According to IFL senior vice president of communications Joe Favorito, the team-based MMA promotion will turn out the lights July 31 as its assets are sold to a yet-to-be-named buyer, confirmed today by several anonymous sources as the UFC ownership group Zuffa LLC….The buyout, which will mirror Zuffa’s takeover and subsequent closure of the now defunct WFA and PRIDE FC organizations in 2007 will see the UFC and WEC’s parent company take control of the rights to current IFL contracts as well as the promotion’s video library.

Anthony Johnson To Appeal TKO Loss To Kevin Burns
“I’m going to appeal it and my agent, Ken Pavia, is going to appeal it and Dana thought it was bull**** whether it was unintentional or not. I don’t think the UFC wants fights to end that way.
As soon as the fight was over with, the UFC doctor and everyone was begging me to go to doctor. They checked me out and wanted to make sure I was okay so I followed up with a visit.
I was pretty disappointed in the TKO call. Burns was a test and they put a decent grappler against a decent striker and I think I held my own because he never came close to pulling off a submission on me. Everyone knows what type of person I am and this won’t set me back.
Right now, we just want to get this whole situation taken care of in the right way, but I would love a rematch.”
Anthony Johnson tells FightHype.com that he plans to appeal his TKO loss to Kevin Burns at UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19th. The main card fight was stopped in the third round after Burns accidentally poked Johnson in the eye and Johnson fell to the ground in pain. The fight was waved off and ruled a TKO, however, as the referee failed to see the eye poke and instead thought Johnson was knocked to the ground with what replays showed was a missed uppercut.

Mark Coleman vs Shogun Rua in the works???
As if putting Mark Coleman in the ring with Brock Lesnar wasn’t blurring the line between matchmaking and manslaughter, now it looks like Mark might be facing off against Shogun Rua:
“I might face Mark Coleman on December, but nothing has been signed yet. He wanted to face me on November, and I really want to face him,” Rua told Tatame magazine.
“I hope this time he doesn’t run from me. He said no to me a couple of times, but I believe now it will happen.”
The last time the two faced off, Shogun broke his arm backwards by posting it during a takedown.

“We’ll end up to an agreement I’m sure,” St. Pierre said. “I like the UFC, I’m glad I’m champion, I want to represent the sport and also the UFC well.”
“The UFC, that’s what made me known and if possible I want to retire there.”
