Can't remember exactly.. But a book written by Jack Dempsey looked awesome. I was recommended it along with just a few quotes and it seemed incredible. Not sure exactly what it was called but the bit I read talked about power in fights, I'll try and hit you up because you just made me want to read it aswell. :P

i'm just in the middle of reading a biography on Ali and it goes pretty in depth with his life and career. it's called "King of the World." you get a real good perception of his attitude and his personality. it also goes into detail with sonny liston and flyod patterson.

I believe JF91 was referring to Jack Dempsey's Championship Fighting: Explosive Punching and Aggressive Defense, published in 1950.

Imo, that is a must read for all boxing fans. Old it may be, it is still extremely insightful and relevant. This book introduced to me the concept of the "power line", which I totally suscribe to. Excellent read!!

I read a whole lot and the best boxing book I have ever read is Johnny Tapia - Mi Vida Loca.

Depends whether you are after a more technical book or more of a story type read. I would definitely check out 'In the Corner: Great Boxing Trainers...etc etc'. It's a fantastic read from the other view outside the ring with some great guys in it.

Many interesting books out there. That list mentioned above would be a good place to start.

I really enjoyed the book "Atlas", Teddy's autobiography. It talks in detail about his time training Tyson and Moorer. I really recommend it.

Picked up Inside the Ropes by Arthur Mercante today. Looks pretty good, but haven't really started reading yet.

Details his experiences as a boxing referee. Talks about fighters like Sugar Ray Leonard, Ali, Dempsey, Hagler, Foreman. He refereed the Ali Frazier fight.

The only ones I can recommend are visual books.
I have Ken Regan's "Knockout" and it's AWESOME. Huge mother f*cker to carry, but it's a great detailed and large scaled book.
"An Illustrated History of Boxing" by Nat Fleischer is fantastic. Such rare images...the only downfall is they're all in black and white.
"Goat: Tribute to Mohamed Ali" is absolutely massive.
"Fight" Philippe di Folco is another illustrated volume that describes the art of combat in all areas.
"Boxing: An Illustrated History of the Fight Game by Peter Brooke-Ball is the one I'd recommend the most. Includes illutrated biographies of the champions and more than 100 epic encounters in detail.
A more recent is "The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Boxing" by Harry Mullan and Bob Mee.

Four Kings by George Kimball is really good. All about SRL, Hearns, Hagler and Duran. Really good interesting read.

Muhammed Ali: Life and Times by Thomas Hauser is good. Really detailed and well written with funny Juxtaposition(?). Could be hard going though if your not a massive reader.

For training I like
Workouts From Boxings greatest champs by Gary Todd. It only details fighters training routines but is good to read as it provides you with some good ideas and training tips.

Hope that helps
