View Full Version : Who should Cory Spinks fight next?
ChrististheAnswer 11-01-2004, 04:29 PM I think that Cory should give Judah a rematch, its the biggest fight in the welterweight division that can be made. Or maybe he could give Kermit Cintron a shot, after Kermit gets done with his upcoming fight.
So what do you think?
borikua 11-01-2004, 04:41 PM Go down and fight Floyd...
WillieW 11-01-2004, 04:41 PM I think Spinks is obligated by contract to give Juda a rematch. I have a feeling Spinks may end up winning the rematch.
Lots going on in this division right now.
If Cintron...and I meen if...gets past Margarito he should fight Spinks next if he is still King of 147lbs.
If Spinks and Cintron mix it up, its hard to say who would win. Puncher versus boxer.
If Spinks loses to Juda....Cintron will own 147lbs next year if he wins against Margarito.
If Cintron gets beat by Margarito.....I think Margarito will own 147lbs. He has the right style for Juda and Spinks.
Good year this division. Sorry, I got a bit off topic.
ChrististheAnswer 11-01-2004, 07:25 PM Go down and fight Floyd...
That would be an interesting matchup but I would defenitely give the nod to PBF to win.If I were Cory I would defend my welterweight title a few more times and then try to go get the big bucks.
neils7147933 11-01-2004, 07:34 PM He should give Judah a rematch. The fight was so close - but maybe he doesn't want Zab again. He doesn't need to go up in weight, as he's flirted with a Trinidad fight.
It depends - if he's interested in high profile, bigger audience fights he rematches Mayorga and/or Judah. Or he fights Floyd Mayweather at 147.
Other possible opponents: Top-ranked Carlos Baldomir, Thomas Damgaard, Cosme Rivera. Or Jose Rivera, the WBA "champ" (Spinks is super-champ). Or Kermit Cintron.
There's lots of options right now.
Sir_Jose 11-01-2004, 07:37 PM I think Judah all the way
The Fix 11-01-2004, 07:39 PM i say he should fight judah good close first fight and i finnally see judah winnin a big match. if not judah he should fight vernon forrest. IMO forrest is still amongst the elite and would be a huge test for spinks, a test i see spinks failing.

Forrest has said he can't get down to 147 anymore. His next fight will be at 154.

Yes I think that Spinks should give Judah a rematch. However I think Spinks would eek out a victory against Forrest.

oh i didnt catch that. spinks though might be able to meet him at a higher weight
The Fix 11-01-2004, 07:50 PM Yes I think that Spinks should give Judah a rematch. However I think Spinks would eek out a victory against Forrest.
i think forrest stops spinks. spinks though is a very respectable fighter so at the time of the stoppage the fight will be pretty tight.

That is defeintely a plausible outcome, however I'm gonna have to see what Vernon looks like now before I make a prediction. The Vernon that beat Mosely will give Spinks all he can handle.
Kimmy 11-01-2004, 09:53 PM I think Spinks has got a great chin though and he seems to be able to rise his game in fights. Also, Spinks has underrated speed that might upset Forrest. i know Mosley was fast but Spinks is bigger and he boxes very good when he is in the mood!
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 11-01-2004, 09:55 PM he should fight Margarito.

i agree with everything you just said.

Remember, Mayorga was the puncher before,
Judah vs Spinks is "THE" fight at 147 and it will be on by january 22nd mark my words.
Glad to see people shooting down the Trinidad fight though, (THANK GOD)
GasPed 11-01-2004, 11:48 PM I don't think he should fight Judah - even if it's big money, it's a very high risk fight for him. Judah (shaky chin and all) was never hurt by Spinks last time, and with his power and hand speed, Spinks would be playing with fire.
He might want to move up and try Mosely (assuming Shane's still around and marketable), cuz he could win that fight. And I actually think he'd have a good shot at beating Mayweather too when/if he comes up.
bigtex 11-01-2004, 11:53 PM spinks vs. spaddy.
phallus 11-01-2004, 11:55 PM Judah the second time around could be a real tough fight for Spinks, i think he should wait for Mayweather
Hurlex 11-02-2004, 01:04 AM judah all the way also..or maybe..some of u will call me crazy for this but...
since he wants to move up so bad...i say let him fight the winner of winky/mosley..i think it would be a good fight...mosley and winky have not faced a fast boxer with a good boxing ability..so why not :) :D
FistoftheDallasStar 11-02-2004, 01:53 AM Either Judah or Forrest would be a great match but I would like to see Vernon get a title shot first. He is not as slick as Judah but might equal out a fight with Spinks by height and power. Spinks has adapted well to his last few opponents and I would like to see how he responds to Vernon's style. Plus Vernon desperately needs a win and would give it his all. Drama usually adds to an already good matchup and sometimes makes a great fight.
MikeHunt 11-02-2004, 04:20 AM What about Gatti?
Gatti? Cory Spinks would run rings around him and box him silly all night. Same way, PBF would do to him.
Spinks should give Judah a rematch, the 1st fight was close. I reckon Zab can adjust and win this time. The SpinksJinx will make Cintron & Margarito look bad though.
bigtex 11-02-2004, 12:14 PM cintron would be a good one too.
Knicksman20 11-02-2004, 02:17 PM Spinks has unfinished business with Zab. That fight could've went either way. I don't he'll fight Zab. Like someone said, high risk with that fight & if Zab comes motivated, ( which I think he will for that fight) he'll stop him.
hexman 11-02-2004, 03:11 PM judah, because judah won the first fight
There is no doubt that Judah deserves a rematch however here is the fight that should happen...Tszyu vs. Spinks. Think about it, if KT beats up on Sharmba for the second time he should go to 147 knock spinks out and retire, undisputed champ at 140/147, its a perfect scenario. Kt is way to good offensively for Spinks, he won't wait around like Zab did he will go straight at him and will have zero to worry about in return even though he is moving up, Spinks can't hurt him and can't avoid him.
Truth 11-02-2004, 04:28 PM Judah vs. Spinks II is the fight I want to see happen.
