Ok guys here is the NAGA story:

I showed up at the event around 10am thinking sometime around 1pm was when I would compete; at least that’s what the event schedule said. I get there and weigh in at 190.5, four pounds under. I eat a good amount of food with my teammates and we are doing the usual bull****ting about our game plans.

Hours pass, its 1,2,3, 5pm and still none of us are called. We were all supposed to fight in “early afternoon”. This whole time we are being told we will be “going real soon”. Needless to say at 7pm my division gets called, it has now been 9hrs of nerves and anxiety sitting in the bleachers and 7hrs since I last ate.

Around 7:30 my 1st fight goes off and I feel great. My opponent looks like he is a wrestler, which btw all of my opponents looked like. I go out feel him out for a few seconds and decide to sit guard. I pull a Ben Stark and get one of my legs stuck in spider guard. I work from here for a sec get up on my hip and give him a bit of a bump to create the space to get my other leg out. I am now in full guard. We play from here for a few seconds and he puts his hands on my face to create space to pass my guard. I grab his hands around his wrists, push one hand thru and the other over, he is now triangled. I start cranking it and he stands up and starts stacking me. While he does this he posts his hand on my face. I reach across and grab behind his bicep as if I am trying to finish the triangle. I pull the bicep turn my hips and arm bar the ****er. I crank it and he isn’t tapping, I at this point am on my stomach almost upright with his arm almost facing the roof and I do not feel a tap. The ref jumps on my back and is smacks the **** outta me and I let go. It turns out that the guys other hand was trapped trying to fish it through to stop the triangle. He was yelling tap but it was so loud I couldn’t hear him. We talked afterwards and he was real cool. He had never seen a triangle to arm bar before. I said I was sorry and he understood that I wasn’t being a **** I was just finishing the arm bar. I could actually feel his arm popping. In not sure if it was ligaments or bone or what but that weird to feel **** popping.

2nd Fight starts about 5 minutes later. This guy is ****ING HUGE! I do not know how he was under 194.5. He looked 220 of muscle. We start and once again he is a wrestler. I sit guard and pull a Ben Stark AGAIN! My foot is caught. This guy pushes it through and he is in my ½ guard. He has me in a side headlock and is trying to rip my head clean off my body and is doing a good job at it. I am getting a bit panicked. I hear Kurt, my instructor, yelling “relax and play your Jiu Jitsu game this isn’t wrestling”. At that point I become totally relaxed. I work my ½ guard like a pro (I did a 1hrs private a week before on ½ guard and side mount). I attempted a sweep and he was too ****ing strong. So I worked back to my full guard. He stands up in my guard and proceeds to put his forearm in my throat. I push it past and get the arm triangle. This **** is so strong he powers out of it, POWERS OUT. Puts his arm straight up and around so my grip breaks. NEVER have I had that happen before. So he is still standing with his arm on my throat. I grab behind his bicep and yep you guessed it. ARM BAR! This was the fastest, tightest arm bar I have ever done. I think it was the fear that this guy might get my back if I missed. I am cranking the **** out of it and he wont tap. I am looking him dead in the eyes and he refuses to tap. I have the thumb up and knees pinched there is no way he is getting out. Finally after like 10 seconds he taps. The ref walks up and whispers in my ear “That was a ****in sweet arm bar.” He walked off holding his arm in pain.

3rd Fight. Before this fight my blood sugar crashed because of the lack of food. My hands were shakin and everything was getting blurry. I walk out sit guard perfectly and work from there. He stands in my guard and I roll over and knee bar his ass. I have it clean. I am cranking on it as hard as I can but I have NO GAS LEFT. Not cardio but my blood sugar is so low that I couldn’t do a pushup if I wanted. He fights out and mounts. He sits an arm bar and doesn’t have it clean but I do not have the energy to sit up and bounce out of it so I tap before he adjusts and rips my arm off.

4th Fight. 1 minute after my 3rd. Still spent. This dude is another huge guy. I sit guard and he stays standing. I release my grip and sit to an Achilles. He then strips my foot off him and Achilles me. Mine is cleaner but he is much stronger at this point. We sit there for a min and I feel as if my leg is going to break mid shin. I tap due to not having any fight left in me. He can’t stand up because I had the Achilles so tight.

I am extremely happy with my performance. I played my BJJ game and tried to finish everyone. I know that if I had fought when I was supposed to I would have won. No doubt. I also found out that the guys who finished 1-2-3 were in their hotel until an hour before we started. I hope that was jus a rumor. ****ERS!

The only thing I am upset with is that because the event was run so poorly I couldn’t put and keep my best game throughout my matches. Thanks for givin a **** guys and gals!!

Hey it sounds that you did your best. Congrats, I know how it feels to waitr for ever to get on the mat. In 99 at the Pan Ams they called my div. @ 12:30 in the morning.

Keep your head up and good luck in the future.
