Just heard on Setanta that the former Valencia legend who won them La Liga twice is after their star striker, David Villa. Also, LFC chief scout Eduardo Macia nurtured Daniel Silva as a youth and has been in touch with him. Thsi would mean LFC's Euro winners tally would go from 4 to 6 ie. LFC definitely won the Euro's!

Torres delviered on the biggest stage and didn't bottle it like the overrated Roni who padded his record with pens. In his first season Torres scored the most league goals from open play as he took no easy peasy set peices. All I can see is him getting better. If we get Villa they link up beautifully and Silva would be the icing on the cake. All this with the fact that Barry looks like a done deal, means only one thing: LFc will stay the best and will always be in front in the trophy tallies!

Hail Rafa for bringing the glory days back! Took 10 months to acheive what chequebook managers from Scotland take 13 years to acheive! He is definitely the best manager in the world and we will win the treble or maybe even the quad. Discuss.

A few points;

1. No it wouldn't.

2. You have to actually earn penalties pal, you know by being in potential scoring situations in most cases anyway. Who's to say if they didn't get the penalties and weren't foulded he wouldn't have went on to score.

Free kicks aint easy peasy.

3. You can't afford Silva and Villa. You're been total tight arses over the barry transfer as it is. And if you sign all these players you're going to have too much. Is SIlva a AMC? you already have; Masch , Lucas, Xabi, Gerrard, Barry, Silva?!

Stay the best? You aren't the best. You can't win the domestic division, therefore aren't the best. It could change this season though.

4. You mean spendings lots of money.

5. So the best manager frequently comes 4th in the league? And so much so you wanted to replace him not long ago.

Love your enthusiasm mate but lets not get carried away. Benitez is a good manager and anyone who says different knows nothing about football however the game has changed and success is measured against trophies and money. So far he has done OK with winning 3 trophies and keeping us in the CL but lets not forget that we were 11 points from the top and 20 points the season before. Therefore we are way away still from our objective.

Villa would be a dream signing but its only speculation, of course Benitez wants him, so do lots of teams, have Liverpool even made an offer? I dont think so.

We certainly couldn't get Villa and Silva so.......

As for the Barry saga, I dont think its about the money so much as the principle, Liverpool belive Barry is worth around 15m, Villa think 18m so....

BTW we have won 5 European Cups mate.

Villa has already come out and said he is staying put so thats an end to that right there, as for Gareth Barry, well even tho im a Villa fan i think 18m is excessive tbh, BUT when you compare him as a player with the likes of Carrick and Hargreaves who cost similar amounts of money it puts the cost into perspective.

Why would he want to go to Scumpool, unless he wants his house turned over.
Backward step he goes there, both personally and professionally.

He should join Newcastle Utd.

And when wa sthe last time Valencia won 5 Champions Leagues? Don't be jealous because we are the best team in the world and had to be banned for 6 years in order to prevent us surpassing Real's dodgy 1950's tally.

From the ashes rose a Phoenix, tamed by Rafa who will repeat what Paisley did all over again!

As for us being too tight fisted, well the Torres and Mascherano deals still came through. Some people here know **** all about football. He is saying it in public because it is on the cards and we do have the funs. If DIC come then it is all over. Even if they don't, the glory days are back. Rafa is the best manager in the history of sport. Even better than Angelo Dundee!

p.s. He won the Champions League in 10 months with no major signings.

Read Phil Tomkins' article on the Liverpool Site about the Villa interest, he makes some valid points saying that Villa isn't necessary. I very much agree!

And don't go saying we're gonna win the league and **** like that, it is going to be very hard and I'll be happy if we're around the top of the table come may.

Rafa us a oure winner and I am sure we will win something. To be honest, we don't need Villa but the other people who don't need players buy them and they win ****. I think we really need to get him or Silva to make the firepower completely unstoppable. He can score and provide, so Villa and Torres telopathic partnership would be deadly. We won't need Barru but he is a quality addition. Need is replaced by want in the race for the title. I think if we get either of the Spaniards from Valencia, they will automatically fit in with the style of play and it would be hugely beneficial to the team. Villa or Silva, I do not mind but we defo need one of them too. Personally myself I would go for Silva, because let's face it Jermaine Pennant is **** and Yosi goes missing at times when his predecessor Garcia would come good (ie. big games).
