Permitted Strikes and Holds
1In upright position the Athlete is allowed to perform open-hand punching techniques & kicking techniques to all legal points of contact on the body. Closed-fist punching techniques are not allowed to the head, but are allowed to all other legal points of contact on the body.
2Legal points of contact include the head, shoulders, arms, torso (excluding the back and spine, but including the kidneys), abdomen, hips & legs beneath the groin area.
3 If an athlete’s hand, knee or any other part of the body touches the ring, he is considered down so long as his hand/knee/etc is in contact with the ring.
4When on the ground, open-handed strikes to the head & closed-fisted punching techniques to all other legal points of contact on the body (excluding the head) are allowed.
5Knee techniques to the body and legs are permitted when both fighters are on the ground.
6Grappling techniques are allowed whether the athlete is up or down.
7Striking a downed opponent from a standing position with open-handed strikes is permitted.
8While clinched or grounded, the referee can stop the fight if both athletes are passive for 1 minute, call for active fighting and resume the fight.
Forbidden Strikes and Holds
1No head butts are allowed.
2Biting, spitting, scratching, pulling hair, hitting or kicking or grabbing the groin, fingers in the eyes, finger locks/ small joint manipulation, blows to the larynx or neck and hitting the back of the head and the spine are strictly forbidden.
3No downward striking with the point of the elbow on the ground.
4No forearm or elbow strikes are permitted to any part of an opponent’s body at any time.
5No stomping any part of a downed opponent.
6No kicking any part of a downed opponent.
7No strikes to any part of an opponent’s back (including the shoulder blades, lumbar, spine & neck area) are permitted at any time, standing or grounded.
8Athletes are not allowed to hold on to the soft parts of the ring (ropes, buckles, etc) to avoid takedowns or gain / hold position.
9Athletes who are standing up are not allowed to kick or knee if the opponent is down or touches the ring with his hand.
10Athletes who are wearing wrestling shoes are not allowed to kick to the opponent's head regardless whether the athlete is up or down.
