By far 95 was much worse...the only good thing about 95, is that Holy,Tyson and Lewis (among others) were right there. Now, there are no worthy contenders behind the three stooges.errrrrr..champs
julDilla 11-02-2004, 12:37 AM are you kidding me, you cant go wrong with john ruiz im going with 04, 95 is a joke compare to it
phallus 11-02-2004, 12:41 AM Another difference is, now there's no Lennox Lewis on the horizon
Hurlex 11-02-2004, 01:13 AM maybe it should be phrased:ruiz vs the 95 HW :D
ok no seriuosly..though...the 95 year was worst...i mean even ruiz...some of us hate him...but he fights the best and keps onw inning...so it just makes you wanna watch next time he's fighting a good puncher , hoping for him to lose but knowing somewhere in the back of ur mind this motherf**ker is gonna win again lol..so atleast ruiz makes u watch him over and over...just sometimes not for good reasons
phallus 11-02-2004, 01:19 AM i'll be watching when he fights Golota, hoping Golota will KO his ass
Hurlex 11-02-2004, 01:34 AM yeah see what i speaxk is true...hella ppl will tune in to him fighting golata and if he wins...he'll fight another good fighter and everyone will tune in again hoping he loses lol
neils7147933 11-02-2004, 04:48 AM Those guys in 95 didn't have too many successful defenses. Ruiz and Byrd have had and Vitali probably will. I wonder who the WBO champ was in 1995. I'm guessing Tommy Morrison or Oliver McCall...
GxBrak 11-02-2004, 08:38 AM when you look at it that way the current situation doesn't seem so bad.

I checked it. It was worse than I thought. It was Herbie Hide!
markosg19 11-02-2004, 09:01 AM when it comes to comaparing the champions there is no contest, 95 is much worse however, the divison back then had lewis, bowe, tyson, holyfield and even moorer. All in decent form. For this reason i believe that the heavyweight picture on whole was in much better condition back then. But yes the champions are better now. Frank bruno..........a classic example of how britain loves a good loser!
realheavyhands 11-02-2004, 09:06 AM too close ..cuz seldon and bruno was beasts... what they lacked in ruiz and bryd skills they made up for in size and conditioning..6'3 247 and 6'1 233 and both were chizzled.. but white buffalo suck

Dude.....You need to get out of the boxing forums & into another one for BODY BUILDERS.
Who cares if Seldon & Bruno were chiseled ? They were both FRAGILE.
What the hell does the way their bodies looked have to do with anything ?

I'm 35 years old, buddy.
I'm telling you now, your obsession with weightlifting is gonna make your "pro" career a disastrous one.
You're gonna be too busy worrying about muscles sticking out of your thighs, while some other dude is busy working on HOW TO FIGHT, & his BOXING endurance.
bigtex 11-02-2004, 10:54 AM that 95 class has to be the worse
realheavyhands 11-02-2004, 12:05 PM we'll see homie i only be liftin 1 and a half days a week .. i got this down to a science i can close grip 350 incline 250 for 10 and run for and hour sraight if i had to..27 inch thighs and only lift 1 to 2 days per week.. the rest bag work sparring shodow boxin..
Impala70 11-20-2004, 08:15 PM Byrd and Klitshko would whip the sorry class of 1995 thank you holyfield, and tyson for dispersing of those guys.
The Fix 11-20-2004, 10:25 PM 95 is laughable. we think we have it rough right now ,damn it was pathetic in 95. hopefully though we can have some good prospects like in 95 so it doesnt get worse.
Who cares about those stupid alphabet titles?
Unlike today where there is no true world champion, back then we had one universally recognized world heavyweight champion by the name of George Foreman. For that reason alone, 1995 had the better champion.
cmason 12-09-2004, 09:27 AM botha, seldon and bruno? first one zero talent, last two like rabbits in a cars headlights!!
95 was worse, all of the fighters today ...theyre not bad theyre just not that entertaining escpecially ruiz lol

Except for the fact that Foreman didn't have a major belt when all of those three had belts in 1995.
Great 12-10-2004, 07:31 PM Bruce Seldon maybe.
foremanfan 12-10-2004, 07:34 PM Except for the fact that Foreman didn't have a major belt when all of those three had belts in 1995.
He was recognised as the Ring magazines Heavyweight Champion though. I thought that meant something to you.

I totally agree with you based on the fighters listed.

Very well said.
sssse 12-10-2004, 08:02 PM 95 was worse
DarthJul 12-10-2004, 08:37 PM 95 in every division are worse, certainly the WBC. Vitaly would easily beat bruno, ruiz would outfox seldon and Byrd is a way too smart boxer to lose to Botha

No not really, but he was the linear champ which does mean something to me, but then again the fact that Foreman ducked Axel Schulz really hurts him.

Well George was hunting that Tyson fight at that time and I guess he didn't want to risk losing the title in the rematch. However I think it's really out of order when a boxing organisation puts the judges in and then when they think that there judges didn't do the right thing they then expect the fighter to have to do it all over again. I say **** them they got the judges live with the pick.
