Andre 3000 and Big Boi... Outkast.

I've always been a big fan of these dope mc's work but tonight it hit me like a ton of bricks... I re bought Idlewild today and have been playing it all day. Maybe I didn't have the time when it first dropped but I never gave it a proper full blown listen. After enjoying the record, I honestly have to say Outkast is by far the most consistent group in the history of hip hop. Call it a bold statement but check the resume..

Each of those albums are the definition of dopeness. They bring such a fresh and creative sound to each record. Please everyone do yourself a huge favor and re bump any of all of these albums.

That's cool, Guru and Premier just happen to be the best in my book. These two completely define East Coast hip hop, one of the most influential groups in the rap game.

EPMD are up there as well, personally I'd vote OutKast.

Gangstarr is dope and I understand your reason .. myself being from the east coast but Outkast is creatively on a different level. I mean just listen to each of their albums, its a scary brilliant transition between each one. They define a complete artist and they are two of the dopest mc's to ever walk the planet. It's rare that a group can have underground and mainstream success at the level they have. They truly are fantastic...

I Love UGK and 8ball and MJG, just think Outkast is a notch ahead.

I think Outkast is probably the greatest duo too. Eric B and Rakim are true pioneers, and special mentions to Gangstarr, Pete Rock & CL Smooth and EPMD, but Outkast overall have shown consistency for more then a decade.

Their catalogue is truly outstanding. I'm not their biggest fan, but to dismiss them is a joke.

Definately, i think however that it is always tricky to try to evaluate Hip Hop artists on longevity when you also include old school artists (80's artists). Ever notice that there are a whole lot more new School artists with Longevity than Old School artists? Infact I can only think of one example of the second instance and he does it by selling to chicks lol. There is a very good reason for this, it isn't just because all those new school artists are better. It is because the character of Hip Hop in general changed so drastically from the Old School that it was almost impossible to remain completely relevant from that period to the new School period. On the other hand, Hip Hop hasn't really changed in it's essence in the last 15 years. It is easy to stay on your game when the game stays the same. Asking an artist from 1986 to be able to remain relevant in 1996 is actually to ask more of him than you ask of an artist that you tell to remain relevant from 94 to 04.
