What is the greatest round of all time. I haven't seen that much, but I have to say that Gatti-Ward I R9 was amazing. Hagler-Hearns R1 was just as good.

Round 4 of Foreman Lyle.

I just watched that about 3 minutes ago, that and R5 are some oft the greatest heavyweight rounds of all time. Forget Bowe-Holyfield R10, Foreman-Lyle was amazing.

This may sound corny, but I kep thinking "This is better than anyone could imagine, betther than even hollywood could dream up"

I don't know, the last round of Rocky Balboa vs. Apollo Creed was pretty exciting, what with the double knockdown, I don't think anything could be more amazing than that kind of an end to a furious slugfest. If that happened in real life I'd have a stroke.
But I agree, R9 Gatti-Ward I was probably as good as any real boxing match could ever be, anymore and both guys would have been killed. And one thing that made it even better was the commentary. Manny Stewart just saying "Oh my god..." and that this was more than you could dream of. Then Jim Lampley says "Ward nods as if to say: come on! Come On! COME ON LET'S FIGHT!!", which is the greatest line from a commentator that I have ever heard. I don't think it could get better. (I hate it when the commentators don't even seem excited)

i would say hagler hearns because of the back and forth bombs they were throwing or round 8 of foreman vs ali, just how quickly ali turned things around

for the fights that I have seen live while it was happening, or in my case on a slightly delayed telecast, its Round 1 of Tommy "Hit Man" Hearns against Marvelous Marvin Hagler, lucky I did not bet on that fight or I would have a heart attack....

I just don't see what is so great about that round. Hoya punched himself out after the first minute and did nothing else.

There are some good rounds there, Gatti Ward R9 classic, Don't forget Benn V G-man R1 or R2 unbelivable! talk about bombs.

Anyone ever notice the similarities between Gatti-Ward I R9 and Hagler-Hearns R1? Both started out with one fighter getting hti hard and looking like they might be out...Hagler didn't go down like Gatti did, but was still shaken by one of Hearns' throws.

Both rounds ended with the men just standing there trading punches, with defence totally out the window. Man, great rounds.

its dramatic cause he knew he was behind on the cards, he cornered quartey and went after him but quartey was still fighting back. the crowd and jim lampley screaming also add to the affect. :D

Manuel Gomez vs. Jeffrey Hill (Light Middelweight). The only round of that fight was incredible  ! First Gomez was floored and seemed to out. Later he decked Hill with a lucky punch.

Elvir Muriqi vs. Sam Ahmad (Light Heavyweight). This fight looked like a surreal movie slugfest. Muriqi was down four times, Ahmad three times. All three rounds are very exciting.

The rounds you guys mentioned are from better fights, but my rounds are also must see rounds :) .

Thanks, I'm trying to get 100 posts so I can download videos again, but I'm not going to do it just by flooding the board with crap.

Also, I agree Gatti-Ward R9 and Hagler-Hearns R1 are very similar, probably the most constant action I've seen in a fight, and a great ebb and flow. And I think those rounds have the highest amount of punches landed. GW R9 had like 110, HH-R1 had around 106. I think going through one round like that would make you sore for a week.

Yeah that was pretty good. How about Ward-Gatti 3 R7 when all announcers pause as they watch Gatti continue to throw his broken right hand, then Merchant breaks the silence with what is yet again a justifiably incredulous "Oh my God"

Hagler-Hearns.....it's the BENCHMARK.

Holmes-Norton...the FIFTEENTH round of an incredibly fought, incredibly close fight....& it was the deciding round of the fight....
...& both went out & fought like it was. Norton battering Holmes in the first minute....Holmes reaching down deep into somewhere & finding the strength to unleash hell on Norton.

there are so many great rounds in boxing history it wouldn't do justice just to pick one round. One of my picks would be Ali-Frazier III round 13 or 14. What a great epic battle that was.
Another great round would have to be round 10 between Holyfield and Foreman.

You've gotta add Leonard-Hagler rd. 12. Both knew that they needed it. Hagler was desperate and Leonard was dead tired. Somehow he sucked it up and it made for one of the most dramatic rounds ever.

Also gotta say Tyson-Douglas rd. 9 I believe. The round after he knocks Douglas down. Tyson went out there to finish the job (and he is one of the best finishers ever), and Douglas almost ended up taking him out.

TysonForeman
11-04-2004, 04:07 PM
Tyson-Douglas R9 was pretty cool. Larry Merchant just yells "MIKE IS HURT" as Douglas backs him onto the ropes and tears into him. It was great.

One thing I don't understand. In a fight where it's going into the last round, and one guy needs a KO to win, why doesn't he just go insane on his opponent?
