Kobe Bryant 07-07-2008, 03:11 PM 30k for thr first week? Hell no. Fat Joe sold more in his first week.

el malo 07-08-2008, 08:14 AM wow fat joe out sold g-unit? wow
Kobe Bryant 07-08-2008, 09:54 AM Not sure if those numbers are correct. But 100K wouldn't surprise me. No one really knew the album was coming out. And there singles haven't been poppin. Regardless I enjoyed the album and have been playin it since it leaked. Everyone has their run in hip hop and G-Unit struck while the iron was hot. 50 will probably still be able to sell a mil as a solo. But as far as the unit their run has peaked.

i agree with everything you said up until this point lol, if him and his group cant sell 100k first week... a million is out of the question.

How is it out of the question? Curtis sold almost 700k in its first week. And went plat in a month and a half. People aren't checkin for group albums. Why as a consumer would I buy the G-Unit album? When I know 50 is gonna drop a solo later in the year. That's how people think. No one checks for posse albums. It's a waste. 50 is gonna promote his album a lot harder than he does this g unit ****. He knows records arent selling. Thats why he's done away with shelling out big bucks for top name producers.
Thats like the Jay and R. Kelly's album it sold like a mil. But at that time it was a failure. I sure as hell wouldn't buy Best of Both Worlds over Roc La Familia.

Lean On Me 07-08-2008, 11:55 PM Do these sales numbers have any relevance on whether you'll like the album yourself?

Ive said it a number of times... its a weak album. Couple bangers, straight out of southside **** i got that song in the whip right now im not even gonna front. Strong production all throughout, but G unit is not hungry anymore plain and simple. I dont hear the passion in any of there songs anymore what so ever.
I think Lloyd is the most talented of the three, songs like "When the chips are down" "work magic" "til the end" .... The hunger for more, he sounded just that... HUNGRY. You can bet your ass i copped that album back then.
Money changed these dudes, there music now... as opposed to 2004-2005, isnt half of what it used to be. Period.
Kobe Bryant 07-09-2008, 12:34 PM It's official the Unit is dead. 100k is uggghh. They sold 300k in their debut of 03. They'll be lucky to get that as a total. They should have pushed hard to drop on the same day as Game. They could have picked up an extra hundred thousand.
I see 50 was smart to drop on the same day as Ye. It helped him out a lot with sales becuase the whole set up to the album was a disaster having five singles. Banks will never drop an album again.

You're not understanding.
Does the amount of sales matter in your enjoyment of an album?
There are classics upon classics in Hiphop that sold diddly squat but have more relevance to Hiphop history than most platinum albums.

lol my man of course i understand that ... some of the best in the game arent selling ****... your preaching to the choir, but thats not what i think i said pretty clearly i think its a weak album.
I wasn't really feelin da album either. Only some songs like Straight Outta Southside, No Days Off, Piano Man, and maybe 1 or 2 more. Like dat other guy sed dey not hungry no more. Their lyrics is real weak on this.
**** I liked Sabrina's Baby Boy more than TOS. SBB had Southside, Smile, Coke Life, and others. Ni99as around here(South Jamaica) playin it but I don't like it.
Nas' album ****s on it in every fashion.

So why even talk about sales?
Why not talk about the content of the album on how it could have been better?
Do some of you cats get a joy because an album doesn't sell well?
I don't know, maybe your generation focuses solely on the money aspect.
I guess I'll never understand what the infatuation with sales numbers is.

lol my man you obviously dont really know my perspective on hip hop, because i see alot more in an album then just how many copies it sells. Super gangster was one of my favorite albums of 2007 if not my favorite, it only sold 25,000 its first week....
And ive been speaking on the terminate on site album for some time now, so i dont know how much youve been on the hip hop forum, i have alot of posts on why i feel the way i do about TOS lol.
And to answer your other question yes i do somewhat get a joy of g unit not selling well because they mis represented the rap game for a long time now, i think its good to see that they have fallen off because there music has been sub par for some time now.
Killa Cam 07-10-2008, 12:47 AM I guess I'll never understand what the infatuation with sales numbers is.
i guess ill never understand people's infactuation with other people's infactuation of looking at album sales. (serious question) does th4l3pr3ch4un and others talking about album sales by an individual you dont even know affect you in some way?

No, you tard, I'm just trying to get a grasp on todays generation and its infatuation with anything numbers related as if numbers somehow dictate your enjoyment of an album or a fight.

Thats fine. I was just curious as to why. I've been on various sites and its always talk about the sales figures. Its just something that I, or anyone I know is really not concerned about is all. Just trying to gain some insight on the sales talk perspective is all.
I could see why a financial manager would be interested, but as a fan of music and boxing, its totally irrelevant to my enjoyment of either. I'm not getting any of it, rather as a paying customer I'm putting into it.
