Hey guys,
I need your help here. I have a bout (amateur) scheduled today at my gym. I've been training hard and have been waiting for this fight, but this morning, I woke up and felt nauseous and dizzy and ****. My fight's in about 2 hours and I still feel the same. I don't want to call it off cuz I don't wanna look like a *****.
Can I do anything to save myself?

Sugar sugar sugar????? that is the complete worst thing you can do before a fight. Maybe some fruit but no sugar.

Hey guys, thanks for your help. And you were right it was the sugar. My trainer got all mad at me and started yelling, but I won the fight. Luckily, the guy I fought was 3 inches shorter than me and stocky. He was really slow and kept his hands low the whole fight like he was trying to say he had a good chin, even though we had the headgear on. So, I got the decision, but I was really lucky because I didn't feel right at all.

Sugar usually for burst energy or a *jump start* kind of effect. Not a good long term solution but can help with sluggishness on a slow day.

like as soon as possible say 10 mins before the fight have some chocolate or lollies for a quick boost........
congrats on winning the fight man, you performed well under adversity nicely done.

whats your record and age and weight?

Sugar, chocolate, before a fight? That isn't a very smart idea.

Sugar gives you a short burst of energy, then you crash.

Try eating good foods specially before a fight. After weigh-ins I usually get some pasta, along with a orange juice(Which I dispose of quickly), and then a gatorade. After that it is all water.

Don't fill your body with junk, specially moments before a fight.

Hey Kostya, I am 3-0, that was my third amateur fight. I am 14 years old, 5'8", and 132 lbs. Trust me, I learned my lesson and I plan on competing in the amateurs for a long time because I love to box.

im 0-1 atm with an exhibition fight also (first real fight i had little to no sparring, crap trainer....and plus it was a pretty crap decision) but now i have a good trainer and good sparring lol i was supposed to fight a few weeks ago but kid pulled out because of a rib injury...but i will be fighting him in 6 weeks hopefully

good luck in your future bouts
