View Full Version : How bad are diet cokes
SOY-COMO-SOY 07-27-2008, 07:33 PM I know they're a lil better than regular cokes. But i dont know how bad they actually are. But i have a 12oz can of Diet Dr.Pepper like everyday. I limit myself to one a day, but some days i dont even have one. Most of the time i drink em its cuz im at home and i want something to drink but dont want water. When i go out to eat i drink nothing but water and i usually drink like 3 big cups full. When i workout i drink alot of water too.
Im trying to loose 15-10 lbs so im probably gonna give diet cokes up.

ejenki 07-27-2008, 08:05 PM You might want to do some research on aspartame. It has a surprising amount of side effects on the body.

Some reaserch have shown that aspartame may be related to Multiple sclerosis. While i don't know if its true, i do know that my mother has had multiple sclerosis for a couple years, and she drank diet coke/pepsi for the longest time.
As for myself i don't drink cola or any kind of soft drinks, with all the chemicals and artificial sugars in there they can only be bad for you. I drink water and juice.
yrrej 07-28-2008, 12:05 AM Aspartame is phenylalanine, an essential amino acid. No serious side effects have ever been linked to its use in spite of hundreds of expensive studies. The problem with Coca Cola is the phosphoric acid, which is said to leach calcium from the bones. In any case, everything in moderation. If your are working out really hard and losing a lot of fluid, Diet Coke is much better than regular Coke, although you said you are actually drinking Diet Dr. Pepper, which is a different drink with similar properties....
Zhaakal 07-28-2008, 10:38 AM I drink like 2 litres of CC Zero every day... I wanna give it up but i ****ing can't, it's like a drug, i'm addicted. EVERY single day i say to myself that no more ZERO for me but at the end of the day i'm still sippin it.
mspiegelo 07-28-2008, 11:03 AM they used to use cola to clean bumpers... **** is horrible for your body. that being said... the guy who said diet is much better than regular is right... at least you won't be wolfin down loads of sugar... better to stick to water. i used to drink a lot of regular pepsi before i started training. i now drink seltzer or perrier...

me too man, I used to drink regular Coke like a maniac and switched to Zero to lose weight. Now I love Zero and cannot even drink a regular Coke anymore cause it tastes like a Syrup Bomb.
nedcmk1 07-28-2008, 04:54 PM Do you have teeth?
Hitman932 07-28-2008, 04:55 PM Do you have teeth?
I would say I too drink about 2 liters of Coke Zero everyday. I used to do the same with Regular Coke.
I have never had a cavity in my life.
Zhaakal 07-28-2008, 05:27 PM Do you have teeth?

Fernando Torres 07-29-2008, 03:25 AM I read an article once saying they make you more hungry. I hate fizz but if you can;t live without they are muhc better than normal cokes, not little bit better. Mainly because of the kal count and white sugar just ****s up any diet!
laurinsane8 07-29-2008, 09:04 AM The thing with Diet Sodas is that they use artificial sugar. So basically your body can't digest it, but your body still reacts to it like regular sugar by releasing insulin. So what happens with diet sodas is that they actually make the body store more sugar.
They've been doing a lot of studies recently with diet sodas and found it actually makes you gain weight. So if you can stay away from soda that's best.
If you do alot of road running don't drink Diet Coke. The aspartame in it can lead to things like Osgood-Schlatter disease and other bone-related side effects.

**** like this is always found out about fake foods. If you are serious about gym then eat natural foods.
Oriachim 07-29-2008, 03:33 PM i'm addicted to fizzy drinks to, I used to drink a lot more of them, like 6 cans a day but now i drink much less, sometimes no cans. i'm also addicted to sweets, like mars bars etc.
my friends and trainers tell me off for eating my own body weight in sweets, saying if i'm serious about this blabla bla, but what can I say? "I can't man! I'm addicted! Waaah!" :(
lanigav 07-29-2008, 04:09 PM Tyson drinks them, they are good for you!

J_CON 07-29-2008, 05:36 PM having one a day wont hurt you
sukhenkoy 07-29-2008, 06:54 PM having one a day wont hurt you
Won't help you either.
nedcmk1 07-30-2008, 09:59 AM switch to flavored seltzer water
sukhenkoy 07-30-2008, 11:22 AM Just drink plain water. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but your body will thank you for it in the future.
