and then Dana White flies down from Vegas right away to immediatley personally post bail for him...

somethin's not right. i'd hate to think this is a publicity stunt because i've always respected Rampage but this just came outta ****in nowhere.

well they DIDN'T mention alcohol (which they would have if it was involved) but they did mention him being on the cell phone.

This will set his career back for a while, may end up finishing him off

i dont think something this small can finsish someones career off.
sometimes people just fly off the handle. doesnt sound like drugs or alcohol were involved. he did mention he had an anger problem before.

This sucks man! Rampage is a cool guy. I'm sure he's still pissed off about losing to Griffin. He should have gotten the nod IMO. I'm curious to know what really happened.

I agree...Jackson was the type of guy to tell whats on his mind...A very well respectable guy! He a down to earth type of person...I too want to know the whole story behind this...There's something going on here and its going to hit the fan soon hopefully!

I really hope that he wasn't drunk or ****ed up on something. That would be very bad for his career and Dana White might kick him out of the UFC.

Hopefully we will be updated soon....

I think what is more worrying than the arrest and charges themselves, is the state of mind Rampage has been in that has caused this. There's a video interview of him on TMZ the day before this happened, and he didn't seem right at all.

Technically, his career can survive this, he'll stay in the UFC and get fights, but if he's had some sort of mental break, that could be much more troubling.

Trust me, this will set him back.

Other people will jump in line for title shots before him and he will have to work his way back up the ladder. He wont be in line for a shot at the title any time soon.

Sad news indeed. Rampage is a great character and a great fighter and I hope this doesn't signal the end or even a downward slide in his career but the most important thing is that any personal problems or issues he has are dealt with fully and I wish him all the best.

From Mike Chiapetta at NBCSports

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was admitted to a hospital on Wednesday for a mental health evaluation following an incident in which he was exhibiting "unusual behavior," Irvine, Calif., police Lt. Rick Handfield told NBCSports.com on Thursday.

This incident came on the heels of Tuesday's arrest following a car chase in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Handfield said that a passing officer was flagged down on a city street at about 4:30 pm on Wednesday, and one of the people at the residence who was an acquaintance or relative of his told police they were "concerned about some alarming statements and unusual behavior he was exhibiting."

The responding officer spoke to Jackson, who was cooperative, and officers detained him and transported him to a local hospital for a mental evaluation.

Handfield said Jackson is not being charged with any crime, and was considered a "mental health detainment."

Jackson's present status is unclear, as California's HIPAA laws guarding medical privacy preclude police from giving any further information.

UFC did not immediately return calls for comment.

Thanks man. So he's not getting charged with felony evading anymore?

Actually, I think he's referring to the second pick-up not resluting in any charges. It seems that he was charged, released, and then picked up (but not charged) a second time due to erratic behavior.
