjoy and have always liked fruits and find them tasty. There are many tasty and healthy foods. Only BUMS will find it hard to cut back on junk and have more fruit. Like your mama said, all you need to do is have your greens!
the_painless 08-05-2008, 05:29 AM Hey if you are having so much trouble with all of it why don't you just try to gradually decrease the crap you are eating by substituting it with good things rather than just trying to cut all junk food out in one go? Or start by decreasing the quantity of crap you eat and drink e.g instead of drinking 5 fizzy drinks one week aim for 3 the next week- instead of drinking full strength beer substitute it for light. Eat something healthy instead of a sweet. Gradually change to the point where you can elimate the whole lot. I have heard of far too many ppl with ****ty eating habits who try try to cut out all the bad foods straight away and only eat healthy stuff only to find a month later they are back to where they started and in some cases in a worse state- they set themselves up for failure by being too harsh and unrealistic from the start. It is harder for some than others!

I've been on a purely paleolithic diet for over half a year now. Feel great. No urges to eat the food I used to a year ago.
I guess when I compare what it takes to diet to the pain I have to go through with the physicality of the sport, I can stay on track.
Not really a matter of metabolism for me, just I grew so used to food without sugar, added salt, candy, sodas/juices that going BACK to it would take getting used to. I don't see the point in going back when I enjoy the food I'm eating now.
Gato2012 08-05-2008, 12:33 PM fighting in February? Thats like 6 months from now. wtf?
Stormin' Norman 08-05-2008, 12:54 PM beer is worse for you than mcdonalds but mcdonalds is pretty close to beer in terms of healthiness.
beer or alcohol in general inhibits protein synthesis, a process your muscles undergo to rebuild and strengthen. So people who get sore, then go get ****ed up on beer, are getting stronger, just not as strong as they'd be if they wouldnt've drank.
everything mcdonalds has, is unhealthy, except for 'side salad' and even that is gonna come with a fat free, but not sugar free, dressing...your best bet is to just do what i do,
Right now I weigh 285 lbs. my goal is 225. I am now at 270, and follow this very easy diet.
Morning, banana. Lunch, orange. Dinner, something that doesn't have grease, contains some kind of vegetable, and isn't ground meat.
An orange for lunch is the win because the citrus smell from peeling it will give you a refreshing burst of energy. No **** it's scientifically proven that the smell of an orange being peeled gives you a rush of energy moreso than the onset caffeine effects from your average cup of coffee....True ****!
yea, and don't eat anything after 8:30 pm, and make sure you exercise after your last meal of the day, and if youre fat like me, the weight will come off like butter...
alza1988 08-05-2008, 01:11 PM Keep track of what you eat, make a chart, have one cheat day a week and on that day eat what you want,,thats worked for me before,I managed to cut out nearly all junk food and get good abs definition.
Oriachim 08-05-2008, 04:30 PM hmm i'm not outta shape or anything in terms of appearence but i admit my fitness is nowhere near its peak...

how the **** does a 285lb man get through lunch only having eaten a banana and an orange, then not eating at all after 8:30?

a banana for breakfast and an orange for lunch.....how would you get through the day?? it would be impossible to train and you are 285 lbs your body needs more than that
you must eat a **** load of food at dinner and that isnt good...you are very very dumb

Its basically eating all natural foods. No artifical **** at all.
I never really knew about it myself, and just ate natural foods, but then Rafael Benitez posted a link to the paleolithic diet on wikipedia, and I found out that I follow that diet pretty well.
Essentially, I only eat fruit/honey if I want something sweet. I don't add salt to any of my food. Nuts and dairy for fat. The food that I buy I check to see that it doesn't have any preservatives or added chemicals.
Type "paleolithic diet" into wikipedia and read up on it.

Feed her a lot of pineapple beforehand though.
Coeco 08-10-2008, 01:00 AM I have a good trick for quitting the "sugar" kind of crap food, like cola. All you need to do is to eat ****loads of Salmiak (A brown ball candy with very sour/swet powder inside that makes other sugar product takes like ****) I ate maybe 20-40 and after that cola tastes like slimy water. As for mcdonalds, I try to watch this once in a while.

Yes, that is so true. I have had a problem with gluttony most of my life, which surprises most people who know me as I do not put on weight. Just because a man is slim it doesn't make gluttony right nor any healthier. You have to grit your teeth and fight those cravings. Sooner or later they go away.

quoted for truth, honestly. i've seen some fat ****s who are mega fit at running and general excercises, and skinny ****s who collapse after running 2 miles. got told it something to do with the volume inside your body, breathing in and out air or something, wasn't really listening but it was among them lines. (she was a medic officer).

Alexander Povetkin has a surprising amount of baby fat for a guy who throws about 900 punches a fight. That is about twice the heavyweight average. The old saying must be true, you can't judge a book by its cover.
Coeco 08-10-2008, 10:00 PM Is that true? I always thought its like, The more fat you had, the less fit you are
Oriachim 08-11-2008, 09:07 AM Is that true? I always thought its like, The more fat you had, the less fit you are
Generally yes, because fat people who eat lots of food generally don't do any fitness whatsoever. however you get some fat people who eat food but train or people who are naturally quite fat even though they eat healthy and train crazy to, then you get skinny people who eat unhealthy and do no training but are really thin.
James78 08-11-2008, 04:22 PM my prob is that I train hard and eat and drink well all week then I just pig the **** out at weekends like a tit and throw it all away

whats a paleolithic diet consist off, ive never heard off it..A strict diet based on natural foods which would have been eaten by our hunter gatherer ancestors. Many argue it is more suitable for humans. It is strict and even excludes natural foods which need to be milled as only birds can eat such foods unprocessed.
I've been on a purely paleolithic diet for over half a year now. Feel great. No urges to eat the food I used to a year ago.

You do right. I feel the same way and I am on a similar diet (www.spartanhealth.com) although I inlcude small amounts of whole grains. Once you get use to it and you have junk food after a bit, you realise that **** was just that; ****!!! And not worth it!
Only bums would not see the benefits of makiing such a small sacrifice (I don't see it as even that) and as for rednecks drinking beer, just forget about it. Anyone who drinks beer and TRIES to box will only end up as a bum!
