I can't speak for Sydney but in Melbourne, Kick boxing is a lot more popular than boxing. I am not talking about the number of audiences but the participation rates. Most kids would rather do Kick boxing than Boxing in Melbourne.

I'm a big boxing fan. Been watching ESPN fioght nights since I was in High School. I still watch boxing now and read all the news on ********boxing.com.
I never watch muay thai fights but I love K1 max.
I do kickboxing though coz Its alot easier to learn and the fights arent that brutal. In kickboxing I think the promotions are a bit better with entrance music and everything. I've only had 14 fights and Ive already been on Fox Sports 3 times.
i plan to cross over to boxing though coz I have to start making money

but kick boxing doesnt have the backing, its not an olympic sport and not as entrenched in australia as boxing is....boxing is more popular than kick boxing in australia, amateur boxing is quite big in QLD and WA as well as NSW.....if some dumb 10 year olds prefer kick boxing, and i doubt they would even stick to it and compete anyway, who gives a ****
