I just notice way too many things in the forums lately that bother the hell out of me.

1. Before posting a thread, check the forum to see if the topic has already been covered. There shouldnt be 6 Tszyu vs. Mitchell threads for exapmle, running wild at the same time. I waste too much time merging all of them.

2. Post threads in the proper boards, tired of moving downloads, fantasy and lounge topics from the non-stop boxing board.

3. Dont spam the board with multiple threads, some users are starting 5-6 threads at a time in the same board. While I appreciate that these users are trying to contribute to the board, it does nothing but make the board look bad when half of their posts end up with no replies. Spread topics out throughout the board and give your threads a chance to replies before posting new threads.

4. Make posts with some meaning, there have been some real garbage posts as of late.

5. Stick to the topic, dont come into threads starting problems with someone you have a beef with. If you have a problem with a user, take it up with them in the lounge or by private message. Dont rush into every thread they are involved in to rehash your prior war of words, all you do is make more enemies and make a thread to go ****. Several users have been banned from here due to constantly doing this.

BTW: Some mods will be put in place on these forums, right now I'm figuring out who are the most level headed people for the task.

lol altho i dont start alot of threads mine usually dont get many if any replies
altho im not tryin to make threads just to make them

If they are spread throughout the forum its one thing, when they are made back to back, its pretty obvious that some of them will end up with no responses.

Hopefully people listen to these guidelines. The multiple thread **** sucks...now there are 8 different threads about Hopkins, and its better to just have one bigger discussion rather than a bunch of meaningless ones. More and more people posting simply for the downloads every day...

Sorry, guys, for starting another Hopkins thread. There were a lot of bizarre Hopkins threads last week and I was looking for a straight answer to my question. Still, I'll try to follow the guidelines better.

Thats what I initially thought, but the people who are offenders of the above, are way beyond the downloads level of posts. It's easier to reply to posts then to create new threads to get your post number up. I think it may be case of people trying to rack up points to buy items in the shop or people trying to get points back that others stole from them.

I dont have a problem with multiple Hopkins threads if they deal with different topics having to do with Hopkins. When there are several Hopkins threads dealing with the same subject, then it becomes a problem.

I bumped a Tzysu/Mitchell thread up from a couple weeks ago looking to get a tally of everyones thoughts on the fight, It was the only one I noticed. So that was me, I must have missed the more recent Tzysu/Mitchell threads while I was going through.

Yeah I have noticed there was alot of multiple topics and threads started just to make fun and hate on certain fighters.

The multiple threads dont bother me nearly as much as the unnecessary insults; and what you said about jumping on a thread, in the middle of a discussion and/or debate just to attack someone over the same old issues has gotten way out of hand. Good posting advice.....let's hope it helps! ;)

Could one program the threads, that receive less than say 10 replies in say 3 days, to expire automatically?

That would clear out a lot of space.


(Also, giving negative points for threads like that would be good ;) )

that would help, i hate when people bring up threads, especially when they expire months ago, or weeks ago, i hate that

The old popular threads are not a problem, in my view.

The many new unpopular threads seems to be more of a problem!

good stuff - this guy makes a new thread everytime a thought pops in his head, and 2/3 of the time even without a thought.

I don't want Sweet Dick Willy as the moderator; he's too fun on the boards. A few less silly insults, and he'd be one of the guys to look up to on the board - someone with boxing knowledge, who is able to contribute intelligently to topics in the lounge, is on about every day...

Maybe someone who registers, types a bunch of inane crap and then is inactive for months should have their stuff all erased and profile erased, too. There's too many users with less than 10 or 20 posts who just go away...

I actually do miss the "Clean Cut Boxing" forum a lot. Few people have been posting there but most of the discussion were founded on knowledge and respect towards the other opinion. Maybe you could bring that one back Rick?

well they shouldnt be deleted but be locked so no one can post on them but you can view them, some threads just need to be close

He has to do that in order to feel better about himself. It doesnt bother me anymore cause he has no credibility at all; he makes sure of that with everything he posts :rolleyes:
