i think unless royce seriously works on his striking he won't be able to handle alot of these guys now days

Well obviouslky he needs to improve his striking, but more importantly he needs to work on his takedowns, if he can get em down his BJJ skills are great enough for him to beat many.

well he had the interview today in DC, apparently he talked about his old fights in the UFC, explained how MMA has evolved as a sport, talked about the difference between UFC and Pride, and when asked about a possible UFC comeback he simply said 'we'll see'.

Its looking good for Hughes vs Royce folks!

Hughes vs. Royce would be a great fight! I think that there styles match up very well. Hughes probably has the edge, but i could also see royce triangling him ala Dan Severn.

I hope you mean Fred Hughes the store clerk and not Matt Hughes the guy who would beat him to death

Exactly blue dawg many people are giving royce no chance in this kinof fight, but ya gotta remember hughes usally wins cos of his freaskish strength, but he is still no where near as strong as the likes of shamrock and severn when they were in their prime, so it may make it a different kinda fight. If Hallman can tap him, Royce can.

Royce can definitely catch Hughes in a sub, if given the chance. But Royce hasn't been in a vale tudo fight for quite some time. The inactivity might cost him.

Like I said, I give the edge to hughes, but I don't think that Royce subbing Matt is inconcievable. Anyway, I think Fred Hughes is very under rated as well and would have a good chance against Matt or Royce if he could keep it standing on aisle 6....

Wow that would be a great fight. I'd love to see it. I'll be rooting for Hughes if it happens.

I've also heard UFC 45 will be on PPV in the UK so I might actually get to see this one....

They don't always show UFC on PPV over in the UK? That sucks...

i dont care to see any gracie fight anymore. it really doesnt mean as much as it used to. its like announcing that tank is gonna fight. why dont we just bring out dan "the beast" severn while we're at it. ****, maybe we can even bring out oleg and match him up with belfort! oh yea, baby... the fight of the century!!!!1

hearing about a gracies is about as breath taking as it is to hear about eddie ruiz.

They just want to bring out all the legends to beef up the status of their current fighters by having their current fighters abuse the ones who made the sport.

Hahahaha yeah man. I see now. I think I'd do the same if I were in your position. Hopefully if I get stationed in Japan they'll show them. If not I'll just have to go to Pride and K-1 events when they come.

LOL the chances of me seeing a pride event are even slimer then a UFC event here on this cold cold ****ing rock.

Huges will dominate...

Hallman has an EXPLODSIVE submission style that is GREAT against hugh's sloppy takedowns....

Royce needs to set up his subs...Huges aint going to let that happen

Hugh's by TKO in the 3rd

Pshh dude ya can't even compare the sheer level of difference between Royces BJJ level with the likes of Hallman

Hell, Royce would tapp hallman if they fought MMA

But Hallman STYLE is waaaaay better against hughes than Royce's...

Also, Royce will have to fight NO GI...Gi is illegal in the UFC

I'm pretty sure that if this fight happens it will be under "special rules" that'll allow Royce to wear a Gi.

IMO Hughes would Win ..If he wants to win all Matt needs to do is keep it standing and Box Royce from there

If hes smart that what he'll do but then I have found Team MFS members dont alwyas do whats best for themselves to win (eg Pulver trying to stand with Bang.)

I would just laugh my ass off watching royce trying to take Matt Hughes down.

Ensanity, what do you mean by Matt having sloppy takedowns? Hughes, lindland, and Coutore have the best textbook takedowns in MMA

I wonder WHY a gi would be illegal, it seems more of a disadvantage to the wearer.

Royce might be able to keep it on the ground if he can pull guard a treat.....besides I got a feeling Hughes would take him down and go for GnP anyways.
