Gringo mentioned the same thing. I could see moving the playoffs up a week...
SonnyG8R 07-28-2008, 01:24 PM pbds confirmed that he was in but he hasn't joined the league yet. Hopefully he hasn't changed his mind...
oldgringo 07-28-2008, 01:43 PM Drafted a mock team:
Drew Brees
Chad Johnson
Roddy White
Dwayne Bowe
Frank Gore
Marion Barber
Todd Heap
Neil Rackers
Minnesota
Edgerrin James
Anthony Gonzalez
Felix Jones
Matt Schaub
Steve Smith (Giants)
Patrick Crayton
Not bad. If I ended up with something like this in this league or my other cash league I would be pretty happy. Only thing I missed on was getting Shockey instead of Heap. Only a 10 man league though, so I'm rolling with more depth than normal.

You can mock draft on Yahoo?
oldgringo 07-28-2008, 02:57 PM You can mock draft on Yahoo?
Not really a mock...just a public league that I won't end up checking ever. I usually get in an extra team or two just to test the waters before I draft in my real leagues.

Oh I see. I'm going to join another random league soon as well. The max you can have on a yahoo account is three.
SonnyG8R 07-28-2008, 08:47 PM Peebs is in. That leaves 2 open spots. Actually 14 teams would be cool too. Each team would then play every other team once and we could have weeks 14, 15, and 16 for the playoffs.
But first things first. Let's get those last 2 spots filled.
Somebody pm Gomez. You know he's going to want in.
SonnyG8R 07-28-2008, 08:48 PM ESPN and sportsline both have mock drafts. I'll probably enter one one of these evenings when I'm bored...

Yeah Gomez should be in for sure.
I think Duggie should get in too. He seems to know a good deal about football...dunno if he's into fantasy sports though.

yall doin another fantasy football? more than the 2 i'm in..lol....
oldgringo 07-28-2008, 09:21 PM And I'd be down for 14 teams as well...if we could get that many dedicated managers.
If you want I could get 14-K & UncleJ, if you really want to go through with 14 teams. They are both fantasy vets and will manage all year. Last resort kind of thing because I know we'd rather have an all BS league.

no just the one we're already in.

I think 14 teams would be sweet. We'll give it another week or two and see who wants in. I pm'd Torino too. He's been in a few leagues and knows his stuff. It's good to know we have 2 guys if we need them though. I also read a bit closer and apparently we can make this a keeper league. The way it will work is that each manager who plays again next year will get to keep any 2 offensive players and 1 defensive. Then I just plug the players in during next years draft...
Thoughts...

Good call on Torino. He played pretty well a couple of years ago.
I like the keeper idea.
Kobe Bryant 07-29-2008, 12:15 AM That would be sweet. I thought you had to pay for keeper leagues though.
Dirt E Gomez 07-29-2008, 01:03 AM I'm moderately insulted that it took so long to get an invite to me.

SonnyG8R 07-29-2008, 01:16 AM That would be sweet. I thought you had to pay for keeper leagues though.
Well we can still have a sleeper league of sorts. In the league you pay for we could have players we keep for 1, 2 and 3 years. You have to decide after the draft, but before the season starts. So you have players that are staggered as they hit "free agency" and if you trade for a player you pick up his "contract" as well. Obviously it is more involved and requires more attention than a normal league.
Managers in the free leagues do have the ability to set keepers for each team and slot them in as the draft goes along. It's a good first step for us I think. 2 offensive players and 1 defensive should be good and I am thinking we can slot them based on their average draft position, but that is up for debate. Anyway we don't have to worry about that right now, however it will make good young talent a more valuable commodity...
Dirt E Gomez 07-29-2008, 01:23 AM I sent you an invite on day 1 along with the other regulars...

I sent a pm on 6-21-2008. It was a bulk pm to you, fix, gringo, lefhook, etc.
I haven't heard back from Explosivo and a few others. I wonder if they are experiencing pm difficulties as well?
Torino 07-29-2008, 02:58 PM Is there still an opening? If so, I want in!

Probably deleted it on accident. After I was bored for a few days of staying #1 in the arcade I haven't gone back so I get ****ing a thousand of those "your highscore has been beaten" shit sent to my inbox, so I probably just deleted it without looking at it.

SonnyG8R 07-30-2008, 12:07 AM Draft time is still the same correct?
Yes. As of right now the draft is set for Saturday Aug 23 at 6:30pm EDT. If this is a major problem for anyone please let me know and I will try to accommodate as many people as possible. I highly recommend showing up for the draft or at the very least setting you player preferences. This is a no-trade league and the draft will be critical...

I'm 50-50 on the day, I'm going on vacation but I believe the date has been pushed to that Sunday. Regardless, even if I wont be there I'll still choose players beforehand so there'll be no need to change the date.

We discussed it last year.
oldgringo 07-30-2008, 03:19 AM No trade league doesn't bother me in the least. I'm versatile....I can draft a killer team and I can trade for one.

Did this draft yesterday. It's a 20 man h2h league. Had to draft 4 DB/4DL/3D.
The offense was 1QB/1WR/1RB/2WT/2WR and 5 bench spots and a kicker.
Oh and I had the 8th pick.
SonnyG8R 07-30-2008, 11:17 PM This is gonna be a deep ****ing draft. Guys like Ted Ginn Jr are going to be starting WR's...
I'm glad you mentioned that. I've been toying with the idea of eliminating the rb/wr and te/wr positions. Also possibly limiting bench size to 5. The reason for this would be to open up the "free agent market" a bit.

If anything, I would get rid of one "D" position (leaving 6 overall defensive positions), one flex position (the W/T position preferably), and one K position.

Something like that. I don't mind it the way it is though. I like the thought of having to feature guys like Kevin Faulk and Leon Washington who get scrappy rushing yards and receptions.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I think this looks best, currently it is set up with 3 "D". I say definitely switch that over to a flex WR/RB position.
When you have 3 potential RB's in the lineup it rewards drafting guys who are durable and hold up all season. Otherwise we will have people patching in shit RB's every week and winning because some fat shit on their defense returned a fumble for a touchdown.

You can make your-own pre-draft ranking and let the 'machine' do the picking. But please show up. I live-drafted for the first time last year in an all-danish league. It was very entertaining as I am sure this will be with you guys from boxingscene.

oldgringo 08-18-2008, 12:36 AM Just drafted my team in my friends league (5th pick):

6. (56) Roddy White WR
7. (65) Earnest Graham RB
8. (76) Nick Barnett DL
9. (85) Ernie Sims DL
10. (96) Jonathan Stewart RB
11. (105) Jon Beason DL
12. (116) Terrence McGee DB
13. (125) David Garrard QB
14. (136) Bernard Berrian WR
15. (145) Richard Marshall DB

17. (165) Keith Bulluck DL
18. (176) Vernon Davis TE
19. (185) Devin Hester WR
20. (196) Jason Elam K
Solid squad considering I got the BS 5th overall pick. Braylon/Smith/White is going to be deadly and Brees is going to have a career year in my opinion. The defense is stout as well.
RAESAAD 08-19-2008, 06:08 PM The more I think about this I'm not sure how much I like this whole 14 team thing.....there aren't enough quality players to go around.....but I guess thats what makes it more tricky. I'm down, I'm playing, I'm just saying......

It makes it awesome. Makes it so that you really have to put a badass team together to win. It'll be much more involving than just having a loaded roster (which you'd have in a 10 man league) and letting it go every week. Really gotta do some research and draft some steals in the late rounds.
I already have the squad put together in my head.

yeah you're right...It's just new to me. I'll adapt...it'll be fun I'm sure.
Kobe Bryant 08-19-2008, 09:19 PM Rae you'll be alright trust me. Try a 20 man league which I drafted in. Shit's crazy son.
Dirt E Gomez 08-20-2008, 12:26 AM For the record, next year I say we try an auction draft. I've never done one and always wanted to try it, could do a normal one too since I'd imagine a lot of people haven't done it either.

I would be up for that as a second league. Brings the whole GM/salary cap aspect into the game...

I don't see any reason I won't being playing fantasy sports with you guys until the day I die.....so yeah hopefully I'll be around for next years league. this keeper thing makes Peterson more of a 1st pick IMO.

Nah, it's not like that. Auction drafting is everybody comes with X amount of "dollars". Like, say $200 per person. Using that money, the players of the league are auctioned off until everybody's roster is full or out of money. It's just a different way of picking.
This keeper league is strange if we're doing it like that. In leagues past, the keeper rules aren't so loose so you can't build some ridiculous dynasty.

This is not a true keeper league. You have to pay to upgrade for the keeper option. However, the commish can reserve certain players for certian teams in specified rounds. If the league feels 3 offensive and 2 defensive players is too many we can try 2 and 1. Maybe I will make a poll...
AliKillsTyson 08-22-2008, 02:07 PM I just did a practice draft in a really funky league where we start 3 qb's each week, 2 TE and 2 Team D as well as the Ind. defensive players. Here are the results:
QB Derek Anderson (Cle - QB)
QB Marc Bulger (StL - QB)
QB Matt Schaub (Hou - QB)
WR Reggie Wayne (Ind - WR)
WR Plaxico Burress (NYG - WR)
WR Nate Burleson (Sea - WR)
RB LaDainian Tomlinson (SD - RB)
RB Willie Parker (Pit - RB)
TE Heath Miller (Pit - TE)
TE Donald Lee (GB - TE)
W/T Derrick Mason (Bal - WR)
W/R Earnest Graham (TB - RB)
BN Fred Taylor (Jac - RB)
BN Reggie Brown (Phi - WR)
BN Warrick Dunn (TB - RB)
K Rob Bironas (Ten - K)
DEF Jacksonville (Jac - DEF)
DEF Arizona (Ari - DEF)
D Jon Beason (Car - DL)
D Justin Tuck (NYG - DL)
DB Marcus Trufant (Sea - DB)
DL Will Witherspoon (StL - DL)
BN Nick Barnett (GB - DL)
SonnyG8R 08-22-2008, 04:31 PM I've adjusted the settings slightly folks. It seemed like a lot of people wante both WR/TE and WR/RB and I also added a team defense along with the individual defensive players. This draft is going to be insanely deep. I can't wait...

oldgringo 08-24-2008, 02:36 PM I'm loving my squadron. Got Moss at 10, Drew Brees which I was hoping for, Calvin & McFadden and a solid defense. Jon Beason is going to lead the league in tackles. Also got my sleepers like Ricky Williams, Eddie Royal and Sidney Rice.
I got wicked hammahd at the ****in bah last night after the draft and don't remember who else took who or the rest of the draft positions. All I remember is Sonny took Brady....just cause he was drafting in front of me. Who had a good draft? Looking for some input.
SonnyG8R 08-24-2008, 02:56 PM I have to admit that was a difficult draft. I had the 9th pick out of 14 which is a bad spot and I have watched Zero exhibition football and done zero prep. I know my shit though so I figured no big deal. The toughest part was the IDP's. I knew who I wanted but yahoos IDP rankings are so ****ed up that they were tough to find.
Anyway, here is how I would rate my team:
QB's - A
As long as Peyton stays healthy he is going to have a huge year. In fact I predict he will have a better year than Brady. Russell will be adequate as a bye week replacement.
RB's - C+
It bothers me that my startinb backs both share a considerable amount of the running load for there teams. That being said if Fred Taylor gets injured Jones-Drew immediately vaults to a top 5-10 back. I think Rudi Johnson will bounce back and have a nice year and Kevin Jones could see significant playing time if Forte struggles.
WR's - B-
Chad Johnson has tremendous upside as we all know. Roddy White had a breakout year last season, and Coles now has Brett Favre throwing to him. These three #1 recievers are solid if not great. Reggie Brown is a solid #2 and Drew Bennett will come back with a bang if Bulger can stay healthy. Deion Branch...He may become waiver fodder. We'll see.
TE - D
Randy McMichael is probably the worst starting TE in our league.
K - B+
Mason Crosby will be a fg machine.
DEF - A
A top 2 defense plus a top 12-15 defense will bring in loads of points.
IDP - B
2 top 5 DL's in Kampman and Smith. 2 top 10 LB's in Harris and Fletcher. 2 top 10 DB's in Wilson and Atogwe.
Kobe Bryant 08-24-2008, 03:04 PM I really like Rae's team. Rivers could have a big year with his new found bravado. His wideouts are solid across the board. He has Houshmenzadeh and Galloway. Jenkins is good but I'm not sure about who will be getting him the ball. But still he should have a good year. I'm loving his backs in Jackson (he is the Rams offense), Michael Turner is as explosive as they get and now he's the man, and Lendale if healthy is 1100 yards. Then he has Boss and Shockey that to me is a pretty good team.
kbpoetree 08-24-2008, 03:37 PM i still got most guys i wanted...fell a lil short on DB's well kinda...overall i feel i'll b half ok...may struggle on the WR/TE side of things..and need some break out years from one or so of my RB's i feel surely either Cutler or Young can again have a good year for me...

I really wanted Atogwe but you took him right before I could get the chance. I like my DB's though I have Hall and Woodson.
oldgringo 08-24-2008, 03:59 PM On paper I would rate my roster:
QB: A-
Brees is a stud, he has Shockey to throw to now, and his wideouts have only gotten better. He's probably a tier below Peyton and Brady, but he's not far off those two at all. Schaub is a competent backup who is only getting better as he adjusts to his system.
WR: A
My best and deepest position. Moss falling to me at 10 was huge. I expect him to have another great year. Calvin Johnson could be a monster this year if he stays healthy. Most talented wideout since Randy and Terrell. Bowe is a bright spot in a poor passing attack, he should see plenty of footballs thrown his way. Meachem, Rice, and Royal are all sleeper picks. I expect one of them to surprise me with a big year.
RB: B
McFadden has unlimited potential. Even with 15-20 looks a game running/receiving he could produce big results. Mendenhall is the same way. He's gonna spell Willie Parker nicely this year...hopefully he'll get a lot of goal line touches. Ricky Williams is going for 1000 yds & 10 tds this year....believe it. Chris Perry is back to old form and will be a good spell back for Rudi Johnson in Cincy.
TE: C+
Owen Daniels was sneaky good last year and Dustin Keller is a great talent. One of them will be a solid contibutor, but neither are elite level yet.
K: Who cares....F for fail
DEF: B-
Philly D will be better this year, but they aren't a top defense anymore like they were several years ago.
IDP: A
Beason, DJ Williams, Urlacher, Dansby, Bob Sanders, Ernie Sims....studs.
Overall....B+. I like my youth.
Kobe Bryant 08-24-2008, 04:24 PM QB- Romo is a no brainer type of pick. Pennington is decent enough to not hurt me on Romo's bye week if he's still healthy. I wanted Russell as a back up but Chad will do.
Grade: A-
WR: Reggie Wayne is now Manning's number one target. Patrick Crayton should have a much better year add to the fact that I have the guy throwing to him, the connection should produce somewhat. Donald Driver is a dependable veteran that Rodgers will rely on. I expect similar numbers for him this year. Cotchery put up solid numbers last year and he's really fast. I see him being Favre's new Greg Jennings. My Tedd Ginn pick was a complete reach but he could be serviceable if he can actually become an offensive option. And add that he's valuable for the simple reason that he is a great return threat.
Grade: B
RB: Weakest spot on my team. I have no true number one go to guy. I took Reggie, this is a make or break year something will happen. Either he;ll have a crazy year or he'll be a complete bust. He has the skill set to help me in this league. Ability to pick up a lot of yards on drop offs and tally up receptions. And has the big play factor at times. Fred Taylor is dependable the last 3 years of his career has seen him as healthy as he's ever been in his entire career. He splits carries though. And he's only getting older with a great young back in Jones Drew alongside. Chester Taylor is just a solid back up period. Kind of like Turner was to LT. He'll be a decent fill in if injuires occur to my main backs. Julius Jones is decent has only Morris to compete with for carries. Hightower has impressed everyone so far it's just an attempt at a steal for me.
Grade:C+
TE: I have Zach Miller. Tight ends are most valuable to young QB's. It seems as though Russell so far in preseason has a connection with him. TE is a total crap shoot anyway though.
Grade: C
K: Who gives a shit.
Grade: NG
Team Defense: I have Indi pretty solid defense. One of the best last year.
Grade: B-
IDP: Ray Ray, Pierce, and Brackett will be my money makers. Most LB's are the leading point getters. I have good players at their position. Tuck is an excelent young end and will see more plays now that Strahan is gone. But will it score big? Probably not. Same with Jason Taylor a DE that is good but probably won't crack more than a 100 fantasy points. My DB's are DeAngelo Hall and Charles Woodson. Probably 5 picks a piece. Woodson is actually a good play maker on getting tackles as well.
Grade: C/C-
Kobe Bryant 08-24-2008, 05:27 PM Osi out for the year. Damn that really sucks. They need to beg Strahan out of retirement.
Kobe Bryant 08-24-2008, 06:18 PM Wow missed the draft. My bad. I thought it was at 4 then 2. Then I look and I see it was at 1. Ouch.

oldgringo 08-25-2008, 11:45 AM Yes.
Look at page 4 Rose.
SonnyG8R 08-25-2008, 02:25 PM Osi out for the year. Damn that really sucks. They need to beg Strahan out of retirement.
Yeah, that's a huge loss for what could have been the best defense in the NFL. Huge, Huge loss. :damnit1:
SonnyG8R 08-25-2008, 03:23 PM Former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan would consider returning to the team in the wake of Osi Umenyiora's season-ending knee injury, the New York Daily News has reported, citing an unnamed source.
According to the paper, Strahan, 36, who retired in the offseason after helping lead the Giants to a Super Bowl championship, would come back with the Giants if offered an $8 million contract for this season, according to a source close to the seven-time Pro Bowler.
"If the Giants make a sincere overture, it's a good chance that Strahan would consider coming back," the source said, according to the Daily News. "There are other things he has to take into consideration: the money and his contract with Fox."
Strahan currently holds a position at Fox Sports as an NFL studio analyst.
"But if the Giants really want him, they have a shot," the source said. "It's not out of the question."
The Giants appear open to the idea.
Co-owner Steve Tisch told the New York Post the Giants have warmed to Strahan returning.
"Would I like Michael to be a New York Giant this season? Absolutely. Absolutely," Tisch told the Post. "Will he be? I have no idea. I don't even want to put a percentage on it but things changed very quickly [Saturday] night and if one of the potential solutions is to reach out to Michael, worst-case, it's certainly worth a phone call.''
Coach Tom Coughlin addressed the Strahan reports Monday and the Giants' void at defensive end.
A Giant Hole?
Michael Strahan's retirement has proved part and parcel of the Giants' struggle this offseason to maintain a Super Bowl-caliber defense. Defensive end Osi Umenyiora was the latest loss.
2008 offseason DE Michael Strahan Retired
LB Kawika Mitchell Signed with Bills
LB Reggie Torbor Signed with Dolphins
S Gibril Wilson Signed with Raiders
DE Osi Umenyiora Out for season
"There hasn't been any discussion that I have been involved in there," Coughlin said. "We are going to explore every option that is available. And the last time that I talked with Michael he had accepted his new challenge and was very happy about that. And I have not spoken with him at all since the other night's game."
Coughlin said the Giants would move strongside linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka back to defensive end.
Kiwanuka was shifted to linebacker last year so the team could put its best 11 players on the field.
"The move was always to get the best, most quality people on the field," Coughlin said. "And Mathias accepted every job that we have offered and every task we have presented him with. I talked with him yesterday and he was more than ready to do whatever we wanted him to do that was in the best interest of the team."
Strahan, who is vacationing in Greece, turned down a $6 million contract offer in the offseason. He has since signed to work on Fox Sports NFL pregame shows on Sunday.
"There is no clock running," Coughlin said. "Obviously, whatever we can do that is in the best interest of our team, we will do it. I don't know that there is any sense of real --- we have people here that can play the positions. Obviously when you take Mathias and put him down, that gives more opportunity at the linebacker spot."
Strahan wouldn't confirm the possibility of returning in an interview with the NFL Network.
"I haven't heard from anybody else, so to say if I would or wouldn't is premature," Strahan said. "So I'm enjoying my retired life right now."
Strahan retired in June, ending a 15-year career highlighted by the Giants' stunning Super Bowl victory over the unbeaten New England Patriots.
• Blog network: NFL Nation
Coughlin recently talked with Strahan about his TV career.
"The only thing I talked with Michael about was his new challenge, moving forward in his new assignment and he was very excited about that," Coughlin said, according to The Associated Press.
Agent Tony Agnone said the Giants have not contacted him to ask about Strahan.
"Obviously, he loves the Giants and obviously he is working for Fox," Agnone said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "Right now he is relaxing and getting ready for his Fox gig."
Strahan missed all of training camp last season while mulling retirement. He reported to the team a little more than a week before the season opener and played well.
However, he trained while thinking about retirement last year and was in good shape.
The Giants open the season on Sept. 4 against the Washington Redskins.
Teammates tended to doubt that Strahan would return.
"As I know it, he is probably on a beach somewhere sipping on some pina coladas, so I doubt football is the first thing on his mind today," said defensive end Justin Tuck, who replaced Strahan at left end.
Defensive tackle Barry Cofield said Strahan gave no indication that he wanted to play again when he visited the Giants at training camp in Albany, N.Y., less than two weeks ago.
"He has not been bouncing back and forth like [Brett] Favre," Cofield said. "He has been pretty happy. We saw him up here and he said he missed it but he was content. He has decided to go on to the next phase of his life so I don't look too strongly into that [him playing again.]"
Danny Clark, a nine-year veteran who was signed as a free agent in the offseason, will move from weakside linebacker to the strong side to replace Kiwanuka. Gerris Wilkinson will start at weakside linebacker.

The Fix 08-26-2008, 08:06 PM ill grade my team
QB - B+
garrard has decent numbers and doesnt make mistakes and has confidence now that he has that huge contract and is the bonafide number 1. i took a pass on derek anderson and marc bulger, as for anderson i have a feeling he may be a one year wonder and i didnt want to take that chance especially with all the pressure the browns will have on them to compete in the afc. trent edwards is a good backup, he was actually one of my first choices as a back up.
RB - A
i think i have two studs(gore and w.parker) that could compete for the rushing title and hopefully put up some points. i have tatum bell as well who will start for the lions and hopefully put up similar numbers to kevin jones, the guy he is replacing. only concern is injuries. but this is the nfl, no one is immune.
WR - D+
my worst draft as far as recievers are concerned ever.... colston is the only proven big numbers guy.... i just hope bobby engram comes back fast and puts up numbers close to last year(1100 yards).
TE- A+
kellen winslow is a great player and will put up excellent numbers once again, there is a concern as far as injuries but he will get wide open with stallworth and edwards at the wr. alge crumpler is rumored to be fitting in real nice with vince young and with the titans lack of depth at wr crumpler good get a lot of catches.
DEF- A
cant go wrong with the ravens, always put up great numbers.
IDP - A+
mario williams, julian peterson, lofa tatupu, sean jones, adrain wilson, chris harris, will witherspoon and julius peppers.... all proven, all will put up numbers... i think that i will have the best defense in our league, and im going to need it with my lack of recievers.

I think you're right about Anderson. He will come back down to earth this year. Tatum Bell is only listed atop our depth chart. Give him 2 games and he'll be buried behind Aveion Cason because he ****in blows.
Mendenhall is going to steal Willie's shine.

Which players are keepers? Was it from last year? Or did you just start up this year? If it's brand new then you must play with some idiots who would let you draft Tom Brady and Moss and LT. Jesus you better go undeafeated with that ****in team.
Edit: Oh I see you kept Moss and Peterson. But how in the hell did you get Brady and LT?

Looks like bullshit to me....It would be simply impossible to get that team, even if there were complete idiots at the draft...simply impossible.
I'm not real excited about my team overall especially at WR but we'll see how it goes.....
RAESAAD 08-29-2008, 06:45 PM Actually after another peek I should be alright but I am concerned about WR.....I'm fairly stacked at RB as long Turner does as well as I think he should. oldgringo 09-08-2008, 02:35 PM Yeah Brady is going for history. Sucks that he has a year set back and possible lingering complications/effects after this year.
And yeah it REALLY sucks for anyone who drafted him. So ironic that the minute the Pats take him off their injury report he goes down for the year...
I could really use a better team defense. Tampa should be solid I guess.

I mean I am a big time Pats hater. But I never like to see big time stars like Brady go down for the year.
My team defense was Indi. They got demolished on the ground last night. I picked up Bufalo they sould be good.
Tampa plays really good defense. It is just that the Saints have a lot of weapons out there. They did a fairly good job. It's just they gave up 3 big time plays for touchdowns. Other than that they were pretty solid. I wish I didn't have to face the quarterback going up against the Rams. McNabb had a huge day for Torino.

No shit there's 14 ****ing teams and both a W/r and W/t position.....this is the craziest league I've ever played in but like you've stated it does make it very challenging. I got fairly lucky with big games from Rivers and Turner.....also Jenkins sneaking in a TD for me there. Should be very interesting to say the least, especially with Brady out all year.
I'm willing to take offers for Ray Rice or Felix Jones, both of whom could make noise this year especially if something happens to Barber or McGahee both of whom are nicked up at the moment as well....I'm looking for a solid WR in return......
Barring some crazy things happening I should have a nice week 1 win under mybelt.

Kobe Bryant 09-09-2008, 02:44 AM More than likely I lost. But still Driver had a TD called back and Romo should have at least had two more passing TD's. Regardless I think I am capable of making the playoffs. Should be a fun year.

Im gonna own GetYahPopcornReady this week, I cant figure out why you would favor him when he starts fred taylor and chester taylor as his 2 and 3 RB's. neither guy will average more than 50 yards per game and wont combine to score more then 6-8 TD's.
I have Chris Henry and Kevin Curtis on my bench along with Chris Johnson of the Titans (way better fantasy player than either taylor) and he is my 4th RB.
When Curtis and Henry are back im gonna be wrecking everyone in my path.

We shall see. Jax went away from what they do best last week. They threw it 35 times. That's not their style. They'll get back to smashmouth football on the ground with Taylor at the helm. He had an 8 game 100 yard rush streak snapped. Taylor I can't defend but you won't own shit.

Fix has the best team, but then again he finished in first place last year only to choke in the playoffs. I call this the Cowboys complex.
It's too early to make any informed commentary. Give it a few more weeks and we should know more...
oldgringo 09-09-2008, 02:11 PM Im gonna own GetYahPopcornReady this week, I cant figure out why you would favor him when he starts fred taylor and chester taylor as his 2 and 3 RB's. neither guy will average more than 50 yards per game and wont combine to score more then 6-8 TD's.
I have Chris Henry and Kevin Curtis on my bench along with Chris Johnson of the Titans (way better fantasy player than either taylor) and he is my 4th RB.
When Curtis and Henry are back im gonna be wrecking everyone in my path.
Chris Johnson is looking like the real deal.
Chris Henry is going to **** up again.
I like his QB and Wideouts to carry him (Popcorn) most weeks.

You are correct it's way too early to talk. I was terrible last year. I know I can win more than two times this season. Last year I was terrible. Manning will be okay. Remember he didn't practice and didn't do any preseason. He did pretty well for not having done shit the whole offseason. I think the knee is fine. It's just it has to get stronger. He's lost like 15 pounds because the medication he's taking takes away from his want to eat. He'll recover. He didn't look hobble really. He was off balance because his footwork is very very rusty.
oldgringo 09-09-2008, 02:14 PM McFadden is going for 30-40 rec and 1200 total yards this year. 6-8 total tds.
I can live with that.
I need Willie Parker to **** up a little for MEndenhall though.

im always glad when i dont have any platoon situations involving any of my RBs, I hate that shit.
I think 1200 total yards is a little generous considering Fargas looked pretty damn good himself last night. the receptions may be realistic considering they will be playing every 2nd half from two touchdowns behind. Maybe the worst pro football team ever.
Hitman932 09-09-2008, 02:31 PM Chris Johnson is looking like the real deal.

I know CJ is the real deal, ive been saying it since i bet 100 bucks on east carolina to beat boise state last year
chris henry may **** up again but by all accounts he has been a model teammate since returning. he represented the bengals as a captain for the coin toss for the final preseason game.

sorry to say but the people and experts who think McFadden is comparable to A Peterson...they smoken crazy shit....it aint gon happen..sorry..he is a gr8 running back and i like him a lot..but guys like AP come once in like every 5 or ten years...i think the best looking running back after watching tons of games looks like Chicagoes Forte..he looked sharp..he ran well read D well changed directions well..i wuz impressed

thanks, i just need my wr's to get/stay healthy. im hoping dante rosario keeps it up, he and delhomme looked good week one.
i dont think ill run off 10 or 11 wins in a row like last year though, the parity in this league is great.
Kobe Bryant 09-10-2008, 01:39 PM Who has stat tracker? I think I'll get it. I got it for baseball.

there goes colston.l o l
not much you can really do though, i did pick up courtney taylor of the seahawks who looks like he'll get some attention with engram, branch, and burleson out. matter of fact, he could be there number 1.
i picked up michael pittman today as well, he should atleast score some touchdowns.
Duggie 09-10-2008, 05:06 PM I'm happy with my three WR's all solid, Burress,Holmes and Marshall. If I don't make the playoffs it will for sure be a poor year in fantasy land

thats solid, my WR corps are in a state of emergency.
i thought i could get by with harrison, burleson and berrian until curtis and henry were playing again. now burleson tears an ACL and im gonna have to play a guy off the waiver wire this week.

RAESAAD 09-10-2008, 06:36 PM Early playoff prediction:
Romo Cop
Torino's Cheaters
GetYahPopcornReady
Robert Mugabe
AK47 (if Keng picks up a real defense)
6rings
That's what I'm thinkin. Best looking teams in the league to me. Peebs has a solid roster, as does Torino. Keng needs to pick up a real defense or his team will suck. It could be very good though.
Damn I feel left out.....I'm light at WR but have alot of quality RB and my defense should do very well.....I'm gonna say I make the playoffs.

oldgringo 09-15-2008, 02:32 PM Treez and Keng,

Antoine Winfield
Justin Tuck
Chris Gamble
DJ Williams
Mike Peterson
Troy Polamalu
Lawyer Milloy
Gary Brackett
Aaron Ross
All reliable options....guys that have potential to get you more than 0-4 points every week. Just a suggestion. Treez I see you have a bunch of Defensive Lineman at your D/DL spots and Keng just has a bunch of no names. It would make you guys much more competitive every week.

Kobe Bryant 09-16-2008, 01:16 PM Julius Jones and Fred Taylor, I need you guys to come up big. Jones plays against a terrible team in the Rams and already punished the 9ers last week. Taylor plays against an Indi team that can be run on.

Torino 09-17-2008, 09:32 AM Yeah Brady is going for history. Sucks that he has a year set back and possible lingering complications/effects after this year.
And yeah it REALLY sucks for anyone who drafted him. So ironic that the minute the Pats take him off their injury report he goes down for the year...
I could really use a better team defense. Tampa should be solid I guess.

SonnyG8R 09-22-2008, 02:58 PM First of all I have to say Giants 3-0 **** Yeah!!
Second, Miami 38 Pats 13 Bwaa ha ha ha ha!!! Sorry couldn't resist.
Third, It was nice to see the Jags finally get a win. The way they controlled the clock in the second half was insane.
Forth, Derrick Anderson sucks. I can't believe I wasted a 3rd round pick on him in another league.
Fifth, Tennessee's defense is unreal!
Sixth and lastly, I will spell out exactly how the keeper league will work later this afternoon/early evening. We may want to make a poll regarding how many players to keep. But whatever we decide we will do as a league and we will do it before the end of the week 4 games. Stay tuned...

Yeah I think you take it. Romo's subpar game really cost me this week. Taylor and Julius Jones stepped up like I neeeded them to. And Reggie has be amazing for me this season. But yeah I think I'll go 1-2. Just praying for a 2TD game for Cotchery. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
RAESAAD 09-22-2008, 08:43 PM Brutal beatdown this week for Gringo at the hands of The Bucskins.....I think it's the first time I've ever beaten Gringo in any fantasy sport H2H.....Finally got a good week out of TJ Housyourdaddy and Turner has been great overall thus far.....Also love having Felix Jones as a 3rd RB he's doing very well so far even playing behind Barber. Antonio Bryant was a risky play this week that paid off bigtime, I like him to have a big year will Galloway looking like he's at the end of the road. I'm gonna hang on to him for a while tho he may come back in a few weeks and suprise us but I'm not counting on it. Shockey is out 3-6 weeks so I'm going to need to find another TE for a few weeks although Boss finally caught a few balls and scored this week so I may try him out for a couple of weeks. L. No but for real I'm feeling Duggie's pain. 192 points is no good, yet it would have beaten 10+ other people in the league. Too bad.
I just hope this whole Matt Cassel sucking thing doesn't continue all year. It'd suck if my #1 overall was garbage overnight because of an inept QB.

I give Moss 2 weeks before he pulls a Moss on everyone. Taking plays off, not blocking down field, giving a half assed effort overall.

He is already doing that, I have seen several talking heads showing film of Moss half assing it throughout each of the games.
The question is how long the Patriots put up with it, soon as they say something he will pull the aforementioned "Moss"

I'm in a couple of leagues and my strategy was Brees all the way. They have no ground game (well maybe now they do if Deuce is healthy) so I figured Brees would be throwing the pigskin all around the field. They aren't a dominant team either so hopefully he'll be forced to perform all year.

Yeah he is a smart pick because you can get him in most leagues in the 3rd or 4th round, and he puts up huge numbers. In my fantasy leagues my primary qb's are Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, and Drew Brees. All very solid IMO.
I really like what Rudi Johnson did last week. I drafted him near the end of the draft and he could turn into a solid low 1 or high 2 back. My biggest concern right now is Ocho Stinko. But It looks like I am headed towards my second straight victory so with some luck and some quality management I am hopeful of at least making the playoffs...
Kobe Bryant 09-29-2008, 02:44 PM Og you should be straight. Medenhall only needs a pretty decent game to squeak out a close victory. Hopefully for me this is one of those 6-3 games with lots of punts. All you need is about 16points. Driver's one point performance will come back to kill me.
If I do win it'll be from picking up Lance Moore and taking away a bit of steam from Brees' performance.
